The only thing I don't like is the notion of PvP being part of the game now. That shit better be optional and easy to avoid.
PvP? I thought it was just co-op.

There IS a preorder bonus for Xbox folks with a different suit, but beyond that, I dunno.Do we know if there are many customization options for the character's equipment/appearance? Now that it's third person and MP I think cosmetic stuff becomes very interesting
So...has the creature generation gotten better then? Last time I asked this people said no, but you seem to be implying it has changed in the past and this update will also change it? Because that's what I'm talking about and I don't get why people are having a hard time understanding something so simple. Not in no my sky case since everything is decided by maths.
The new seed defines terrain fauna and flora.
This has always been the case
Looks pretty damn awesome. I may get it on Pc and restart. The third person shift seems like a pretty big change to gameplay.
That "build anywhere" feature makes me wonder if people are going to team up and build on a single planet till it's basically city planet, lol
Second update made you able to find a predefined base spot on a planet, and build your base in that area, only one per planet, and you could also only have one in total. So like a home planet. The OP notes seem to mean you can build everywhere now.I haven't really been paying much attention to the updates post release. What's build anywhere? Is it basically minecraft now?
The bigger bases, and having multiple anywhere means exploring planets is gonna be a lot more interesting. Everyone can see them now. So basically, the creativity of the player base has added the 'procedural cities' people were hoping for, except they are cool and custom now.
You can share bases now in the game, but its still limited to specific locations and 1 per planet.I completely agree. I dislike fpp, so the fact that it has third person perspective now is really intriguing, and I always thought the base building was pointless before because no one else could share it. If we have a persistent world where everyone can build and share everything that's genuinely interesting, and depending on how it goes may entice me to try it out.
IIRC, Sean mentioned them running out of money during his GDC 2017 speech. Their hand was forced to release the game in its state at that time to recoup costs. It was still wrong, but I can also feel for him and the team as it probably wasn't easy to deal with their first studio being destroyed and then having to come to terms with the release. I think the updates released more than prove that Sean was never completely lying, as in making things up wholesale, but maybe rather not being able to handle the PR and development road bumps.
For those people passing by, Last updated added mission boards, 30 hour story, Farming/trading. There is more to do then just explore and get to the middle of the universe.
I wouldn't really worry about it. The scale of the game is such that you can easily find your own little "corner" of a galaxy if you want to and never make contact with anyone else. The likelihood of someone just stumbling on your location is vanishingly small. I've got over 300 hrs logged on the current version of the game, which has a limited MP feature currently and I've not once encountered another player without actively going to search for them based on location info they've provided.
Trailer is a different format. Next will have more shit than that update. In fact they may also do that style trailer and release it the day before release, like they have always done. This is a great trailer, makes that patch seems like 5x as big as the "massive" next update, which is weird. Hope there is more in it.
Hopefully those high-alert/frenzied planets have patrols or something?
Wouldn't those be purely optical though? I'm not even sure whether the rings are also not just optical.
Ah thanks, was gonna ask if there was somewhere we can read about the older patches. If people want to know exactly what has changed since release, just look here: https://www.nomanssky.com/
Summed up per update. NEXT should get it's patch notes soon too.

I think for memory reasons there will still be a piece limit per base, but hopefully its still large enough.,I hope someone covers an entire planet in a structure, effectively creating a Death Star.
With gas giants they could have harvesting stations floating in the atmosphere, storms, density increases gradually to the point where the vapor is liquid, element harvesting, gas sack aliens, etc.Wouldn't those be purely optical though? I'm not even sure whether the rings are also not just optical.
Would make systems look more varied though, true.
How many free updates has this game received now? Some total world resets?
Any and all hate/criticism directed at the game should be dismissed. They've done so much more than neede or expected.
The initial release was troubled but still was the core game they promised. They have gone above and beyond.
I guess i am in for a 4th play through.
I'm not completely sure about this, "can be built anywhere" and "multiple bases" could mean you could cover an entire planet in bases, or you can just build one way more complex base per planet now, but still only one per planet and are allowed to own "multiple" as in, on several planets.
- Bases can now be built anywhere on any planet.
- Dramatically increased base-building complexity and size limits.
- Hundreds of new base parts.
- Own multiple bases.
You have to give Sean Murray and his team a ton of credit here. They have devoted their lives to redemption after what happened with the initial launch.
I was one of the weirdos who put a lot of time into the original release and enjoyed my time with it. I fell off it pretty hard though, it got very samey.
This latest update looks fantastic, I will be reinstalling when it's available. Looking forward to it.

Huh, I never thought of that, those are good ideas. Or maybe like an artifical ring structure around a gas giant that you can walk on, basically an artifical planet, like from Stellaris? With gas giants they could have harvesting stations floating in the atmosphere, storms, density increases gradually to the point where the vapor is liquid, element harvesting, gas sack aliens, etc.
Looks great, will pre order it on Xbox when it's finally there but I'm a bit confused, only played it at release but I can't really see where people see the "better graphics" or "completely redid graphics". It looks exactly the same to me. You can see the grass being rendered 20 meters away from him while he runs and you still see aliasing. Also, what the fuck is this ring mess in space? The shadow is weird, the planet is in front of the rings and not in the middle of it, what happened there?
Thank you! That's everything I wanted to know. I'm glad they put some effort into that stuff previously. Excited to get back to this game!Fauna generation improved with the Atlas Rises update, and creatures saw greater variety (rather, the parts were put together in a more realistic manner, which helped creatures not look as goofy / repetitious).
It is reasonable to expect more improvements in these areas, but it is still too early to ask these questions of the NEXT update until players have some time to dig into it an explore. Everything is procedurally generated, after all, so exploration needs to happen before these conclusions can be made.
Same here. And there's nothing weird about picking up a game at launch and enjoying it. It would be weirder to not play something based on some tribal group think about why a thing is bad.
