Sorry to ask, but this game is releasing on the PS4 too, right?
I thought so for the title and link to the PS4 webstore but I couldn't find anything on google or their twitter.

But what about PlayStation 4? "Yes, the PS4 version is coming," a Fatshark spokesperson told me this morning. "We don't have a date for it yet, but will communicate that soon. We don't expect it to be too far away, but we want to do one system at a time to be able to maintain the highest quality of the releases."

The loot/progression system seems better that what I tried of the first and it looks lovely on the X but man I wish there was a performance option on the X to take it from 30FPS at 4K to 60fps.
I don't normally moan about frame rate if it's a locked 30 but this action and melee gameplay would really benefit from it.

I didn't realise a mod was responsible for the first game's success. Where did you hear/read that?

Literally myself and everyone I knew used the 3rd person mod. Modders for VT2 listed it as one of their first endeavours.

"Nowadays the most popular mod is Grimalackt's Quality of Life collection, with its toggleable options like third-person camera, the Stormvermin Mutation, and those bot improvements I l like so much."

https://www.pcgamer.com/vermintide-2-mods/

Steam mods made this game so much better than the base experience. Again, I never understood these first person games with RPG mechanics and outfitting (Destiny, especially) when you almost never saw your toon outside of a status screen or an emote.

Beautiful Province of Quebec.
I will try this since I have Gamepass but the first one was almost impossible to play solo, way too hard near the end of the first scenario, its like the number of ennemies stays adjusted to 4 players so you get ganked pretty fast solo...never tried with random or friends though so I cant dock points to it for that...I think I played 2 of the free weekend deals on PC and XBox.

Pretty sure when i played by myself the 3 slots are taken up by bots....?

I need to play the first a bit more before i play the second.

To be fair, Destiny's controls are a big selling point and one of it's best features, I mean it is from the Original Halo team after all

Played the beta and it's really fun, though I don't really do much co-op nowadays. It's fun even with bots, though.

They're filled by bots, yes. In Vermintide 2, you can finish the first two difficulties just fine with bots since they're more consistent than new players, the third difficulty is doable but in any case they always prefer healing over loot-improving books.
Don't forget that your bots are filled with the characters you have created, meaning their last used class and items. If you leave them all on level 1 they'll be weak.

Thanks for this! That last bit of info could save a lot of frustration.

Beta was fantastic. Got up to level 14 with 3 characters. Can't wait to see the other levels. So fun.

Just played through the prologue/tutorial and it's GREAT. Looks really sharp on the X.

You need to turn Aim Acceleration off though. It's on by default and feels horrible. I turned it off and whacked aim sensitivity up to 4 and it feels so much better to play.

Just checked and its on Gamepass but it's 29.99 CAD so maybe 19 or 24.99 US...? not bad at all.

I think I paid $47.99.

For those of you who are going to try it on Gamepass, be patient. It can take a few levels to understand the flow of the game. Make sure you start on Recruit difficulty, and even that can be tough at the beginning. You get loot at the end of each completed level that can dramatically improve your "power". The weapon loot drops for the character you are using, but the the trinkets, necklaces, and charms can be equipped on all of your characters.

There are tomes and grimoires hidden in the levels that improve the ending loot if you find them...but they increase the difficulty by shortening you life bar (grimoire), or taking up the space for a healing item(tome). Remember that you can drop a tome after you've picked it up, pick up a healing item, heal, and then pick the tome back up.

You can heal other players with the med pack by equipping it and then running up to them. The game will prompt you to hold LT to heal them. You can hand them a healing or buffing potion(if they aren't carrying one) by doing the same thing.

It's a really great co op game, even with randoms.

Remember to block and dodge.

Absolutely. Turn aiming up to 1.2 on vertical and horizontal, at least. I also turned off motion blur. Glad they added the ability to turn of the acceleration,I didn't see that in the beta.

Game is stunning on the X1, man.

No need to play with bots. You don't have to talk to people, and I haven't run into a single griefer, having played the beta for at least 15 hrs.

Players can replace bots on the fly, mid game.

Remember to block and dodge.
On lower difficulties you can get away with a lot of damage, especially once you hit level 20 and gain life on kills (gamechanger).
On Legend difficulty, you learn to block and dodge for your life (and to ALWAYS watch your back) because even the weakest enemy hits like a truck.

Is the loot aspect good?
That's very subjective.

I'll describe it:

- After every mission, you get a box with 3 random items
- Items have a power level, your total hero power level (which influences your damage) is 10*your level + the average of your 5 item slots
- Every item you find can be +/- 5 of your current power level, up to a maximum of 300, which means you slowly (but surely) get closer to the maximum power
- Items differ in rarity, higher rarity has more special attributes and the highest item rarity has optimal numbers on all attributes so there's a defined stats ceiling for everything
- You can increase the chance of getting higher rarity items by doing quickplay (joining a random game), finding and carrying books in the levels to the end, finding loot dice etc. plus a little random bonus.
- If you don't want an item, you can salvage it. Salvaged items let you reroll the attributes/traits of an item infinitely and craft new weapons of a certain type
- Most of the attributes/traits are situational for your build, like if you need more health and stamina to block, or more damage against specific enemy types, or if you want to go for crits, stuff that affects your resource management etc.
- Once you get close to optimal gear, you continue to grind for cosmetics
