I could've sworn I read in this thread that if you pre-purchase Dead Cells, you'd get a percentage off on it (I forget if it was 10 or 20%). Well, I went to go look about it and I'm not seeing anything. Did I miss the window?

They said Dead Cells will be 20% off on Switch for a little while at launch. Some reason they didn't get pre-purchase. So it will be $20 at launch.

The preorder finally went up today, but there is no discount.

US eshop might work very differently so apologies if this is not applicable. But the EU shops have the 20% discount applied until the day before launch.

Has anyone here played the DSiware game Starship Defense?

I've been on a tower defense kick lately and that one is supposed to be pretty good.

There's only 30 levels though, is it pretty short? I just beat Final Horizon the other day and i was pissed that the entire campaign felt like the tutorial and the game was over before it properly began.

Tried playing more Pixel Junk Monsters Ultimate but holy shit is that game sloooooow. How could they not have added a FF button after all these iterations??

Well Nintendo just tweeted that it will have discount...

Not sure what is going on.

Nothing is, it has the discount, I just looked in NA. It may be $19.99 in other regions much like how Romancinn Saga was $5 cheaper for like the first couple weeks and the. went up in price, but never showed a discount %

Anyone played CRAWL? I'm interested in getting it as a fun group 4 player game, but also curious if it's any good as a solo experience?
It's dead as a solo game, and IMHO isn't that special as a multiplayer game either. I LOVED the concept, and got suckered in by that genuinely excellent launch trailer. The concept is really interesting (3 friends as dungeon monsters vs one dungeon crawler hero, with you swapping roles intermittently), but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. Plus, I'm not one to rail against pixel art, but damn is this game visually confusing. You have distinct colours for each player, but there's so many pixellated blurred projectiles and attacks going around the screen, it's a real struggle to know what the hell is going on.

Well, I loved it back in the day. You can't really go wrong with Q-Games and that price tag :) Gameplay is solid, the last levels are not easy and if you are a completionist you can go for all the medals on each level, which is not exactly an easy task.

And while you are at it, take a look at another DsiWare game, Reflect Missile too (not a tower defense though, but another nice Q-Ganes gane…).

Just to follow up in our play time we found the game to balance out on the average. Especially if people keep pushing down.

There are many ways to kill the hero and smart players buy gear and spells etc. I played many floors where the hero switch three or four times with no one person clearly getting ahead too much.

The one thing we didn't quite like / felt like we had to do was at the end we kind of felt like we did have to crown someone. You only get so many chances at the boss, so the monster players would gimp the boss. You can mitigate that need by playing a lot solo to unlock stuff in runs.

I do agree that there needs to be more catch up measures if 1 player is way more skilled. I'd recommed the game none the less. You can also play with less than 4 and have the computer control the other characters and they will present a good enough challenge.

Crawl is extremely fun in multiplayer. Do not get it for solo play - it's designed to be a multiplayer game and isn't very fun solo.

Thanks y'all! Lot to think about, lol. Reactions seem to be pretty mixed. I feel like I'll eventually just pull the trigger as my group seems pretty interested.

Yeah, when the preorder first became available about three hours ago the price was still listed as $24.99, but that changed soon afterwards.

Starship Defense is really good. Got a nice minimalistic look. I got it via points a few years back and enjoyed it. I don't think I finished it because it got hard and I'm bad at those types of games.

Sonic 1 & Thunder Force IV hitting the Japanese eShop in August for 999 yen, or about $10. No word on if this means the US gets it the same month nor the pricing outside Japan, but this is the start of the Sega Ages for the Switch.

Forgive me if this is the wrong thread to ask but I was wondering what cases people were using for their switches. My controller breaking recently made me realize I probably should get a case for my little baby.
The Nintendo Switch OT is probably the best place to go for questions of a general Switch nature.

I myself like the Butterfox Switch case -- rigid enough to protect the contents, not too big, and has enough room for the Switch, 9 cartridges, 2 extra joycons, wrist straps, extra cables, and a mini USB-A power adapter. I can bring everything I need for a day of gaming without any problems.

Youtube just recomended me 3 videos about a 4chan "leak" about a direct at the end of the month.
It is the most fake direct list I ever saw. highlights inclues Cuphead, TWO smash characters, KH3, Doshin the Giant HD, FF7 Remake and a Mother 3 remake in 3d.

Are these youtubers idiots or they just want the easy view ? =P

In what way is that related to this month's eShop content?

Directs dont get leaked. The E3 one was "leaked" only because the labels for the show floor kiosks had to be printed out.

Just bought Hand of Fate 2 and then I've got Pool Panic tomorrow (I keep wanting to call it Pool Party), City Connection, and I forgot Ghost 1.0 was coming tomorrow too. Expensive coupla days but I can't really complain about good games.

These are Genesis ports?

$10 is steep af compared to the 3DS Sega 3D Classics and what those consisted of.

Too bad we didn't get more Genesis SHMUPs in 3D...

They're the equivalent to the 3D classics, yeah. Some non-Genesis games are on the way as well.

Thunder Force IV is getting content from the Saturn port, while Sonic is getting a mode where you basically get to play the "Arcade Mega Play" which is like getting Vs. Super Mario Bros in that it's a reworked version designed for arcades.

Phantasy Star will be based on its PS2 port but with the bonuses of faster walking speeds, changing the music to FM sound, difficulty options, & choosing the difficulty.

They said we might be getting other games like from Saturn, Dreamcast, & Gain Ground is the arcade version, so arcade games as well.

I've been seeing this supposed $10 pricetag floating around for the Sega Ages games all day. Regardless of what they cost in Japan, I just can't believe that Sega would charge $4 more than the already-available 3DS Sonic port which also includes extras like the Switch version, and $2 more than the similar Arcade Archives releases. But then again maybe they saw how the Switch audience leans heavily old school and are betting there's enough of us that are willing to spend a premium for retro Sega content. Sonic Mania was anchored at the top of the eShop charts for weeks-on-end after launch last year, and all indications are pointing to very strong sales on the platform; this could also possibly factor into how Sega's approaching their pricing with the Sega Ages line-up.

The Switch's e-Shop is playing Sonic Mania Plus dirty; although it's a $5 DLC, it was an awaited release for one of last year's best game. And no sign of it on the shop, no banner no feature. It's passing by unnounced.

I for one am rooting for this DLC to sell well. I want more Mania goodness, a sequel at least. Hope this DLC gains traction on the Switch.

The Europe stuff that's on sale this week announced yet?

What time does that news usually drop?

Edit : is there a psprices.com type thing for Switch? The switch section on euro psprices.com is blank.

The last 3D Classics in Japan were around $8-9. Sega Ages isn't much more and I fully expect these will be $7.99 when they hit the US market. Right in line with Arcade Archives and JT's Arcade.

It does suck that it's impossible to know it released unless you keep up with news, but there's not much that can be done with the way the eShop works. There's no "DLC Expansions" sections so the only way to see it is by going to the actual Sonic Mania page and looking at the DLC.

I really expected Sega to make a new discounted SKU both for retail and digital, but the only way to get it digitally is buying Sonic Mania and then the DLC separately.

Hey guys, I know it's not related to the eshop but I got my physical copy of "Slain: Back From Hell" three days before it's official retail release. Problem is the physical copy of the game has an incredibely rough framerate. I heard this was patched in the eshop version not too long ago to run at 60fps but I was wondering if somebody could boot up the eshop version to confirm this. Also, could anybody tell me if the game is just called "Slain" on the Switch menu like the physical version or if it's called "Slain: Back From Hell". Thanks in advance. Hope the same fixes the digital version got are going to be a day one patch on the 20th July.

The icon says the full title but the actual app says just Slain, yeah. Game is kind of weird... It runs at 60FPS but the moment you start moving your character it geels like it drops to half that or something.

Either way, the last update of the digital version is 1.0.2. It'd be pretty weird if the physical one shipped with an older one or didn't let you update to the same.

Do you like pool? Even though this is very different from regular pool I think the basic gameplay will resonate with you a lot more if you like it. I don't think it looks boring at all. It kinda reminds me of Golf Story where you just solve your problems with pool lite instead of golf. I'll post impressions tomorrow as I'm sure others will too.

Hand of Fate 2 is great, don't sleep on it.

I went for one of those expensive Waterfield Switch cases recently, and it's really awesome. I really need to stop buying things for this system.

Sega, where you at!!

Just played my friend's PS4 copy of the game and holy shit it's like night and day. Smooth 60fps all the way through, when stationary and moving. How did the devs screw the pooch so bad on the Switch version?! Considering returning this and getting a refund.

I know, right? I initially got it on Vita and PS4 (cross buy) but mostly wanted to play it on Vita and boy, that thing was 30FPS with constant dips... Now the Switch made me interested in the game again, they seemingly patched it to be 60FPS on handheld and all since it performed worse on launch and now this lmao.

I mean I got it for like $4 on sale, but jeez.

Any word on a Mario Kart or a Splatoon discount this week? Heard some rumorings about 30% off the former on the JP eshop. Got some friends that have yet to buy either.

The Switch version is terrible, nearly as bad the the Vita version despite the system being more capable. The game itself is very forgetable in itself as well.
