Worst collectors editions of games.

Yall have absolutely NO idea how disappointed I was when I saw the box for this. Dead Space 2 CE, that thing looked like a fckn HAPPY MEAL TOY. Luckily the game was decent but Jesus Christ this was terrible. I'd rather prefer the Artbook+Tiny Toy AC1 than this.

My main takeaway from this thread is that pretty much all collector's editions look fine in marketing material but turn out to be very poorly made and just extremely low effort products. The objective is just to make you pay more, with no intention to deliver a quality product.

CE that don't include the game are just the most insulting. Making you pay premium price for nothing but cheap ass goodies.

I'm still happy with my ACII Ezio statue though.

Probably because gaming is one of my main hobbies and I like displaying items for games I've loved over the years. You're really questioning people for collecting and displaying gaming items on a gaming forum?

I only get SE's or Blizzard's CEs usually as they generally appreciate quite a bit. Other AAA ones usually gets deeply discounted only after a few months at my local EB.

The most impressive thing about this is that not only does it seem like a legitimately good value (if you happen to actually want most of these things yourself and are a millionaire), but the fact that there's no way Take 2 would be allowed to offer this without filling out contracts and licensing to actually get a hold of most of the things here.

lmaooooooooo i remember when i walked into gamestop and the cashier handed me the collectors edition, i was like isn't the box supposed to be bigger? when i got home and opened up and saw this mannnnn i legit felt soooo ripped off, so much so i started laughing.

Dude...when I bought it, i got the box and stared at the associate for a good minute just waiting. Direct eye contact. The associate looked at me like "uhhh...?" I was like "Oh, this CE was supposed to come with a replica of the blaster? I'm just waiting on you to grab that"

Associate: "Dude..it's in the box..."

Funny, how the grand majority of these are from western games. I'm glad I stopped buying into these cheap moneygrabs; only collectors/special editions worth the extra money are the ones that include: FULL soundtrack, hefty artbooks, and in the case of multi-game Nintendo games, the games are all included in 1 cart (Fire Emblem Fates, Bayonetta 1/2 Switch), and no digital download code bullshit.

The Witcher 2 pic is super fake.

My Witcher 3 statue is horrifying (but I can't find my pictures, just imagine Geralt looking as though his eyes were gorged out)

lmaooooooo, yesssssss it was such a WTF moment. XD I remember i immediately checked online to see unboxings and see what forums were saying about this, THEY WERE PISSED.

It's Mass Effect Andromeda... so is that really a bad thing?

I will say that all of the statues are really disappointing. It's upsetting especially because I like figures a lot, but I want them to be of quality and am willing to pay for that. I really wish they would go smaller and more detailed as it would be a trade-off to an extent cost wise. The fact most of these things are around a foot tall or so is absurd. A 7 inch, highly detailed figure is gorgeous. A quality one usually runs about $80-$100 and looks damn good. For a $150ish CE, that would be perfect.

The statue looks pretty good in person, EXCEPT for the swords. They look like cheap plastic, and the silver/gold paint job is terrible.

So it looks like a statue of a magnificent undead knight... holding two plastic swords.

Not complaining though, the steelbook is really nice and the artbook is good.

It's actually pretty nice when they don't include the game. I have noticed they tend to be available at a later date very cheap. I got Battlefield 1 collectors (no game, already had game also) for $12 new.

Side note if you take the slider with the dudes face off the box it's a decent sturdy black box to hold thing. Keep some cords and random stuff need once in a blue moon

Yeah, i dont buy CE's for western games anymore, under any circumstance. I only buy CE's for Japanese games, mainly Nintendo, but hell even Japanese publishers are starting to get lazy with theirs now. CAPCOM i'm looking at you ----->

I'm always amused at how terrible most AAA collector/limited/special/hellspawn editions are, when companies like Idea Factory and NIS put out niche titles with significantly better ones for what most consider lesser games, and they're usually not that much more than the usual game prices. Some of my NIS and Xseed games came with mini Nendoroids!

I kind of want the MVCI set if only for the Captain Marvel figure. I actually kind of like all the figures except the Chun-Li one because I'm just not a fan, but I've been waiting for it to go clearance at Best Buy.

Koei can kind of bite me about the Nights of Azure and Ninja Gaiden ones. They're never worth the much increased price. And sampler soundtracks are awful as an extra cost. As an extra bonus for first runs of a game like the Etrian Odyssey games it's fine but calling it the soundtrack is annoying.

NIS and XSEED, both do good in producing quality stuff, only problem is that for me personally, i'm not really a fan of the games they publish or produce for the most part.

This thread reminds me why I don't buy these things. The whole concept of buying a statue of a character of a game I haven't even played yet is also a bit foreign to me.

Every collector's edition ever. Dust collecting junk, all of it. The only collectible I've ever actually used was the map that came with every version of Morrowind.
