They'll be fine. Even the Bulgarians pretending to be Russian.

I live literally on the same block of the Russian Embassy in DC. There's Russians all over the place here. No one cares.

Probably helps that to most people, unless they start speaking they outwardly appear to be run-of-the-mill white folks.

I look forward to a Russia that embraces democracy, LGBT rights and co-operation with the west.

But it will not be with Putin at the helm and I'm worried his successor will be handpicked by him.

Their is a reason Russians are fine and will continue to be fine. They are white.

Russians? Christ man, I'm moving to the States soon and I'm worried about prejudice towards Canadians!

I'd be more worried about Russia poisoning Russian Americans than prejudice against them. It's not like a large majority aren't a shade of white. I think they'll be fine not being profiled like some other groups of people...comrade.

I've already been seeing anti-Russian bigotry for my entire life...? Has anyone here grown up in a city with sizable Russian populations? I live in Portland, OR and it's super clear here. I mean, a lot of Russian immigrants speak rough English, have different mannerisms and customs, different ways of dressing, etc. I think a lot of non-immigrants keep their distance, to the point where it feels like Russians are invisible to other people. I feel like people here treat a lot of immigrants like that, though.

Russia's has been antagonistic towards the US since pretty mych the end of WW2. I don't see the way Russians are treated are going to change unless we have boots on the ground (will never happen against a nuclear armed opponent)
It got better in the '80s/'90s under Gorbechav/Yeltsin and then backslid when Putin turned it into a full-on dictatorship. Things thawing some under the former is why we were flat-footed when an ex-KGB guy took over the country.
I see your point but I think russian predjudice against others (mainly PoC) are much more prevelant and a much bigger problem. So is western predjudice against PoC, too ofc
White journalists missing that the UK/EU/US/Russia/etc problems are an international web of white supremacists is a massive blind spot for many of them.

I just came in here to say something funny, but if the OP wants the thread locked I can oblige.
