I mean, I really don't want to lead a mob against someone or anything like that.

It's just bizarre to keep posting about other videos and stuff, hah.

Well, sorry for missing this, then.

But maybe you should have said that at some point instead of just linking your own tweet (and literally just the link) without any context...? Maybe it's unfair to read bad faith from it, but dropping that here and then never acknowledging it was just a guess when people got riled up thanks to it's not a great thing to do.

That being said, I still don't understand how (apparently) none of us saw that you were posting your own tweet, an hour after indicating you hadn't played the game yet.

We're all geniuses, here.

Hey man, you're all good. Don't worry.

I should've clarified more.

Have you clarified yet how you came to the conclusion in your tweet without a review copy of the game? Was worded as a definitive statement, and not something backed up by any other person yet.

No pitchforks—I'd like it to be true, and there's some suggestive connections in the prologues—but your source would be nice.

So if there is no story stuff beyond the 4 chapters for each character, I hope there's at least a superboss/post-game dungeon that unlocks after you complete all 8 stories. It doesn't need to involve the plot at all, I just want the game to give you SOMETHING as a reward for beating all of the stories.

I mean, with 100 hours of content, the prologues' optional superbosses, the amount of 10* villagers who drop powerful equipment, and Bravely's history, I think it's extremely safe to see there's significant and challenging optional endgame content.

Can't.

On a technicality, it's breaking embargo.

It's for a site that's not listed in my bio though, I can tell you that much.

I appreciate your posting in this thread

however you're still not at a point to call that tweet 100% misinformation. obviously this will be a semantics thing but 8 individual stories that hold up on their own sounds like 8 individual stories with a beginning, middle, and end. that's how I'm taking it, anyway. so if there is a bonus after having beaten all 8 paths then it would follow the individual stories that were said to hold up on their own.

also your post about seeing credits after beating 4 of the 8 paths lends some credence to this tweet

that tweet implies that there is a point in the game where reviewers might feel comfortable jumping off the game and writing their review, after having seen the credits roll, and that there might be something that they will miss if they do that

all of that is to say you very well could be right and these tweets are nothing more than misinformation. distinct possibility. however you aren't at a point where you can say that with any kind of certainty. that's really it. there could be something, there could be nothing.

looking forward to your review and despite my issues with your handling of this thread I appreciate all the work you do

Thats because there is an an optional area that requires level 60.

Wait the classic freelancer "make hype with vague tweet" was posted by the same person ? Self promoting ya Twitter is that against the forum rules?

Anyway, trying to resist speed running the demo so I can make a little bit more progress ahead of tomorrow.

So...what's the general consensus after more than 60 pages?

Alfyn is a strapping babe.

Posted his own tweet on here. People has been wondering if this is true or not considering conflicting information from various sources. He said to read the tea leaves because the embargo isn't up yet.

Hmm, well, it'll be interesting for sure to see how it plays out. Someone will talk about the Story structure in detail when the embargo lifts, so we'll see on Thursday. A grand pay-off sounds nice, but I'll enjoy the game no matter what the story turns out to be.

LMAO wow this thread has been a trip. So many crazy ups and downs to come back online to.

Gotta say though, after all this I think I'm on team idontbelieveyou.gif over that shadowforks tweet thing. Yeah I would super like there to be something more after each character wraps up, but I really don't think there will be.

So I just finished the demo (got through H'aanit, Alfyn, and Therion) and this might be a weird opinion but... I kind of think the lack of a "WORLD IS ENDING" over-arching story is refreshing?

I'm super invested into the three stories (and also played the Primrose demo and loved that one), and am down with the idea of seeing 8 different stories play out, each standing on their own while fleshing out the world of the games.

But maybe that's just me. I know there's been a lot of discussion in this thread about some sort of endgame for all 8 characters but, so far, I don't think I'll need one.

Anyone else planning on starting that 3 hour demo Thursday and just pretending the game came out a day early?

I really really can't decide if I want to keep my Demo file going or not. I started with Tessa but I didn't know at the time that I don't get to change my MC once you start. Maybe I should just lean into it lol.

Will erasing the prologue demo also erase the demo's save files? I'm assuming it won't, but don't want to keep it around if it's not needed.

Lmao I'm pretty sure Olberic and Philip share voice actors with Fenrich and Emizel respectively, from Disgaea 4, this is weird.

I was going to do this, but since it said that some side quests might not be available in the demo, I'm just going to to start playing when I get the full game. I already know I'll love it from Primrose's old demo, now just gotta decide who I'll start with in the full game.

Has there been any previews that talked about the game's difficulty? That would be the only complaint about the demo, that it was a bit too easy. But can't really expect any different for the first couple hours of any video game really. And at the very least, I bet if using all 8 members in your party on a rotation and not purposely grinding will give the game a good difficulty.

Recent pictures of Alfyn are awakening things within me. Primrose being the most Kyra choice i have to stick by my decision. What im saying is.. we need a fanart thread.

Only thing related I've read about it was Jason saying the combat opens up later on becoming (even) more engaging, IIRC, however the game seems to change a lot after you get companions. I also got the impression that it was too easy but now I got Olberic to join me while playing as Tressa and his chapter 1 boss was relatively challenging... I mean it /hard/ but it was clear that if I had made a couple wrong moves I'd have probably lost, which is a good sign (my Tressa was lv8 and Olberic only 3, so they seem to scale with your strongest character, at least early game).

Also on that note, they changed the break mechanic a bit after the first demo so now the enemy doesn't lose a turn recovering from it anymore. In the first demo you could basically stun lock enemies due to how that worked, it was ridiculous.

Can't watch right now, what are the general impressions so far?

There's a world of difference between that and the tweet being actually wrong, and J Schreier only did the former.
No, there is not a world of difference. Expecting a game that starts off as a series of vignettes but soon turns into a grand overlapping story is far, far different than expecting a game that mostly consists of eight different stories and then has some bonus uniting stuff at the end. Shadowforks' tweet is false and should probably be deleted before it misinforms more people.

Im gonna start with the huntress, had a good time capturing beasts to use them pokemon-style. Looked like one of the most unique characters battle wise?

Speaking of side quests... Since they haven't really come up lately here, I do want to ask- it is true that you can approach them in multiple ways through your path actions, right? That sounds kinda rad if true.

I do think that could also end up frustrating for me - it might be annoying to unknowingly miss out on a much better conclusion because the solution I chose backfired, and so on - but at a glance, that's really cool.
