There are so many games in the Eshop, It's hard to keep up. An eshop recommendations thread would great but not sure whether it would be allowed given we have the monthly thread. It would be great to get a list of people's recommendations as its hard to remember what was released a few months back let alone what the consensus is on quality.

Yes, I would really appreciate some handheld impressions of Bomber Crew too. I just need to know if it bugs out. I'm already sold on the game.

I'll add a bit, a bit later. The ama on reddit with these two guys that made it, seemed pretty neat though!

Anyone try Hunting Simulator yet? I have a copy from Best Buy in the mail at home, no access to it. I always enjoy these unique takes on games that aren't so mainstream in ways.

Wherever
Hollow Knight has been incredible but gonna wait for the next DLC to release before I beat it. Pato Box has been fun, need to try Arcade Mode though. Stuck in New York on Wolfenstein. Ys VIII is surprisingly fun. Crash Trilogy is harder than I expected. Lumines is music/rhythmn nostalgia heaven. Mario + Rabbids DLC is awesome. Octopath, Captain Toad, Cosmic Star Heroine, and Okami are pre-loaded on my Switch. Deadcells will be purchased ASAP. Considering also picking up Megaman X Collection 1, Wasteland 2 (need convincing/impressions), Titan Quest (same), Monster Hunter and a few more...

Summer has become crazy for high quality Switch releases 0.o

Thanks for the recommendations. Seems to be some common games that people recommend so I guess I'll start with Celeste and Hollow Knight. Currently playing through Bloodstained and am enjoying it.

As far as recommending games, don't forget about all the Neo Geo games on Switch. On top of this, the system has a fantastic library of 2D horizontal and vertical shooters too, it's very impressive.

Yeah I played X at release, but that was a long time ago!

I'm decent at a robot named fight and not great at flintlock - one boss down and rank 9.

This would be almost entirely for coop with my wife.
Then this should be a good fit for you. This is closer to Fight than Flintlock but much closer still to X/Zero. You guys should definitely enjoy it.

I got Goetia on the reccomendation here after not knowing it existed, and it's really cool so far. But every time I have to read a book in handheld mode I'm like

I keep hearing about West of Loathing here, what's so great about it?

Has Lumines been patched yet?

Been holding off on that one waiting for the performance issues to be sorted.

I'd be playing in portable mode, no interest in TV, is it better or worse that way?

If it's still dodgy then I can hold off.

West of Loathing is funny, has lots of secrets, doesn't overstay its welcome, and has a basic yet engaging RPG setup. If you like Kingdom of Loathing's humor, you'll find plenty of it here.

West of Loathing has made me laugh out loud every time I boot it up. It has truly, very clever writing, and is so aware of itself as a game. It's also just a fun little RPG with great pacing, and offers novel takes on classic RPG elements, classes, enemies, and stereotypes. I honestly enjoy its caricaturization of the genre much more than the South Park games.

Here's my list based on what I've purchased but I'm leaving off/not mentioning the games I didn't like.

Amazing
Darkest Dungeon
Hollow Knight
Inside
Mom Hid My Game!
Rocket League
Severed
Shovel Knight
Steamworld Heist
Sushi Striker (not eshop exclusive but I had to sneak it in!)
VVVVVV

Great
Celeste
Kingdom: New Lands
Mighty Gunvolt Burst
N++
Night in the Woods
Oxenfree
Stardew Valley (Not my kind of game but the quality is unquestionable)
Steamworld Dig 1 & 2
Thumper
Tumbleseed
West of Loathing
Wild Guns: Reloaded
Yoku's Island Express

Good
Battle Chef Brigade
Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon
Butcher
Crawl
Crypt of the Necrodancer
Dragon Blaze (and Gunbarich, Gunbird, SolDivide. All good games!)
Enter the Gungeon
The Flame in the Flood
Flinthook
Just Shapes & Beats
Little Inferno
Lumines Remastered (I'd rank it higher if I was more into puzzle games)
Shantae: Half-Genie Hero
Vostok, Inc.
Wizard of Legend

Now that I made my list I'm realizing there are more than a few that aren't digital only. Regardless, I won't add any more retail games (particularly the obvious ones).

Can somebody give me some tips for Darkest Dungeon. I am booting it up again because I loved the style, the setting and the idea behind it but I never could get into it. What are some things I should absolutely do and know? What to look out for?

When I first played it the amount of stats and the way the menu's worked really threw me off. I am going to try and push through this time.

I'd say watch some YouTube clips, and see how the humor hits you. I felt it went for an over the top quirky style, which didn't really generate laughs for me. Nothing was very subtle or seemed built up. I only played an hour or so before getting a bit tired of the aesthetic, and overly trying very hard, twangy "retro" styled soundtrack. Game play seemed decent, in a light rpg kind of way. Definitely a text heavy experience, more than any other aspect to the game, from what I could tell anyway.

No patch yet. The main performance issues on Switch seems to be related to a memory leak, so if you play for a long time, the game will slow down. Reboot would fix it. Another general performance thing is that the levels are completely reloaded on a retry, which slows down the gameplay for the puzzle levels, for example.

At the moment, I'd say that playing with the Joycons (portable or docked) would be the best for Lumines Remastered, since it has separate direction on the "D-pad". Stick support will be added in the patch.

Quite interesting this idea of the lists, I love lists, everybody loves lists, so here is my selection of the games that I have enjoyed the most in Switch.

GOAT tier:
The End is Nigh
The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+
Arcade Archives: Star Force
Don't Die Mr. Robot DX
Ninja Shodown
Levels+ : Addictive Puzzle Game
VOEZ
Kingdom: New Lands
Mom Hid My Game!
Atomik: RunGunJumpGun
Pinball FX3
Toki Tori 2+

Stellar:
Runner3
Rogue Aces
Membrane
Detention
Puyo Puyo Tetris
Spelunker Party
Yodanji
Arcade Archives: Mario Bros
Snake Pass
Graceful Explosion Machine
Knight Terrors

Good:
Celeste
Dragon Fang Z
Space Dave
Ambition of the Slimes
Wheels of Aurelia
Tumblestone
Agatha Knife
Conga Master Party
Thumper
Puzzle Adventure Blockle
Rudymical
ACA Neo Geo: Zed Blade
Pirate Pop Plus
Snipperclips
Human Resource Machine
Fast RMX
N++
Inversus Deluxe
Ironcast
Deemo
The Pinball Arcade
Litchtspeer
Vostok Inc

I have purchased a lot more of games, probably a lot of them can easily enter in this list, such as 'Darkest Dungeon', 'Death Road to Canada' or 'Lode Runner Legacy'. But I'm trying to be honest, only highlighting my most played games.

There are also a lot of games that I have enjoyed having a really fun time, such as 'Garage' , '#Breakforcist Battle' or 'Gonner', but once again, I'm trying to be honest, only highlighting those that are still resonating in my mind.

And there are quite intriguing games with the potential of become hidden gems, such as 'Sheppy', 'The Count Lucanor' or 'Pan-Pan', but I need to play them for more than 10 minutes.

And there are even games in my hall of shame: games that I already had in Steam without playing more than 10 minutes, that I bought again in Switch without playing a single minute, with 'Oxenfree', 'Lovers in Dangerous Spacetime' or 'Shovel Knight: Treasure of Trove' being amongst the worst offenders.

20XX indeed runs like a champ in portable mode but I wish you could remap dash to ZR and I can't use my pro controller without completely desyncing my joycons.

That aside, this is the 20XX I remember. Definitely a great addition to the library and worth it for any Mega Man and/or roguelite fans.

Still no Bomber Crew impressions - _-;

Played through the tutorial. Port wise: Performance feels nice and smooth so far. Not sure about stick navigation for menus yet, but my impressions are that they're functional, but I really don't have a good handle on the game at this point.

Edit; And oh yeah framewise and resolution both feel very competent also!

Very nicely polished, sound design and graphic style work well for the game overall. I'm intrigued, and excited to get deeper into this, and create Bomber Crew with the intent of them dying an honorable death fairly quickly at the start!
