And I really wish we could get the first three re-released too. But that's probably too much to hope for.

Graphically the game is looking good, but I think Granzella could've done a better job with the trailer.

I have faith this will come out in English someday. Not as optimistic about City Shrouded in Shadow due to all the different licenses...here's hoping.

Did they not have enough frames for two games so they prioritised them for this and just did the best they could with City Shrouded in Shadow?

Have been wanting this game for so long, hope it gets localized. And City Shrouded in Shadow too, this one probably has it easier since its from Bandai.

Can't wait to finally get this. Still remember pre ordering this with Ryu Ga Gotoku Of the End back in the day and was gutted when it was canceled. Gotta get round to starting City Shrouded in Shadow today as well...

Been waiting for this since 2011! Hope it's good. Heard Kyouei Toshi has bad performance and only took 10 hours to platinum, probably just quick job for Bandai Namco to fund this game.

Played the first three chapters of Kyouei Toshi and its ok performance wise for the most part. Janky but very enjoyable. One bit at the end of the second chapter though definitely dived frame rate wise. If it wasn't such a unique concept I'd probably be more critical of it. Bloody funny in places as well, some of the dialogue options you can pick are really brilliant.

I was waiting for this moment. Loved the trailer. Very much looking forward to it. As someone who cannot shut up about Irem games, I'm so happy that their former staff formed Granzella. The trailer actually put some tears in my eyes. Despite its problems, I really enjoy Kyoei Toshi (aka City Shrouded in Shadow). They definitely haven't lost their touch when it comes down to hilarious dialogue choices and things happening in the game. Going by the older titles in the series, I'm sure ZZT4 will have a bit more gameplay mechanics than Kyoei Toshi too. Unlike the latter I think this has some very good chances getting an English localization.

They started development on the PS3. But after the 2011 Tohoku earthquake Irem pretty much stopped development on all their console titles and cancelled the game. Granzella bought the license for it some time ago and announced that they're working on it again, now as a PS4 title. Kyoei Toshi was actually a surprise announcement by them.

So ZZT4 is alive, good to know.
Seems normal for Granzella to continue the work they started before the launch of the City Shrouded in Shadow project.

By the way I don't know... The music here seems a bit off with the trailer shots. The first trailer handled this much better I think.

I'm wondering about this as well. I think I'm sitting at around 600 mil that I got early in the game and haven't found anything else since. In chapter 5 or so you can
raid a safe that has a number of items, including a few lottery tickets but I never made any money from the stuff I took

How are you finding the game by the way? I loved the first two Disaster Report games, never finished the third yet since the load times kinda sucked but my feelings on City Shrouded in Shadows change depending on the chapter. For example, later chapters like the last two I did (13 and 14) were fantastic as you had nice sequences where
Mech Godzilla and various Ultra Men are fighting, and some cool set pieces are made around those characters
however chapters 6 and 7? (I believe) were just a bore since
one chapter has you on a boat doing fetch quests between the front and back of the boat. Boring as heck and when something finally does happen, the action lasts for less than a minute! The chapter afterwards has a few of the large mechs at the docks but again almost nothing interesting happens.
Really annoyed me as they've got so many great "shadows" to use and in certain chapters they are barely used, while all the good chapters get plenty of action.
Definitely a game that is super rough round the edges, but its charm and humour (and Kaiju!) have me enjoying the game (well, most of the time!)

I haven't beaten the game yet, so I don't know how many steps there are, but there's an entire quest line around it. The emerald is basically the beginning. Once you reach the tower (the chapter after the bridge level) there's a NPC who is willing to sell his apparment to you. At first he's joking, but once you tell him you're serious, he will sell it to you. However, it's important that you tell him that you wouldn't immediately sell it for a high profit (because he's interested what you want to do with it), or else the value of the apparment will decrease and you get less when selling it. I think the next NPC you can purchase something from (and sell it for an even bigger profit) is the software company guy. The whole quest line is basically a "buy something for a high price and sell it for an even higher price" thing. It's always important to pick the right answer when they're asking you what you're going to do with the "thing" you bought from them so that its value doesn't decrease. It's funny, I wonder where it will all go.

It is in my disc drive since it arrived here, so that's how I find it usually! ;)


On my fifth or so playthrough! It's too bad items don't carry over between each playthrough though , it's probably my only complaint

Just got back from Tokyo with a shiny new copy of City Shrouded in Shadows. I have yet to play but what stood out for me in the trailer posted were the little details like the tactile ground surface indicators on the sidewalks. I love it when developers take the time to put things like this into a game. I hope that City Shrouded in Shadows has some of these nice little details too. Will keep my eye on Disaster Report 4.

I'm glad to hear the Kobe chief vouched for getting the fire department to collaborate with Granzella, so long as that leads to meaningful authenticity and believability. The developers have struggled so much, for so long, to get this game made after everything that happened around the 2011 tsunami period. Hopefully this gets a great English localization and release outside East Asia since the first two ZZT games got some of the worst localizations of their era.

One of my most anticipated titles next year, especially looking forward to the vr aspect of the game. Their last game "City Shrouded in Shadow" was such a fun game. I made the OT for it in the old place and I had such a blast playing through it. Can't wait to finally get to play disaster report 4 after all the many delays and cancellations over the years.

I don't have much hope in City Shrouded in Shadows making it overseas, because of the licensing nightmare, but I really hope this game gets a chance.|

I've been holding out for this game since its announcement, and its a miracle it was salvaged from cancellation. There are almost no games like this in this budget range, and its existence harkens back to the PS2 glory days when mid-tier games reigned supreme. To top it off, it actually looks pretty modern for what I am sure is a low budget game. Much better than how it looked on the PS3 and a massive jump from ZZT3.

Anyone have an idea which publishers might be interested in picking up this title to bring over here? Any particular localization company we can drop a line to show our interest? People who complain mid tier single player games don't exist anymore, make your voices heard! Don't sleep on this game, this is a unique game series that deserves more attention.

I have no hope either due to licensing issues unfortunately...I wonder how they brought over stuff loaded with different IPs like Project X Zone on the 3DS though.

Also - yes indeed it is a miracle that Disaster Report 4 is actually a thing now after the cancellation before.

Is there any trophy guide for City Shrouded in Shadows? I'm working through it now and have missed a few trophies along the way and wouldn't mind doing another run to pick up a few trophies I missed, but I can't find any guides for it (even in Japanese). Plus I'm tempted to just do a replay to enjoy certain encounters again, like:

the Mothra bridge chapter, the Godzilla/Ghidorah bike section, anything with Ultra Man etc.

One thing that really confused me in the game though, I forget the exact chapter number but at one point you end up
taking a break from running for your life to enjoy a short performance from a woman playing the piano/singing. It was a nice song, but am I the only person that would have held off performing until the city was monster free? Especially since seconds later the whole top half of the building gets destroyed!

I've found that this wiki in Japanese has a lot of, if not all of the trophy information. http://knst.wikiwiki7.com Its pretty complete with lots of information on the games details, secrets and such. I've also been meaning to go back and finish my second play through to get the rest of the trophies I don't have and just to enjoy all those fun scenes again.

Not only the craziness that this concert is happening in a city where all these disasters are going on, but everyone seems calm, and its happening at like 2am?! But its silly moments like that that make the game such a charm and so much fun.

I've been waiting for this game since I finished raw danger in 08. Please bring this to NA with a dub cast. Also HD up the other games too. I hope Sony or some developer out there is getting in contact with Granzella about this.

I don't know if XSEED/Marvelous USA's already pursuing game and if they have a deal to localize/publish it yet or not, but someone else made a thread on their forum suggesting they do so. I'd definitely like to see XSEED handle ZZT4 if that means finally getting something eons better than what Agetec barfed out with ZZT1/2. We might get a title more like "Desperate City" or "City of Certain Death" which is more accurate than Disaster Report or Raw Danger (though I suppose CoCD would join TitS (Trails in the Sky) as yet another sexually-charged acronym). XSEED's also likely to commission a PC port for the game if they get it.

Ok. Finished City Shrouded in Shadow today. Altogether a really cool, and really weird game with some excellent encounters and a few janky bits thrown in for good? measure. Only issues I really had with the game is one particular chapter where nothing happens, and some of the human encounters (were very standard and not all that exciting compared to the Kaiju encounters). Hopefully Disaster Report 4 gets more polish so it avoids some of the issues City had. Oddly, I didn't really have all that any issues with performance at all (on the Pro with Boost). Only time I felt the performance was really bad was at the end of chapter 2, where the frame rate tanks for some odd reason.

Pre-ordered it earlier this week on Amazon Japan. Apparently it should arrive early next week at my place. Very much looking forward to it! I also can't believe that it's finally coming out.
