You are being over-aggressive again. The point is that you said (or accused me, if I want to take a different tone as well) of editing my post after you made yours which isn't true. It has nothing to do with you seeing my edit after finishing your post.

As I said before, you have to ignore everyone before Yukinari posted the screencap/OP edited his post (which happened a bit later). Looking at the first page, apparently even a moderator ignored that and banned a user responding to a poor OP which lacked any useful information.

You are really doubling down on the edit, huh. As I said, you edited your post while I was writing mine. I didn't see your edit until you pointed out to me. I didn't "accuse" you of anything in relation to that edit. I just hadn't seen it and thought it was done after I had posted (while it truth it was done while I was posting, so there's that). I really don't know what you expect me to do? An apology? Of course. As I said, if I sounded harsh it's because most of us are tired of these same excuses every time GamerGate rears its ugly head. It was nothing personal.

So let's ignore everything on the first page. We're on the second third page and people still handwave the issue, even with all the information posted in the first page. So, yeah, my point still stands.

If there is another explanation, as folk in this thread are positing, why on earth are GOG not simply sharing this explanation?

JFC. That's quite a monumental fuckup, to put it mildly. Is their twitter run by a fucking intern or something??? How can you work in public relations and not know anything about GG??? There's nothing to interpert in that gif, no hidden fucking meanings!

But isnt the gif representing someone pissing on the grave of GG? Couldnt we assume that that is against GG?

Edit: Didnt see things clearly. Sorry

I'm going to give GOG the benefit of the doubt and assume that the person posted it didn't know what they were doing.

This diminishes every second they stay silent. How hard can it be to just send out an apologetic tweet?

They are probably busy, making gaming history with Cyberpunk!!!

On a serious note now, I think they dont take this matter this seriously/trying to gauge the public opinion to adjust their post accordingly

Even if not knowing the background, a PR manager should know better than parroting in-game politics that'd make South Park embarrassed. This is disappointing.

What explanation are you expecting, exactly? Someone on twitter made a shitpost, then someone else probably decided it was better to back off and sweep it under the rug.

You edited your post after I had posted my.
I just pointed it out after you mistakenly wrote that to which you replied:
I didn't see your edit until I had finished posting my message. Silly me.
^ Completely unnecessary afterwards. The matter was already finished.

Yeah, like I said, ask those people. My stay here was supposed to end after I edited my original post. I'm out.

Are the Postal creators "GamerGators"?

The VG247article this thread is about obviously, also from what I can see, the last time they wrote an article about GOG was 10 months ago, and it has 0 comments. I'm not sure GOG will care too much about this....

Errr, why would GoG frame their response to this specific site? The poster you quoted was talking about the 'controvery' in general quite clearly. He wasn't asking for them to tell it to VG247 personally.

It's literally pissing on the grave of gaming journalism. I just don't see how you can interpret that as anti-GG.

What matters is the stance you take, not how much it affects GOG. Don't give GamerGate an inch.

OK, bye!

This site is the only one who even cared enough to write an article like that so far.

Wait. So you think they haven't responded because they don't care about VG247? They shouldn't respond because maybe their customers and the players deserve to know why they posted it?

Your original response made it sound like they haven't responded because their tweet was recent, the article about it shouldn't impact when or why they choose to respond.

That's obviously not how it works in the corporate world the less they say the sooner it's getting forgotten.

Reading the now-locked thread on GOG, goddamn are gamers stupid and fragile. I can't believe there are still morons out there that are gamergaters and say stupid crap about hating sjws unironically.

I wish gaming wasn't such a toxic cesspoool breeding ground for hate and intolerance.

I need an explanation from GoG

No? You're bending over backwards to even glean that reading.

The DLC even has Milo Yiannopoulos voicing a character.
Welp, Im out. No need to stick around for any reasoning, seems clear as day.

Only reason I can see GOG for making that tweet was to play up the anti establishment nature of the game and sticking it to the "soy boys"...which in itself is already a problem. Cynical me would say that they knew the kind of reaction they would get and make certain people buy the game out of spite thus pandering to the GG crowd to score some game sales. Are GOG sales that bad that they have to resort to this? Hope not.

Because it could've been an ignorant mistake, but don't let that get in the way of your outrage.
Let's be real, we are well passed the stage of "innocent mistakes" and plausible deniability when it comes to games organizations, personalities, and companies in regards to their awareness of GG.

Benefit of the doubt is no longer a given, particularly in games/tech, so if they intend on playing innocent, they'd better get on a statement real fucking fast.

The screenshot is definitely pandering to a hate group. Even if it was an ignorant mistake, it should still be apologized for.

It would be like if the headstone read "Public Schools, May 17, 1954". Sure, you could interpret it as someone that thinks public schools are shitty, but the date has very clear implications.

Damn it. I am supporting GOG since I don't like Steam and Valve. =(

I really, really hope they make some kind of statement, and soon.

So then why did you respond saying it's not even been an hour. I'm really lost here.

I mean logically why would they make a statement and risk a shitstorm before the press picked this up? There was still a chance no one actually cared enough to write about it and it worked for 3 days, most of their customers don't really give a shit either way that's a given.

Look at it this way, it would be strange for them to post it if it was in ignorance and sincere to the content of the image.

Why would GoG have an issue with "games journalism"? I think the press has been pretty ok to it and its parent.

They really should say something, if anything, to stop people from speculating.

Same. Moved most of my business over to GOG since the few games I care about are available there as well. Hope nothing more of the sort comes from them.

I see. :p Shouldn't be much of a surprise that the devs that created Portal are bordering to or are full on douche bags. Their games were shock humor at best and the intent wasn't ever clear to me. Guess I was right to be sceptical.

Sounds like a good reason to refuse to patronize their parent company, not just the entity behind the storefront side of their business.

That's quite easy to fix imo.

CD Projekt only has to release a pr statement that the person managing the gog social media account was fired and that cd projekt doesn't condone harasment and stuff.

Firing the social media person is too far imo unless they put it up on purpose to show their support for GG. An apology with clarifying their stance on GG would be fine. No need for witch hunting because then you become as bad as the GG's.
