If people are raised and surrounded by garbage, the chances that they become something else when they grow up is very low I would think because they ultimately don't know any better. Always exceptions but kids latch onto their parents beliefs more often then they think they do.
It's easy to say that in the modern connected age that people should be more easily educated but it's made it much easier in a number of ways to further separate yourself from people with opposing views or beliefs and cement your own.
