The best part is, Musk lost the suit.

I can tell you that I have first hand experience with the Tesla Roadster and TG's take on it was spot on. It was chinsy beyond belief for how much it costs (like, Chevy Aveo chinsy almost) and we had two of them that simply refused to take a charge, even with the same hookups as the other 4 we had on hand at the time.

What is wrong with Elon Musk? Was he always like this or did he at some point went nuts?
Who knows, but years of being worshiped as the "real life Tony Stark" can't be good for a person's ego.

What makes this even more funny is that his followers were saying that anyone who is helping should be immune from any criticism. You don't get any more helpful than the very diver that rescued the kids.

So let's say that his rationale for being hurt is that he was genuinely trying to help and got ridiculed for it. That doesn't make his Twitter tantrum understandable or acceptable.

I honestly doubt that part. If he were genuine he would have instantly had his team attempt to simulate the conditions of the cave's most troublesome points. Their efforts were half-ass. You cannot even create the conspiracy that Musk was trying to help and he wasn't given information about the difficulties of the cave because Musk himself admitted they were communicating. The problem required actual high level work.

I agree. I was making the point that even if we give Musk the benefit of the doubt he still comes off as a massive dickhead.
I like this summary of the situation.

SpaceX is doing very well and Tesla managed to hit that 5k a week target despite a lot of adversity. Engineering is hard but his companies make successes.

Probably best to keep all the staff of his companies separate from the chief dude on Twitter as that blurs the conversation.

I can emphasise with thinking a dude is a bad person when your only interaction with them has been to tell you to stick something you and your team worked hard on up your own arse. That is irrelevant, of course, to the return insult that was way too nasty to justify. He should apologise.

I am interested to know if SpaceX's capsule could have actually been of use, and I am hoping that attempt does happen. Getting SpaceX as a company capable of tackling odd life-or-death engineering problems quickly is a good idea given they are attempting to build a rocket that can get a human to Mars.
Ah I see. Thanks for the post man. Elon still shitty.

I genuinely think Musk has done a lot of good advancing the areas of space flight and electric vehicles.

But these comments... bad look, dude. Real bad look. Needs to step back and re-examine himself.

Sold my Tesla shares today. I'm a bit embarrassed I ever got caught up in this guy's vision.

Haha think you should sell all your shares in everything if you are an emotional trader.

Back to tesla. I dont think he can squirm himself out of this one. Everyone makes mistakes but damn thats going to be remembered for a while. Has tesla made any followups to his statements? Salty AF

We've had quite a few threads, suggesting the exact opposite as far as Tesla goes.
https://www.resetera.com/threads/tesla-is-still-in-hell-with-model-3-production.54988/

tbh, the guy who replied to you sounds more like a careful covert apologist, so I'd take that answer with a truckload of salt.
Yeah nah I disagree with what he said but in a respectful way. He atleast had the frame of mind to type out a full post explaining his point which I think is great.

Why can't the billionaire CEO known for his hostile relationship with the media share important concerns on his private twitter account that is totally private and not at all his direct line to the public without being accused of looking for publicity?

Oh, wow, that was even less heartfelt and authentic than I ever imagined an apology possibly could be.

"His actions against me" lol this guy is so far removed from reality it's actually scary

Exactly, lol. The diver was originally responding to an interviewer's question. He didn't just volunteer his opinion of Musk out of the blue; he simply gave his presumably honest opinion on how practical Musk's solution was. I'd hardly call that "actions against me".

As this well-written article suggests, my words were spoken in anger after Mr. Unsworth said several untruths & suggested I engage in a sexual act with the mini-sub, which had been built as an act of kindness & according to specifications from the dive team leader.

Total fucking narcissistic arsehole.

To paraphrase my own words to a poster in this very thread:

A personal slight does not give you the right to call someone a fucking pedophile, Mr Musk.

Jesus wept

"His actions against me...... "

"Stick your sub where it hurts", an insult that is as old as the history of men, is equal to the diver suggesting that Musk "engage in a sexual act with the mini-sub"

This guy, this guy, lol, this guy. Can't resist to insert that slight even in his apology, huh.

He did actually apologize in a subsequent tweet

Well, at least he did apologise.

Still horrifically reminiscent of a child having to apologize in a playground by a teacher.

Look Elon, you've been naughty, now say sorry.
"But he was mean to me"
Elon...
"Ok I'm sorry for being mean, but he totally started it".

Switch teachers for Tesla shareholders for this case.

Never mind; that part of the tweet thread was from a parody account.

I gotta admit, "This is my way to say sorry for the thing that happened" is one of the most hilariously stilted apologies I've ever read.

I'm sorry my Tweet didn't go down the way I thought it would.
It was a rubbish apology but about what I expect.

Fully anticipate even that being ditched when he thinks the heat is off.

*Looks up*

OMG. Edit: Oh, don't do that! My brain autocorrected the dlellins of the Twitter account.

Here is my theory: Elon was insulted by the diver. The diver called his efforts a PR stunt. But, it is easily argued that Elon sees himself as a humanitarian. So having his motives called into question, worse, having his motive proclaimed to be to capitalize on the suffering of children to promote his personal brand and the companies he has controlling interests in, is arguably the worst way to insult him. And, one could argue that from Elon's perspective, it's insanely absurd to make such an accusation.

So what does Elon do? He makes an equally or, perhaps hyperbolically more absurd statement that a man risking his life to save these kids and who has made a career in cave diving, is only in Thailand for their awful pedo sex tourism, something that should be obviously absurd, which should cause people to take pause and say "now that's out of character for Elon, let me think about this.... AH! He is responding by doing exactly what the diver has done: making an accusation that he would be okay with children suffering just so he can get what he wants..." the absurdity of the accusation toward this diver should highlight the absurdity of the accusation toward Elon.

Now, in the public eye, this is not what was seen. But this is how folks like Elon think sometimes: very conceptually, and making unannounced parallels/metaphors/simile which are spoken plainly and expected to be spotted for what they are.

He is hyper intelligent and forgets most of society is full of morons. I'd you don't get his tweet was exactly what I described and think he should apologize, then you don't know folks like Elon.

i dont get why the diver has to call musk out in an interview, like why would you put a man down who is using his own money to help? he was probably paid to do that or he has a personal grudge.
