Yep, pretty much me. I may give PUBG another shot as I haven't played it in a long time.

I hate Fortnite.

Realm Royale *might* turn out to be what I want. I think I like where it's going but they have been changing stuff up so much there, that who knows what it will be like when they actually finish.

I still think a really polished version from Call of Duty or Battlefield will be the one to do it though.

Have you played the more recent updates? At least on PS4, they reduced the amount of gas a car has, they get destroyed faster and you no longer can get car kills(at least temporarily, they might add it back later) also there are some urban areas in the game, and they tweaked the rings so the final game centers more into the cities now. Before I don't think it would ever end in the urban areas.

Oh definitely I've played it since the update. It's just that there's a level of jank to it that's keeping me from calling it the best. Definitely having more fun with it over Fortnite though.

With an interesting Fantasy setting that doesn't rely on long range guns or frontal one shots, yeah I could be interested. But even if it does happen, it'll likely be a F2P game riddled with MTX (a la Fortnite) or be an overpriced buggy early-access game that runs like slog (a la PUBG).

Maybe the Battle Royal Mode in one of the AAA established games will do it for me since the mechanics and Online capabilities will have already been established and polished, but right now I have no interest with the offerings.

Edit: That "The Swordsmen X" game actually looks really cool, and I'd be interested to try it out. Hope they have plans for a Western English release.

Dead Rising Battle Royal might be fun. Zombies everywhere and you have to kill your opponent with golf balls, skateboards, and a nearby bench.

The two I've tried, Fortnite and H1Z1, both had really subpar combat. H1 is better than Fortnite in that regard, and wouldn't be so bad but for all the control hitching that occurs when you get into extreme gunfights.

Yep, I love the idea but I don't really care for the way PUBG or Fortnite actually play. Really curious about Blackout.

Yeah this is me. I love everything about Fortnite except for the building mechanic, and that's a pretty big caveat. It sucks because I believe in a lot of what Fortnite is doing, but I can't support the game.

BR has me strongly considering getting into CoD this year for the first time in years. It seems like a good fit, and I think whatvee progression system they attach to BR will help to keep me hooked.

Tired of the pace of PUBG and I hate Fortnite's combat, what I really want is a straight-up car combat game or a Greek themed melee combat focused one

Keeping out of CoD on principal this year (not that I hate CoD, but I won't support the community splitting map packs rubbish), but Blackout definitely has me curious. Beyond CoD's smooth controls/shooting, I think first person would alleviate a lot of my issues with the Battle Royales I've played, where you can look around corners or over cover without ever exposing yourself, making hiding and camping a major winning tactic.

I suppose BFV has me interested for many of the same reasons, though perhaps less so thanks to BF1's overbearing visual effects that make it really hard to see sometimes.

Battle Royale is basically a subset of Deathmatch with a few common specific rules (shrinking map space, emphasis on looting for weapons/armor/skills, no respawn, usually a relatively large player count).

The shrinking map space is interesting but aren't the others like old school counterstrike deathmatches?

I suppose the main thing that confuses me about why this became so popular is I thought people want fast respawn to quickly get back into the game? I thought the one life per match system of the old CS were outdated?

I've gotten into Fortnite with season 5 but even though I'd consider myself quite good at shooters, I've been struggling with it. Mainly because of the building aspect. It's still fun but I never do all that well as far as kills go. Really curious to see how Battlefield's BR ends up. CoD's take on it intrigues me too.

To an extent. I played The Culling for some time. Spent dozens of hours on PUBG. Played a lot of Fortnite BR lately. Each of these games is fun and cool in its own way, but I have issues with all of them. None of them feel mechanically "perfect" like some of the finest shooters ever. Call Of Duty has a golden chance to fill those shoes, because that series' shooting mechanics and movement is some of the best in gaming, and since we know they'll adapt it to larger spaces (less hitscan, bullet drops, etc., vehicles, etc.) it could truly be special. The day someone nails BR a hundred percent will be absolutely glorious for me, because I absolutely adore the concept, but none of the games currently doing it (that I played, anyway) are above an 8/10 for me. Still great, mind you, but excellence is still waiting.

Is there any local mp non shooting game battle royale yet? I don't like online or shooters, the concept seems alright I guess though of every man for himself. That is the concept right?

Removing the building aspect of Fortnite is like removing the abilities of heroes in Overwatch.

Yep, I like PUBG but it runs like crap on Xbox so that's a no from me and I don't like the building part of Fortnite. Hoping CoD/BFV BR will do it for me, I'm pretty excited really.

Would love an updated Alterac valley style BR in Black Desert or FF14, somthing mideval based with excellent combat mechanics.

CoD and BF have potential.

Overwatch could be interesting, but not enough character choices.

100 player BR in a hero setting, like Marvel Universe or City of Heroes kind of thing would be out of this world.

Between fornite and pubg, i prefer fornite but i do not like the building mechanics, so right now Realm Royale is my main BR game if you can say that (although i do play it less often than paladins, heh)

I need a Splinter Cell BR. Real stealth, verticality, all the good stuff. Take out the over reliance on scavenging for guns, give everyone the same skill set and go for it! Unfortunately there would be no way to monetize it like Fortnite etc, so it would probably be dead within weeks.

I don't know. I thought I wanted Fortnite without the crafting but I've realised that it's an important element in keeping the player doing stuff within all the down time. So I basically want something that serves the same purpose, I just don't know what that is. Maybe I should just give Fortnite another shot.

I would also totally play a Metal Gear Royale if it plays just like MGSV even though I know Konami will fuck it up with the all the microtransaction bullshit.

I want an unfair BR game more like the movie. You get a set of random items from the start and have to take down your enemies to aquire other items.

Meaning someone will start with a rocket launcher with limited ammo, while another might start with a squirt gun.

Anything like that exists already?

Where is my Hunger Games battle royale? It's SO easy to imagine what it would be and it's shocking it hasn't come out yet.

other than the controversy of killing kids

There are a ton of Battle Royale games currently available, in beta or being released in the next few weeks.

Cuisine Royale: Realistic guns + kitchen equipment for armor
Darwin Project: Melee + Bows and special abilties
Egress: Melee BR (Dark Souls like)
The Culling: Melee combat (Reboot coming soon)
Fear the Wolves: Realistic gameplay in chernobyl (Wolves and mutants as NPC enemies)
Fractured Lands: Mad Max BR
Islands of Nyne: CS:GO like gunplay, futuristic setting
King Tide: Underwater BR with divers (Sharks as NPC enemies)
Maelstrom: BR with ships
notmycar: BR with cars (think Rocket League with guns)
Rapture Rejects: 2D BR in the Cyanide & Happiness universe
Realm Royale: Think Fortnite without the building in a fantasy setting (different classes to choose from)

I always thought a Battle Royale based on the Fate/Whatever series would be cool.

It's technically already a Battle Royale what with the 7 Master/Servant pairs fighting to reach the number one spot to obtain the Holy Grail.

I imagine it as a duo system where you get matched up with a partner or queue with a friend.

You could create and customize a Master and Servant characters depending on what role you end up as with unique abilities based on Servant class/weapon/magic type/etc.

And if your partner dies and you escape you would have a limited time to find others who have lost their partner and form a contract since you need to be a pair to reach the number one spot.

Of course there's a zero percent chance of this ever happening but I thought it would be cool.
