Don't forget that Gen 6 and Gen 7 takes place in an alternative universe where mega evolutions exist and events have been altered. The Blue mentioned in X and Y, as well as the Blue seen in Sun and Moon, might have a completely different history and personality than the one from Gens 1 to 5.

Come to think of it, since I have a sneaking suspicion that this new remake might take place in this new universe, it would not surprise me, should rumors be true, to find Blue in this game is just a cocky but still good hearted kid who's traveling with Red on their own Pokemon adventure.

Seeing those Sun and Moon pictures only serves to remind me how much I loathe the player character's dumb facial expression. Ugh.

Idk, maybe he wants to broaden his horizons after his total loss of his champion title. He still uses his "smell you later" line in future games, or at least he did in BW2.

The clerk literally sells you tokens so you can gamble, and in any moment in the game you're told that you can't gamble or you can't get your own coin bag.

I think it's impressive there is Nintendo Game Series with an even more complicated timeline than The Legend of Zelda.

I hope they at least continue to let you name your rival so I can pretend it's still Blue/Green/Gary with a stupidass haircut and a chill pill. But the question is, which name will I go with?

It would be great if in addition to the player character and pokemon customization that has already been shown, the player could somehow influence rival customization also. Basically what I'm getting at here is the option to give him Gary hair.
Like maybe you enter the haircut/clothing/customization shop, triggering a little scene where Trace Gary is already inside and turns to the player to say, "I was considering shaking up my style, [player]! What do you think?" followed by similar customization options as the player character.

A superfluous option like that is definitely not happening because gamefreak always treats development like it's one indie dev sitting in a cardboard box working 95 hour weeks alone on a vic 20, but I can still dream.

That's certainly a possibility. But at the very same, Blue is still clearly afforded the same opportunities as you are by his grandfather, so I don't understand where this narrative that he's this insecure boy who's frustrated by all special treatment Oak gives to Red comes from when the only thing overtly negative Oak ever does is rightfully call the kid out on his snotty attitude and failure to treat his Pokemon right. Blue is, at the end of the day, a spoiled kid with a famous relative.
