Look I know, but I FEEL like the shit actually works tho.

Playing a lot of Pokemon White 2 today. Trying to get a Lapras with a Modest or Neutral nature, not only are these to come by, they love using Perish Song. Tapping A was my only comfort when it came down to the wire, but it worked each time. Worked with the Cobalion I caught earlier.

Anyone still rely on this for the pre 3DS era games?

Got a Bashful Lapras with Water Absorb. IVs are middle of the road. I normally don't care about IVs, but the Lapras I settled on first did next to no damage when it used surf on a Magmar that was only a few levels higher and then putting those stats into a calculator sent me down this rabbit hole. Literally had 0-2 Special Attack IVs. Gonna keep going.

For me, pressing and holding the "B" button feels like I will catch it.

Edit: Sometimes Down button+Press/Hold B too.

It's mashing A+B! I have foolproof evidence, a friend was trying to catch a Mew via the Mew Glitch on his Red Edition before and after half an hour it always escaped. I took his GameBoy, threw his last ball and mashed A+B, the Mew got caught :P

Holding Down + B was the real thing. 100% placebo but it worked when I caught Rayquaza with a Pokéball on Emerald, so I kept doing it all the time.

Down + B immediately after the ball closes.
I still do it today.

Holding B was the rumor with Pokemon Red and Blue back in the day.

This. I have always used this stragegy.

It was holding "B" for me. I press down sometimes

These guys got it. I still do this even in modern pokemon and I swear it works.

Wait, A? Fuck, I've been mashing and/or holding B all these years!

EDIT: Ah good, not crazy, just incapable of reading passed the first post apparently.

Holding A+B+Down just as the ball is about to close is something I still do today.

You're supposed to hold B, not press A

It fucking works. Level 40 Lapras, my first two attacks miss, the thing uses Perish Song. I get off a single Shadow Ball and barely does shit, I get in one Ultra Ball, I close my eyes and mash A and boom, it stays in. It fucking works.

Edit: Jolly with perfect Special Attack IV. Find me in the alphs.

I never did this. Instead, from a young age I realized that my personal luck was so bad that I figured, hey maybe if I didn't look after I threw the pokeball, then the Pokemon wouldn't know it wasnt me that was trying to catch it. It worked for the most part.

Aren't these games datamined to heck by now. What's the verdict? Does it work? What about critical captures?

I almost always just hold the A button down, I doubt it does anything but to me it feels like it helps lol.

I press and hold the 'A' button almost all the time.

I swear by it, it really does work.

Never really considered mashing the button instead. I've been doing it this way for far too long to change now.

Yeah i don't know if it actually works but i used it all the time back in the days.

Urban legends on Pokémon were the best: i can't remember which game was but i do remember there was one in my school where people thought if you do like 50 laps in front of a specific home you got teleported somewhere else, i didn't actually have the game and pretty sure it was fake but i loved the creativity kids had for such things lol
