God of War (2018) is everything I dislike about modern video games

This game is good OP but I can see where you are coming from as it skips on major things which made the original trilogy great one of which is the camera angle, reading the first few replies in this thread it seems like:

What's your point.
The point the person you're responding to is trying to make is that the game is a masterpiece, reflected by the fact that loads of people bought it and liked playing it. The only thing your comment demonstrates (at least for me personally) is that a game can still be really, really good, and have lots of people playing it (just like God of War), but just not be for me. So, to reiterate: I don't like Fortnite, but I'm not going to say it's a bad game. Similarly, saying God of War is a bad game because the OP didn't like it is kinda bullshit.
3? You go to twice as many as that, they're just not all exploration based. Our gametime was as long as the previous 3 games combined, and the story had a beginning middle and end.
Maybe people expected to kill all the gods and explore every single realm in Midgard or whatever but it was a very extensive game in its own right
It's not just you. The game is two months old and there's an official thread for it; it's weird that someone makes a separate thread for a new game. I doubt people would be OK with everyone making a new thread talking about how it's a GOTY contender.

You're downplaying Baldur's role massively too to that of a wildling from Game of Thrones. I don't get it. Your talk of Atreus doesn't line-up with his character at all either.
I do agree on the 'princess in another castle' though. I don't think it hurt the game much though. Fair enough if you didn't enjoy it, but there is some unwarranted hyperbolic statements in the OP.

The biggest crime here is that Cory Balrog wrote part of Fury Road Script and then the mad max game is not directed by him.....and we get this instead....
Not that but we have had plenty of separate threads for this game already like what can X learn from God of War etc.
Those "looks like we can offer critique in ERA..." are quite funny with the way those posters think they're better than the thread shitter while offering nothing worth discussing.

I probably had a lot of similar feelings as OP for the first couple hours playing the game. It felt like this is Horizon with a warrior class character instead of an archer or rougue. Afterwards, all that negative feelings were mostly gone because while a lot of elements are similar to other games they work differently here anyway. The combat is so enjoyable that I played through the game again on GMGOW difficulty level. That feeling of finally beating all the optional bosses was incredible. Can't wait for NG+
Yeah it's just annoying I really don't get it. The same thing happened with Mario Odyssey, Botw, horizon, etc. Everyone has their own opinion on games and that's fine but it's just particularly annoying that people find the need to make an entire thread out of it. Half the time I think it's just trolling

That's my problem with threads like these. More often than not, they are extremely baity-y, as if the OP knows that his/her opinion can't stand on its own. The title, the use of that picture, his hyperbolic description of Baldur, the way he ends his post, ... It's like it was designed to bait this kind of reaction.
You should play more action games, because nah. It's fine for what it's going for, but it's definitely not on the upper tier of action game combat systems. Not by any stretch of the imagination.
Which should be reflected upon by proper critic. GOW is awfully overhyped. Saying this as someone who finished the game just yesterday. It's an okay game at best, nowhere close to 90%+ meta average though. There's a crapload of issues even in its combat system which is pretty much the only thing it has which is being praised universally.

Maybe it is funny in some sense, but it is often used as a means to try and add a basis for an argument, when the picture in itself holds no merit other than showing that the games have a 3rd person camera view. :P
You're still missing it, your posts read as if Sony only makes these games which they clearly don't, and that's without talking about how wrong it's to call these games the same just because they have a strong story focus.
I mean... Muspelheim and Niflheim were glorified challenge areas and Jotunheim is really just an endgame cutscene.
I have no problem with the amount of content in the game, it was packed with stuff to do but it was a little disappointing how they show you a map screen of 9 realms and only three of them are of any consequence. Especially as you go to the meatiest realm other the Midgard very early on, so there's an expectation the rest of the game will continue like that. Full appreciate we'll see the others in the sequel though.
Dialogue, exploration, and graphics have gotten as much praise as the combat.

You not liking the game doesn't mean other people are wrong. It has a 9.2 user rating on metacritic too.

Agreed OP. I bought it, beat it, and forgot it extremely quickly. I would not buy a sequel.
And I don't know why I thought this game would somehow rise above that for me. I figured there would at least be some cool ass bosses (looking at the snake in the pre-release coverage was like "oh shit that's what they're showing us now? These bosses are going to be crazy!!"), but I disliked nearly every facet of this game, outside of how the axe feels to throw, and that doesn't carry the game at all for me.
And I don't know why I thought this game would somehow rise above that for me. I figured there would at least be some cool ass bosses (looking at the snake in the pre-release coverage was like "oh shit that's what they're showing us now?
