10 hours in, playing the Complete Edition and i'm about to drop the game.

I played a lot, by a lot i mean at least 20-25 open world titles in the last 5/6 years and Horizon is yet another title with the same "game loop" and nothing fresh and new from a gameplay prospective.

- The graphics and the settings are SO GOOD, there's no doubt about it i love the dinorobot design and the OST as well

- The meele combat system is garbage, i see a lot of people criticizing The Witcher 3 but here it's worse. The ranged combat system is ok, it's fun but again i was expecting more, the IA is bad as well, especially the humans, they are so stupid.

- The biggest problem: the side quests are boring, the Focus side quests are litterally copied from The Witcher 3 Witcher vision when you have to follow a trail for several meters, and even the other quests are Ubisoft-like tier i still didn't find a proper and interesting side quest or even interesting NPCs, they are all dull.

I don't know, visually the game is really good, but the gameplay loop is just boring: "Collect things" --> craft arrows --> Go in the bush ---> Stealth Kill ---> Collect things ---> Craft repeat. This is what i was doing for like 80% of my free roam time. Props to GG for including a lot of NPCs from various races.

Help me ERA, how can i enjoy Horizon?

Maybe stick to the story missions? Otherwise there's nothing wrong with putting it down. Everyone can't like everything.

I have a bunch of issues with it too but boring and repetitive wasn't one of them.

Just drop it.

Sounds like you've put enough time into it to know what the game is. If you're not enjoying it yet then it's probably not for you.

Yeah, it is. I like the mindlessness of it when paired with a podcast, it's how I play most Ubisoft titles. But it's certainly nothing special for the genre outside of the graphics.

At least, you got 10 hours into it. I dropped it an hour after the game become an open world. I just know these games becomes boring fetch quests.

You know, after playing AC Origins, I just couldn't play the Horizon DLC.

I actually liked the main game though.

Melee combat is bad. Stick to bows, ropes, and slingshots.

I loved the side quests though. They all told great stories, especially the ones that expanded ipon the lore and told stories about the past before the apocalypse.

I tried, but they are level based, i can't do a lvl 15 mission when i'm 10 and i'm playing in Hard.

Oh wait what? That sounds like a weird design decision for the main quest.

Also, you could try knocking it down to medium/easy - which'll make the boring combat go a little faster.

If you didn't enjoy it so far... I don't see you enjoying it later.

To me it was one of the most enjoyable games last year.

game is amazing but it's all operating under the standard open world/far cry-ish foundation. so if that isn't really your bag it's going to be kind of a slog when all's said and done

I'm sorry you found it boring. Move on.

I loved the game personally and it was one of my games of the year.

Stealth kills are OP on the lower difficulties. Stop hiding in bushes. Set that shit to Hard. You'll find yourself using a wider variety of weapons pretty quickly. Set traps and use the rope caster for tying machines down when you're up against a group so you can focus on them one at a time, snipe explosive weak points...or prepare to get your ass whooped.

Yeah if you're not enjoying it at this stage OP I would just drop it. You've seen what the game is all about and it doesn't change later down the line.

No, the gameplay loop isn't boring, you're boring.

If that's all you can come up with for encounters with the options the game has given you then yeh, maybe you should go play something else.

If you prefer stealth and want a good stealth game then play the latest hitman. But if you dare make a thread saying that game is boring after playing it then I will kindly suggest you find a new hobby that stimulates you.

I can't say I didn't enjoy HZD while I was playing it. But the moment I finished it, it left my brain almost immediately. It's a game that left no impact on me whatsoever.

Have you tried to lower down the difficulty? I find hard mode too much for me, it became fun once i lowered it down

I'd just stick to the main story. The side-quests aren't anything to write home about. The hunting ground missions are great though. If you're still not enjoying it,it's not the end of the world.

If you find it boring, i dont think theres much that can be said to change your opinion on that. What would you like to see been done differently, so that you would enjoy the game more?

I stuck to the main story only, I found the sidequests, the game loop, and world very uninteresting.

It does get better in the back half of the game, but its a Ubisoft open world type game through and through.

Its redeeming factor is the robo dinosaurs are so cool, but stealth is overpowered, its easy to take most of them down.

Good first attempt at an open world action rpg though, no doubt sequel will be greatly improved.

The writing was pretty bad too, that was one of my biggest disappointments in the game, considering so many people at launch were putting it right up there with The Witcher 3.

Pretty game, though.

Seconded, accept it's a bad game with an interesting world as your opinion. A shame I didn't like the story itself.

I really didn't enjoy it for the reasons you listed more or less.

Restart the game, set it to it's easiest setting and enjoy the main storyline. That's at least worth playing through the game for. If you feel like you're not enjoying that, then drop it altogether.

The game is just as much designed around melee combat as your avarge first person shooter is: not. It's a last resort when distance is too little to shoot projectiles. Use as much stealth as possible, lay traps and shoot stuff. Experiment with that.

For me, 2 hours of playing felt like 15 minutes, so I guess it's not for you and you should drop it. It's one of my favorite games this gen.

Do not worry about side quests just do the main quest. And here is the importan part! Do not fast travel! Focus on the the open world and the dinosaurs. Fighting the mech dinosaurs in the open world is by far the best part of the game!

I found the difficulty to be a bit out of whack and the post processing too heavy.
Not the most fun experience but the visuals and sharp bow and trapping game kept me going.
Oh and i hated all the inventory managment.

The combat was so good it motivated me all the way to the platinum. You get so many cool upgrades and new weapons so you can always have variety in an already satsifying combat loop. While I agree with the melee complaints early on I loved the powerful melee you had at the end of the game. My only complaint was that stealth against human enemies usually was about picking them off from the distance. I never got to strategically take out a heavy/leader or at least not without lots of sniping prep work.

Just drop it and sells the game. I bought it in the launch and I was extremely bored by everything on it besides feeling disappointed, which made me sell the game one month later.

Don't fast travel, find the cauldrons, focus on the main story missions as much as possible, be more experimental with the tools at your disposal, upgrade your equipment, and use melee attacks as little as possible. Yeah, combat against humans is bad, so ignore their camps when possible. If you need to do one, just try to headshot everyone from a distance.

Combat against the robots was always exhilarating for me, so I went out of my way to fight them often.

Not sure why you'd compare a game with melee combat focus with a game with ranged focus.

But there's no 'help' for you.

If you don't like it, stop playing it.

Millions love it, you're allowed not to.

Oh shut up and let people have their own opinion! Myself didn't like The Last Of Us, yes i found boring and i drop it after 2h off gameplay, should i find a new hobby too because i didn't like "one of the best games made"?

OP I was like you and then I stopped being a hoarder and started buying new weapons. Combat got a lot better once I experimented with different stuff and got that shield armor. When you say craft arrows, is the bow all you're using?
