Yeah that's the thing. I understand the theoretical benefits of doing this privately. It allows for a broader conversation between two parties without additional noise.
But getting an answer like that completely disproves in practice what in theory should be a good thing.
Since I sent a PM on this matter and got no response, I'll just post the PM publically:
So I guess the lesson is it's okay to coordinate trolling Era off-site because anyone that proves you're doing it will eat a perma while you just roll a new alt.
So does like, the administration not understand you're basically mirroring the reason why minority communities tend to not report? I mean, the very fact that you banned the troll for the information jackpot provided and then banned them for bringing that information to you is pretty much a mirror of why people tend to not report stuff IRL. Either it gets ignored when brought privately, and when brought public they'll act on it and then find some way to ding the reporter to 'even up' for embarassing them. For supposedly recruiting the initial user wave off appealing to minority communities dogged for years by [redacted], enacting the same bullshit that lets minority communities be decorum'd to death by a thousand cuts is extremely disappointing.
After this PM was sent, we even have a thread that just showed up that's a perfect example of this behavior. Era's action is the Home Depot response. This is why nobody fucking buys the "send it to PMs" stanza, because you bury it like this forum administration buried their last shred of dignity when they turned their back on women and minorities just like every other goddamn 'ally' when they encounter friction.

(I was arguing about this exact problem to the administration in the suggestion topic while actively being brigaded, btw. I'll dig that up later.)
I'm extremely annoyed and disappointed that your response was to post the PM you sent me less than twenty hours after you sent it. I was tired from a long day at work yesterday, and I'm sorry I didn't immediately get you a response in one day. If that's a problem, I apologize for it.
In general, I would ask for grace given to when PMs are sent. It can take some time for PMs to get replied to, particularly for myself where I have any number of things going on in a daily basis. I understand that this is a topic which you feel passionately about, but please extend some patience in the future to any messages.
It should be noted that these kind of actions do not promote cooperative, conductive communication between staff and members. Such actions only serve to drive a wedge between staff and members, preventing us as staff from having dialog and discussing subjects in manners and ways that we should be able to with you as members. I would urge you to keep this in mind the next time you are considering such actions.
