It's 3:40am and after almost 5 hours of playing, I feel like I'm still scratching the surface. There are so many moons to find!

Yeah I think I understand what you mean, I thought that even controlling mario was weird at first. You just adapt and manage.

Frog was weird too, but not T-Rex.

Yea, as 3D platfromer none believer, my first 3 hours session was alright, not super into it, sucks at precise landing.
Second 2 hours session is much better, starting to get a hang of the control and having more fun. Still not too convince about 3D Mario yet.
As far as exploration go, BoTW did much better job to encourage exploration I don't know why.

I have to admit the Nightmare Before Christmas intro felt a bit underwhelming outside of the initial "Oohh, cool" moment, but that was probably getting used to the slower controls more than anything. Going through every nook and cranny of the first kingdom proper felt great. Ah, collectathons, how I've missed you.

Two little things though:

- Do all the kingdoms require you to complete the "main" quest before they open up all the moons? It was kind of cheap that there were what looked like many dead ends, only to get that moon and suddenly all those paths led to a moon or a secret area.
- Are you supposed to take the tablet out of the dock after using it? It's not unnaturally hot or anything and the fans are above the dock, but since the rest of it is so cramped it feels like you should, haha.

Love that they feature more content in the levels after you come back and revisit them. It would have been a shame if they were all just left alone. Another thing is that I really like controlling a lot of the enemies, except for Lakitu. What's in your guys opinion is your favorite enemy to control so far?

This game is really great. Sucked me in from the beginning. Had no difficulties with the controls at all, could perform many tricks even though I'm not a pro in platformers in any way. But the amount of attention that went into this game is amazing.

Is it possible to get all of the regional coins in the Sand Kingdom your first time through? I'm missing 6 and can't seem to find them anywhere.

Motions moves you can't do them which makes Cappy limited.

Is anyone really using the motion controls? Honest question. Only the spin attack seems actually useful and even then it really isn't necessary. After messing around with the motion controls in the beginning, I pretty much stopped using them entirely.

Yup. Most visually impressive game I've seen yet and I'm only 100 feet in Toastarena. I've spent like 3 hours in this game doing nothing. Just getting used to the controls, gawking at the graphics and world.

I can't believe this may be better than BOTW.

This makes it even more obvious BOTW needs a photo mode. This is just too good. Best photo mode I've ever seen.

Just, a painting come to life.

This game, wow. Been smiling along as I play. Controls and movement are tight.

Also anyone got any idea where I can find this power moon on
#15? The "very nice shot with the chain chomp" one, I'm going around in circles trying to figure out where the chain chomp is.

Hmm, a bit concerned about the motion control stuff. I usually don't like to play with split Joycons because it's kinda uncomfortable for me. The Joycons are just too small for my giant man-hands (using the right stick on the right Joycon is particularly awkward for me). Guess we'll see what happens. Is the game still fully playable with the controller grip, PRO controller, etc.?

Wait picture mode? Someone fill me in! :o I just reached the
Lake Kingdom
and it's absolutely gorgeous! :D I was a bit luke-warm on the game starting it because the Cap and Cascade Kingdom aren't as colorful as I expect from a Mario game but that quickly left my mind as I played and played more, it's just plain fun!

My Amazon copy is being delivered by the Amazon Shipping guys, not RM so it is likely that yours is too.

In that case, buckle up because we may have a few hours yet until it turns up! :(

You say that yet my Amazon order gives me the Royal Mail tracking order and says the carrier is the royal mail.
It says it was delivered to one of the locations at 00:23 so I don't know what the hell is going on.

I just got the 3 wedding Amiibo's and discovered what Peach's figure unlocks in the game.

Kudos for Nintendo for having the sense of humour to put 'that' in the game, lol .

I have only played with PRO controller and it works great. The motion control is only small shakes, not pointing and whatnot, you can do that fine with the PRO controller.

There is a pipe behind the main rock formation. I dont quite remember how to get there though, maybe from an opening to the left of the 4 chomps?

Why or why didn't any one tell me BB had a midnight launch. I could hsve been playing already instead of having to wait another 8 hours. So sad.

Just picked up my copy. Currently sitting a work. It's going to be a long excruciating wait until I can dig in. Didn't bring my Switch with me as it was out of juice, and I will first have to do groceries when I get home.

isnt that the one with the three rooms? I did that one, I'm talking about the one on top of that huge rock where you fought the rabbit with the golden chain chomp

Ok so im about what..4 hours in?

So its a kind of hot take but not too hot i guess-while i am enjoying it, im not blown away by it.

So far the "levels" feel kind of weird and not really that well designed. As someone who loves the mario games because of their level design (mario 64 and galaxy 2 are best in class to me) so far none of the levels have been that memorable and some have felt even...gimmicky?

In any case i am enjoying it, but i while others are like "oh my god so many moons to collect!" thats not really why i play mario games. The levels so far have ranged from "decent" to "good/solid". The game does not really have any lows yet, and it controls fantastically and it looks great. But to people who have finished it (not many i know) do the levels get much better than the initial 5 worlds?

Also, the music is, unfortunately, kind of bland so far :( I hate to sound like a bit of a downer but i DO like it and mario is one of my favourite series since i was a child (the 2 above games mentioned 2 of my favourite games of ALL TIME).

Is the extended version of Jump Up Super Star available anywhere other than iTunes yet? I'm at the "Willing to spend money but unwilling to go through the faff of setting up an account at a new service" stage with it.

I have only just started it, but I don't remember the last time I've been this giddy about a game. As someone already said here, I find myself smiling involuntarily while playing. I haven't owned a Mario game since Super Mario World and haven't properly played one since Super Mario 64 (so this one feels just like the perfect continuation of something I played 20 years ago). I know I've missed some really great games in this franchise, but from the overwhelming feel of joy I have playing Super Mario Odyssey, I can already say this will be one of the greats for me.
