Real talk, I can't even imagine what it would be like to have to grieve over a loved one and then find out years later you never had to. I sometimes wish my father was still around but I know I'd be super-pissed after years of him just not being around for no reason lol. Hopefully you get some closure on everything.

One of the guys from my high school pulled this after getting expelled.
He moved to another part of the state, but started a rumor through a friend that he had died of cancer. Then maybe 5 years later he surfaced and people were like "oh damn, there's that guy! Classic fake your own death and move away gag" as if nothing were ever amiss. When I ran into him, I gave him shit for it and he looked mortified.

Its probably harder to do these days but I kinda did the same thing. My mental state during high school was really bad I was suicidal. I eventually left school only told one person swore them to secrecy and we had the story that I had died. Occasionally I'll see someone from that time they either dont notice me or if they think I'm me I simply tell them they are mistaken.
