It is interesting that the multiple ERA posters with 95% of their posts being in praise of Musk are nowhere to be seen here.
I don't see a reason to think he has a deficit in emotional intelligence, he just seems to be a huge piece of shit.
His ego was challenged and so he chose to lash out with an attempt to damage the image of the challenger. I'm sure he's aware of how the accusation could harm a person.

It's amazing how quickly your opinion of someone can go from "okay Mars guy" to "typical capitalist CEO" over the course of a few months, then to "disgusting greedy egotist" over the course of a single weekend.

He clearly lost control of his emotions during the earnings call and again on Twitter. He didn't sit down and coldly calculate that calling a hero a pedo was a good idea. He had his little feeling hurt and like a 4 year old throwing a tantrum he struck back. That's the epitome of having no emotional intelligence.
Interesting that your first instinct is to defend him insistently as opposed to checking and making sure. Using the party line too! (There's no way these guys are hearing that term from anyone other than Musk stans)

Eh, Padi is not some unknown thing if you're even a little familiar with diving. I knew about it just from my interest in watches. Still, that would be a preeeety long stretch for an autocorrect mistake, unless Musk's has intentionally added 'pedo' into his autocorrect dictionary. What makes it obvious he meant what he wrote is that he already called him a sus, due to him living in Thailand, which is pretty clearly the reason in his mind where the pedo thing comes from, as an insult.

I suppose, but when someone's doubling down on their very pointed accusation an hour later it seems, to me, less like an angry reaction and more like a deliberately malicious attack on someone's character, and therefore their credibility. But maybe I'm misunderstanding emotional intelligence and that all fits under the banner.
