Ahh, I suppose I could get it if its just 5€ then! No, it's level based. More like each level is a Zelda style combat/puzzle dungeon with a boss at the end.

That looks right up my alley, thanks!Maybe Magician Lord? It's an excellent game with awesome music:

Yo, a week from now, i'll be flying to pretty much the opposite side of the globe - which means roughly 20 hours in flights each way, and i'm wondering which games to purchase / preload on my Switch.
For reference:
I completed Mario Odyssey, Mario + Rabbids, BotW, Steamworld Dig 1+2, Golf Story, Cave Story, Dandara, Steamworld Heist, Shantae
Like halfway through Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze.
Sunk 80 hours into mindlessly slashing my way through Hyrule Warriors.
Sunk 100+ hours into Stardew Valley.
Bayonetta didn't really click with me, sadly.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 didn't either.
Neither do i feel like jumping back into Skyrim.
Finished Doom and Wolfenstein on the PS4.
I already saved up Hollow Knight (it's so hard not to hit play on that!), but i'd love something a little less 'engaging', no platformer or Roguelike - Something i can play while listening to the audio of an in-flight movie. Also, i'll be getting Captain Toad when it's released, but that game feels more like a bite sized thing, nothin that'd keep me busy for multiple-hour-long sessions.
Is Battle Chasers - Nightwar any good? I'm in the mood for something with a progression system and some turn based combat, but with not too much complexity. Like - less complex than Xenoblade Chronicles 2 or Octopath, but more complex than the progression systems in Mario+Rabbids, if that makes any sense
- And with not too much talking to people, walking through towns...
(I feel like Octopath would be a bit too JRPG-y?, and the art-style doesn't really appeal to me)
Appreciative about any and all recommendations.
So I am not plussed 100% by Battlehasers. Its neither great nor bad. Honestly I'd wait for a better price on it. Battle system is okay, story okay, artstyle is great, but overall it didn't hook me.
There are a couple other traditional RPGs on Switch. Things like Dragon Sinker, or if you want tactical the Mercenaries Saga. I am going to recommend you check out Earthlock. It was a KS game that recently got a major overhaul of nearly everything and that took it from an okay rpg to a good one.
More importantly it will check off a lot of your wants.
Turn based, with some nuance but not really complex
You can ignore pretty much all the people walking around, and even then they highlight/point out who you need to talk to.
Interesting world. Solid ensemble cast.
Not strict Fantasy but a mix with Sci Fi stuff.
Maybe watch a video of the updated version of the game. It is just called Earthlock now. I recommend it, but it does seem to have been ignored here.
Fair but what I really meant is that Battlechasers isn't worth $30 but Earthlock is worth its asking price.Seeing how we're about to splurge 120 bucks on reserving two adjacent seats (as well as Window + Aisle) for one of the 6 flights (albeit the longest, 10 hours), price isn't all that much of a concern.
But i'll look into Dragon Sinker. Though, not all that attracted to the retro aesthetics, i must admit.
Mugsters is £9.99/$14.99/€14.99 across Steam, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch :)This looks like the sequel to Blast corps I always wanted, do we have a price yet?

Right in the middle of that one, couldn't wait ... loving it so far. Though that's not really a "plane game" for me, because for whatever reason, i always need to take a break after like 2 battles. Same thing happened with the main game. And the Mario+Rabbits DLC with Donkey Kong campaign seems to be around 5 hours or something. I haven't yet finished that myself, but DK plays very different compared to the base game game characters.

Thanks for the recommendation, though - i'll look into Dragon Sinker.

Highly recommend West of Loathing (though admittedly it's not complex).Yo, a week from now, i'll be flying to pretty much the opposite side of the globe - which means roughly 20 hours in flights each way, and i'm wondering which games to purchase / preload on my Switch.

What about games with a horror setting that are not really scary? In Goetia, you play a ghost, and without really spoiling anything, Goetia is a practice that includes the conjuration of demons. If you like point and click games with some very good puzzles, I would highly recommend this. Are there any horror games on the Switch I might've missed? I already own Layers of Fear, Detention and Perception. I know of both Outlast games, but I'm not really interested in those two since I can get a physical PS4 version pretty cheap these days. Don't Knock Twice I've heard is genuinely bad, but I can't think of much else.

I'm curious on this as well, as if it can hold a steady 60FPS on Switch Im totally buying it. Looks really fun.

Meanwhile, I gave 20XX a shot in between Mega Man sessions and yeah, this is fucking brilliant. It controls really well for me (bar the right stick issues mentioned above, but I can adapt) and the enemies/bosses so far seem a nice blend of fair and tough. I can see me pouring dozens of hours into this. I can see the Switch fast turning into a Mega Man platform for me...
Ungh, I just started practicing MM2 speedruns yesterdays and I haven't finished all of Legacy Collection yet, and I told myself I should just play that instead of buying a new game...
But 20xx looks so cool

Personally I think Battle chasers is great and its almost entirely combat focused, the town is menu based so its very streamlined and takes virtually no time at all. Combat system is easy to learn but there is depth there especially in terms of finding a good combination of party members. It's also a very different tone than most of the japanese RPG's, has some beautiful colorful artwork (looks nice 1080p docked) and I love the music. Many people felt like the price was too high though - personally I was fine since I loved this game on PC and bought it digital on switch so I can play it any time, but I do think its a little pricey considering how many great RPG's are on switch
How about The Banner Saga? Turn based combat, good story, not too complicated.Yo, a week from now, i'll be flying to pretty much the opposite side of the globe - which means roughly 20 hours in flights each way, and i'm wondering which games to purchase / preload on my Switch.

Battle Chasers Nightwar, I played 10 hours and couldn't get into it. Combat felt too repetitive. Despite having clearly deep systems at play, every combat situation turned into using the exact same strategy each time... despite the enemy actions.
Contrast this game with Cosmic Star Heroine next month and its combat blows this away. You're right about the art style/graphics, they do look extremely nice, but everything else felt barren. The story moved at a snail's pace and didn't provide a meaty hook to keep playing. Overall, I was disappointed in my $40 spent on the game. CSH is going to be $15 on release and I already know (played about 10 hours on PC) that its a much better game.
That's a good suggestion! I need to buy the first game, but I'm waiting for a sale before I try it out. ... Or just some more free time. How about The Banner Saga? Turn based combat, good story, not too complicated.
Wow I guess I dodged a bullet with Battle Chasers, sounds disappointing, this is why I'm extremely picky with who I trust when looking fot RPG impressions. Turn based combat is tricky because you need a good, engaging combat system but unless you also nail encounter design and difficulty balance in general, it's useless.Battle Chasers Nightwar, I played 10 hours and couldn't get into it. Battlechasers is worth $10 at best. I wasted $6 on the PS4 version because I'm never going to play beyond the two hours I put into it, which I didn't really enjoy.Fair but what I really meant is that Battlechasers isn't worth $30 but Earthlock is worth its asking price.

I know they're working on it, but I need SE to announce a western release like yesterday. So, SaGa: Scarlet Grace just popped up on the Japanese eShop for release in early August.

This week I found out that the Web interface to the eShop is broken and doesn't display everything. I saw that Flinthook was on sale here, but I couldn't find it at all with the "Sales" filter. (And yes I pressed the "Show more" button at the bottom)

I'm not seeing any search function anywhere on that page.
It's also not the point. If I select the sales filter I should be seeing everything without having to specifically search for things I may not be aware are on sale.
