Third-person view. Interesting.

The flying looked bad in that trailer, they crashed into a tree.

Edit: Turns out them hitting a tree is intentional.

Looks interesting. Not interesting enough for me but I wasn't big on No Man's Sky from the get-go. Seems the team has been working their butt off to make right with the community, so kudos to them for that.

I AM SO IN.

Like, the previous updates have all been amazing but this is more than even I anticipated.

Looks like another incredible update on top of the already amazing post-launch support the game's gotten. Can't wait.

Hello!

A week from today on July 24, No Man's Sky, including the Next update, will launch on Xbox One for the very first time. We are focused on development, but we know people are hungry for details.

It's nearly two years ago our small team of friends, with a shared love sci-fi, opened the universe of No Man's Sky for the first time. It was an innovative, weird, and at times, lonely game. I loved that. It reminded me of the science fiction books I grew up with. It was broad in a way that almost no other game is, but with four updates it has become broader and so much deeper too.

That will be even more true with the launch of Next, bringing a full multiplayer experience to NMS. We can't wait for you to play, but hopefully you can see from the trailer we're launching today this is a very new experience.

Feel like this is getting pretty close to what the team originally envisioned. Looks like another good step forward for the game.

Just when I thought I was out, they hook me back in. Got like 75+ hrs on this game since launch and more to come. I don't know what it is; it's got a certain inexplicable hold over me.

Awesome, ringed planets!
Third person!
Better graphics!

I hope there's some changes to the animals too.
Getting too hyped, still too far away.

Third person perspective might have sold me on the game. Overall, it looks like a completely different game from the launch version.

Looks pretty badass. I think it might be time to finally dive in. Does this have a story/campaign mode now, or no?

People already made some incredibly impressive bases, but with the ability to make a base ANYWHERE? That is going to be huge for the base building community.

Gonna get back into the game, hopefully they make the star systems actual systems and not just sky boxes.

This update was going to cement my decision on buying it or not. Based on these changes, with multiplayer leading the charge here, it looks like I'm going with no buy.

It does have a story that takes you through the basic mechanics of the game, from mining through to base building. It's a surprisingly interesting story, decent way to see what the game has got to offer as well. Probs about 15 hour story from memory?

Those clouds! The clouds and leaving the planet's atmosphere looks totally different as well.

I'm definitely pleasantly surprised by the visual overhaul, and the most striking thing is the larger sense of scale, possibly partly because of the third person view but also because of the taller trees and the overall terrain generation.

I'm concerned if my poor PC will be able to run this properly (the current version is pretty sketchy) so here's hoping they did further optimizations as well, because that trailer looks damn sweet.

Hmm, anything on creature and creature sound overhauls?

Looks really nice though. Third person seems to be helping with the scale.

Biggest turnaround in gaming history?

This is like if Spore actually brought out years of free updates to turn it into more than the game that was originally promised.

I have no real dog in this hunt, although I am not down on procedural generation like some people are. But I have to say, considering the original backlash was about how hard they over promised, seems pretty silly to begin by saying "every atom procedural." Like.... no it's not lol. That's not how your game works. That's not how any game works.

The clouds look really good now! And it looks like there's 2 layers of clouds, at least in the trailer planet.

I got back into it a couple of week ago, put ~15 hours in and have really enjoyed it, a huge leap forward from launch. This looks even better, can't wait to try it out.

I really commend these guys for continually trying to improve and update the game to where the fans want it to be after receiving so much harsh criticism and backlash these past years.

No water splash with ship near water. Close it all down, we've failed.

Also I still see rotating grass :(

And I don't see variance in flora size. Trees don't seem to have varying heights.
