Seeing quite a few people miss it in the OT so figured it could do with its own thread, especially with how massive MGS is outside of Smash.

Looks like Nobuko Toda supervised the arrangement, great to see her back on Metal Gear!

Have a listen! Completely different style to the original piece but I think it works really well.

It's absolutely insane the amount of respect Nintendo shows in representing characters from their franchises in Smash Bros, the remixes of themes in particular being one of the areas they excel. Can't wait for Smash Ultimate.

I didn't know they were throwing up music samples. That Vega Stage arrangement is AMAZING.

Instrumental... kind of removes the best part of the song :(

It's ok, I'll sing along anyway.

That's a really bad arrangement but I guess they're forced to make upbeat, snappy arrangements for Smash

I like the song in general, but I'm not too fond of the MIDI instruments used. It would have been nice if they used live instruments like the original.

Beautiful arrangement.

Don't sleep on this either, done by Shimomura herself.

Yeah, hopefully they do a live recording or at least replace the horns with live stuff.

If Snake Eater was a John Barry Bond theme, this sounds like something that would play during the Bond film.

Awesome, makes me want to play that game again.

They should put that 3DS version of Snake Eater on Switch

Also if people haven't heard it yet (since we're posting other arrangements from the game), Jun Senoue of Crush 40/Sonic the Hedgehog arranged a Mega Man 4 medley.

Sounds like something straight out of a Bond film even more now. It's pretty rad.

This is an awesome arrangement, love how Bond like it sounds.

What a thrill.....

Man those guitars make it extra james bond like

Goddamn, I dig it. They went full Bond.

Yeah, hopefully they do a live recording or at least replace the horns with live stuff.

This version is just horrible, my god!

If you guys want an alternative bond version, check out the "abstract camouflage" version:

Yeah I get why they changed the pacing, but it sounds significantly worse imo. The original being slow and somber was part of the appeal I found. But I can see why it wouldn't fit in the background of a fighting game.
