Only the games that had physical demos leaked, because it was leaked by someone who saw all of the physical demo branding.

A pre-recorded only Direct has never been leaked in its entirety. Probably not even 50% of a non-live event Direct has been leaked before.
there was one leak, but that was due to NoE fucking up log-in for the press kit

...what? It's always called Earthbound in the west and it's always referred as that except for Mother 3 since you know it doesn't have a localized name.

Well that is the inherent problem with how you talk about the game. You ask for mother 3 instead of earthbound 3 and mother will be the name to retain greater stickiness for brand awareness.

To be fair I decided to check how much Earthbound as a name remains in the public conscious compared to Mother and in the US it is better known. So I am mistaken in my perception that Earthbound as a name is very rare.

people ask for Mother 3 because that's the only name it has. when people asked for Mother 1, we got it, but with a name change. there's no reason it wouldn't happen here. all the people who know about Mother 3 would know the game if it got changed to "Earthbound: Whatever". this is a non-issue

Even NOA call it's it that way, yup.

I imagine only a select number of people really know what's in a direct specifically so it's hard to leak.

They definitely will switch to the mother branding.

I never played this game so my only exposure is to listening to fans of the game.

Noone calls it Earthbound, not the fans not the gaming media nor the people outside the fandom but who are into videogames in general. Even Nintendo hasn't called it Earthbound since I've became aware of this desire in 2005.

Earthbound as a brand name is irrelevant. It has become a trivia answer.

Nintendo, 3 years ago.

They don't talk about Mother 3 by calling it Earthbound something because the game is not called anything other than Mother 3 due to not being localized.

edit: beaten but I don't care because that post is just so wtf it had to be destroyed twice

All you did is confirm they talk about mother more than earthbound in a roundabout way. But you do you.

Is this the "Boku no Hero Acedemia" vs "My Hero Academia" debate where the one side just looks like foolish weebs with no concept of localization for a reason. Also I have never heard anybody refer to Earthbound as "Mother 2" and the only reason why fans call Mother 3 by its Japanese title is because it wasn't localized.

-[12th] DasVergeben claims the Virtual Console will be a subscription-based service. (Source) *Incorrect

Can someone clarify why this is marked as incorrect? Didn't Reggie (or someone) essentially confirm that Switch Online is Nintendo's VC successor?

Or is this considered incorrect because the Virtual Console brand is dead?

Correct, VC is dead.

Nintendo announced that the Switch's online service would be subscription-based in January 2017, and that you would also get monthly NES/SNES games. DasVergeben said his rumor in November 2017. Even if he was using the term Virtual Console as a synonym for Retro Games, it still wouldn't matter because we already knew you were going to have to pay a monthly fee to play old games. And if he really did mean the Virtual Console brand, then he's also wrong because the brand is dead.

Eh I expect the new VC to essentially be subscription based. We knew NES/SNES games were bundled with online, but I think Nintendo will make a specific "subscription" service for the other consoles, which would align with the supposed leak. Seems to make logical sense considering the route they seem to be taking. The "free" games that come with the sub would essentially be a free trial version of the full service.

Oh, gotcha. I had forgotten that we already knew that Switch Online would include retro games. That makes sense.

Although this does make me wonder if Nintendo might have some kind of more extensive retro subscription service planned above and beyond (or supplemental to) Switch Online. Although DasVergeben's leaks have turned out to be a real mixed bag of things that turned out to be true, things that didn't happen/aren't happening, and stuff that's still totally unconfirmed, so who knows.

Maybe they'll save the announcement for the Game Awards and show Prime 4 and then also announce the trilogy sort of like what they did with the Bayo 1, 2, 3 announcement.

That's like literally the perfect way to do it. Just copy last year with Bayonetta instead do it for Metroid Prime this year.

Well, its not a rumor or anything but it definitely shows that Arcane is thinking of Switch development. Good to know, I love that studio's work.

Well the idea was more about undermining a potential leaker that would say that Arkane is working on a Switch game, we know that the info is public knowledge now.

Plus it is a nice piece of info to share.

Mario Maker or New Mario World for this year would be amazing. The leak is fake most probably...

KH3 and FF7R and Cuphead are all too good to be true it looks like a fan dream direct more than anything.

It's not the first time that S-E titles are rumored but still unlikely.

So of course that July 22 Direct rumor was wrong!

You know how to identify fake rumors pretty easily? Every rumor that is exciting, is fake period, because it would require more than bare minimum efforts from Nintendo. Watch that 27 July rumor being true.

Pardon if this has been debunked or what not, but I saw this video from Reviewtechusa... I don't normally buy their "leaks" but still intruiges me, and would a few others

Marcus Sellers thinking stronger Switch coming out in early 2019
It's been debunked already. Sellers doesn't actually know anything in general, he just uses the shotgun method of making tons of predictions and then playing up the ones he gets right.

-[16th] DasVergeben claims Simon Belmont, and Ice Climbers will be playable in the new Smash Bros. and that the game will be a new game and not a port, but will reuse some assets. (Source) *Partially Correct

About this one, why is it considered only partially correct?
Looks pretty much spot on to me?

The last edit made to the OP was in June, so it would have been before the Simon reveal.

edit:
And I missed that the Simon one was in a post that was edited recently. Silly me.

for future reference: Sellars is a known liar/troll/bandwagon-jumper/rumor-stealer who repackages rumors from others as his own, accepts and reposts rumors from literally anyone (has been tested many times by people posing as sources) and has generally no shame or clue about anything. His "leaks" or "rumors" are essentially banned here.

So is this the place people are discussing the switch pro rumours? Or is that in another thread? And why is there no specific thread for it?

Marcus really pisses me off. He just lies and acts smug all the fucking time yet he still has so many people who follow and believe him. I feel like literally everything he posts is either a lie, wrong or can be sourced back to someone actually legit that he never credits.

Lol, I can already see going by your post how unrealistic those predictions are, let me guess is 4k mentioned there?

I'll be honest, my annoyance is because I dislike when people post rumors from unreliable sources, and then use said baseless rumor to post their own Nintendo hardware fanfiction. It's a game as old as time and happens way too often. One re-post of a baseless rumor spawns 10 pages of hardware fanfiction that people convince themselves is true and then they complain after every Nintendo Direct about Nintendo not revealing new hardware that is "heavily rumored." To me, re-posting a garbage rumor is like a guaranteed garbage post multiplier. But that's all I want to say about that because this thread is for credible rumors.

4k upscaling, not native rendering. Basically like an Xbox One S
The switch should've had that already, it launched in 2017.

Yeah, even if the rumors are to be believed it would take a while for nintendo to reveal these things.

The biggest reason not to take Sellars seriously (and there are so many to choose from) is that he deletes his claims that turn out false (AKA most of them) and then lies about doing so. If he was actually any sort of journalist who had any sort of confidence in his sources he wouldn't feel the need to do that.

That's what proves he's 100% a fraud.

I had heard that rumor too based on the Tegra X1's capabilities, but apparently their version is down-clocked or something and certain features turned off
