Yeah it was such an "out of nowhere" thing with the guerrilla marketing and soonish release that it caught people off guard. They said they had a ton of signups for it though.
UnREAL was never a huge show. I'm surprised it lasted 4 seasons. Will finish it up shortly.
I had no idea BOTH Michael Pena and Diego Luna would be in Narcos: Mexico? And it'll move to Mexico. Hmm, this now has me seriously interested. Are the 3 first seasons worth anything?

If you are asking if they are worth watching then, yes, absolutely.
Meh. I fee like I've been hearing about Walmart getting into the 'streaming wars' from various people for the best part of a year.
Like most of the players who are lining up to potentially enter the 'streaming wars' (namely Comcast) they don't want to try and take on FAANG etc but they can't be seen to be sitting on the side lines either.
As long as they're willing to actually compete (no Seeso level shit), then sure why not?
How could they possibly compete with global streaming and retail giants like Netflix and Amazon. Even just focussing on the US they would have a tough time with just those two, discounting Hulu and Disney. What will they stream, daytime soaps?
They would make new shows, presumably. According to that article, they're trying to appeal to middle america with a lower price point, so I assume their programming would also reflect that - something that could help differentiate them from their competition.
Probably my favorite Netflix series. Or at least top 3
I worried the quality would go down in season 3 after finishing the Escobar story line but it's actually the best of the series in my opinion
Starting up with new shows seems basically impossible to me. They would need to have something big enough to get people to subscribe, and AT LAUNCH they would need to have enough content to keep people happy to keep paying. And these are the same people who are constantly complaining there is nothing to watch on Netflix.
Yeah, that's the rub with just about any new potential streaming service- unless you have access to a pre-existing back catalog it's hard to imagine anyone bringing enough content to the table to justify the cost of a subscription. It's taken Netflix half a decade and how many billions of dollars to get to their current level of output on top of the licensed movies and TV shows. Even at half the price of Netflix you would need a ton of unique content to justify a continual subscription (vs just subscribing for a month and binging the couple of series you are interested in).
The article points out that Walmart acquired Vudu in 2010, though I'm not sure how significant of a catalog it is.
I mean, Vudu is a iTunes or Google Movies competitor. Just another place to buy or "rent" movies and TV Shows. So that seems separate from making a Netflix competitor, I'd assume those deals won't transfer.
Maybe they could make all Vudu content free to subscribers. That would instantly give them a better back catalog than any of the other streamers.
Guess I'll finish up Unreal. Crazy that it it got dumped on Hulu.

They had already filmed season 4 before season 3 came out.
Disappointing since I enjoyed the hell out of season 1.

5 is as good a place as any to start. It's also probably my favourite series.
Series 5 is Matt Smith though ;)
I have no idea why I wrote Tennant I even checked to make sure that was Smith's first season.
It's also a table top RPG--very Stranger Things. The tag line is something like "The 80s that never was"
