This. Unless you're police describing a suspect or something like that.
The reason people do this is because subconsciously some men have this weird hang-up about referring to their adult female counterparts as "women." They can't call us "girls" (although many of them do anyway) because a "girl" is usually a young person, so they fall back on "females," which is weird as hell.
Because it's an adjective, not a noun. Stay in school, kids.
Yes. Everything is offensive now.
Im confused. It's awkward, so I wouldnt use it, but why is it offensive?
I see this everywhere and it really rustles my jimmies, but never more than when I see dudes say "men" and "females" in the same sentence. Really says a lot about how they view women. Shit's dehumanising as fuck. If you refer to women as females please consider: 1) thinking about why you do that and 2) not doing it anymore.
This has been a PSA.
Reported!I struggle with this from a sentence standpoint. Like "women I work with" and "female coworkers" are the same thing, and I say "male coworkers" too. Is that weird? I dunno.
Completely agree.
Somehow no one seems intent on call men "males"

You're god damn right
Why don't some women like female is it because male comes afterwards?

When you say "females" you sound like ferengi, i.e. view women as possessions. Don't do that.
If you still insist on doing so, watch Star Trek: Deep Space 9 in its entirety.
I can't tell if people really don't get why calling someone a female is kinda weird

I don't mind being called a male but I will rescpet those who don't want to be called that

If you're going to get all scholarly about it you can at least take note of the fact that your example uses female as an adjective and not a noun. What if you work in academia and that's all we do.
70% of female respondents stated that...
"That male over there" is weird
I see it and here it everywhere, and she's completely right.
If you're actually a feminist, maybe you should start listening to women when they tell you these things.I'm a feminist.
I don't understand what the heck is wrong with using the term females.
