Favorite Cinematic opening to a game.

MechWarrior 2 is incredible!

Diablo 3's cinematics still hold up today...

Looks terrible now, but this shit was so different than typical Pokemon.

This. A true masterpiece.

Probably Uncharted 2 for me, starting out right with the train hanging off the cliff.

Tense, mysterious, and tragic. My personal favorite.

I really like Dream Drop Distance's opening and how it cycles through the major events of every game. I liked it a little more on the 3DS though where Mickey actually jumped from the bottom screen to the top.

back in the days we were stunned about Resident Evil´s opening .-)

First choices that came to mind were taken, so I'll go with this. I know it's not really the first cutscene but I think I'm not making too much of an exception.

One of the undisputed greats, Abe's Oddysee. That opening line is forever burned into my brain.



And a more personal favourite, Zork: Nemesis. Absolutely dripping with atmosphere.

+1 for Wild Arms. Don't even need eyes for it to be the best.

Ding ding ding. This was soooo hype. I've probably sat through the entire thing like 100 times as a kid.

Godzilla: Save the Earth has a pretty rad opening:



Love the one army guy in the beginning who shouts "GODZILLA!" before his ship gets blown up.

The Onimusha 3 intro was crazy for a PS2 era game

Freelancer remains one of my favourite game openings ever,





It was only years later that I found out there was actually an extended into not in the game that actually set up the story a bit more,

This one.

The opening for Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance for 3DS specifically. It looks amazing, recaps the goings on of all the previous games and has the credits on the bottom screen making the CG on top clean. AND it has a little Fantasia Mickey Mouse conducting the whole thing and reacting to what is happening on the top screen.

In the jump to the HD collection and single screen they put the credits over the CG (which is a totally normal thing to do) but also had the fantasia Mickey overlayed at the bottom and it doesn't work as well in my opinion.

Shout outs to FFXIV:ARR opening/FFXIV 1.0 ending cinematic and the rest of the KH series CG openings, all top tier stuff.

My all-time favorite...that music...makes my eyes water. So haunting.

I think the very first cutscene is actually one of the best in gaming and quite emotional. Unfortunately once you actually take over Heller it becomes more of an extended tutorial that drags on way too long.

This was the most next-gen shit to come out of that generation. No other game gave me similar "wtf did I just witness" feel after. And right at the start of the generation.

Parasite Eve intro is dope

Yeah the wrath cinematic is probably the most epic cinematic ever made

The CG in the Mark of Chaos cinematic still holds up so well.
