I go there twice a week, so it's a spooky situation for me. Really hoping the amazing staff there is OK.

Staff members escaping safely from the second floor, they'd barricaded themselves in the bathroom for hours.
My wife and I almost popped in there like 3 hours ago. Decided we'd wait to get groceries until tomorrow. Insane.
NBC reporting the (wounded) gunman is preparing to surrender, and one hostage has just come out.
Damn I googled Monon St. and right away Google Maps showed me the Trader Joe's. Hope everyone stays safe.
Shop at that location multiple times a week. Would probably be there now if I didn't just leave for vacation. This is making me feel really weird. Hope everyone is ok, the employees at that store are some of the nicest grocery store clerks I've ever interacted with.

Thought the same thing. Sounds like there was an exchange of gunfire that went into the store.

She was leaving the supermarket as the hostage taker was entering. They apparently hit her instead.
Disgusting, I didn't know Mely too well but she hung around with a few friends of mine at school, I can't even imagine their pain or her family's.
just thinking about that video from last week of a different police officer shooting through the windshield of his own car at a suspect's car while driving and I can only imagine the kind of marksmanship that lead to this. jfc.
