The series has a convoluted timeline to say the least.

Basically all the monsters in the trailers have appeared in the series at some point across multiple films. Depending on the film they can become good or bad. Godzilla himself has mostly been a destructive force or flat out evil in certain films. The Legendary version however is probably one of the first times he's been "good" since the 70's.
Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah. Mothra is always good, Rodan is generally neutralish, King Ghidorah is always bad outside of one reboot.

Going by the trailer, the plot to me would seem to be that ecoterrorists who want to punish humanity for messing up Earth (through pollution and global warming?) want to unleash the titans/kaiju. Presumably Godzilla will then stomp Ghidorah to protect his crown.

The music is cool.

Matthew Broderick and Raymond Burr exist in different universes.

Godzilla 2014 and GKOTM are their own universe, you don't need to see any other Godzilla movies to understand them.

Okay that makes more sense. Thank you. :)

This trailer was beautiful. Wasn't expecting the music but it worked really well especially the part with Mothra extending her wings. That part gave me goosebumps and overshadowed anything Godzilla did.

It looks like this will be a 3 v 1 with how the trailer went where they purposely tried to wake Rodan with some explosion and 11 reaching out to Mothra coinciding with the intro dialog. Ghidorah is definitely the enemy of Earth and they will defend their home.

I got a feeling it's not the mom going radical but it's really poor writing and Millie says to Mothra, "You're a monster".

Because it's Godzilla.
I think its written/said this way on purpose so we never quite pinpoint if this lady is good or not, wouldn't be surprised if the audio is taken from 2 different speeches especially since the beginning she says we are the infection and then at the end says the titans will save us

Heisei still the best. Do not attempt to dispute this fact.
Definitely my personal favorite series of Godzilla movies overall. Showa definitely had a lot of classic gems too, but definitely some stinkers too IMO.

Personally don't think I've enjoyed any of the Japanese Godzillas after Destroyah, but I haven't personally seen Shin Godzilla yet (didn't love what I read and watched about it online, but it does seem like the best one they've done in quite a while). I remember being so excited to see Godzilla 2000 as a kid in theater because it was the first Japanese Godzilla to get released that way (at least in my lifetime), but being really disappointed in it (except for that crazy business man Godzilla roasts after he yells at Godzilla for a while, haha.

I do hope we get some of the classic Godzilla music in this movie. Wouldn't kill my enjoyment if it's not there, but it would be great for a big dramatic moment. (like when Godzilla did his atomic breath for the first time in the last Legendary one).

How can you come to that conclusion so quickly? This is the very first trailer, it's a tease for the most part.

There's no reason to put major pieces of major fights in trailers just to spoil them all. Of course there's going to be clear shots of all the monsters.

It was a big criticism of the first one, that everything was so dark, and they made little effort in the trailer to reassure and tell by image "see, we heard you, you'll get to see the monsters in their full glory not through colors glowing in the dark". I really hope i am wrong, but my guts say no since not even Godzilla got clear trailer shots despise having had a movie already.

Godzilla got 2 very clear shots, when he's atomic breathing the sky and when he's charging in complemented by the air force.

You -are- wrong. I can confirm that you see all 4 monsters in all their glory plenty in the film. And despite how little you see them in this trailer, you basically get more monster in these 2 minutes than almost the entirety of the previous movie.

I'm super stoked for this. I liked 2014 well enough, but the fact that we're getting classic monsters like Rodan and the legendary King Ghidorah has me beyond excited.

Hey TDLink, how do they pronounce Ghidorah in this film? Gidra? GI-do-ra? Gi-DOR-a?
I honestly don't remember, I saw it back in February so it's been a while. One of the latter two, or both? They don't say it very much. Initially he's called Monster Zero. Although different characters definitely have different pronunciations for the other monsters. Ken Watanabe definitely says Gojira, I can tell you that.

Does King Ghidorah have those MUTO legs from that leaked concept?

Hope not because that would be one way to mess with what is shaping up to be sick design.

Seeing Watanabe barely show up in any different scene makes me feel like he's going to get the Bryan Cranston treatment from Godzilla 2014. What a shame.

No. That "leak" was fake as hell.

He's the best human in the movie and gets a big moment all to himself that is sure to be iconic, don't worry.

I'm having a really hard time getting excited for this, even though some of those scenes look beautiful. Godzilla 2014 was a pretty big disappointment for me. I enjoyed Shin Gojira much better.

Kong was great so hopefully they've learned from 2014's mistakes.

Godzilla 2014 was from the guy who made Monsters. This one isnt. That alone should make people who were disappointed in 2014 more excited for this.

The director confirmed one character from Skull Island returns in this. I'm guessing this theory is true.
So here's a weird wrinkle, since a lot of people are bringing this up.

In the screening I saw, Charles Dance was definitely named something else. I suppose it's possible that they intentionally changed Dance's name for the test screenings to hide that secret, but I'm not really sure given that there was not a single thing indicating he was Hiddleston's character from Kong.

But I also don't remember -any- character from Kong. So I'm not really sure what character the director is talking about unless it is some quick cameo I am completely forgetting about, or they were added in reshoots.

Interesting. Yeah, now I'm thinking it's just a quick cameo that was added during post production.

Maybe the character is Kong in a newly added post-credit sequence lol.

So I guess the entire 4chan summary is BS? Lol.

Could be using a false name I suppose!
save the reveal for the post credits or the Kong film
