GameXplain |OT| “Let’s see what secrets and hidden details the old Analysis Machine has to find!”

GX filled the void of in-depth Nintendo coverage during the 3DS/WiiU era and was my go to place for many years. They still do a great job of that but nowadays I'm more interested in even more in-depth channels (lol) like Game Maker's Toolkit because I find discussions of the underlying game design much more interesting than oh hey look the street names in New Donk City are all Donkey Kong references, neat! I know it's a different thing and that GX has always been about covering Nintendo news first and foremost, so it's more a shift of my tastes than anything really.

Wow I'm listening to the extended version of that discussion theme right now..... it is wondrous.

GX is the best channel on Youtube, hope you guys are planning something big for the big 1 MIL.

I'm a big fan of GameXplain. Their Nintendo coverage is truly unmatched and they're a fun bunch to listen to. It's been awesome seeing them raise to the top since they started.

I like them overall but it can be a bit inane listening to them get hung up on a treebranch of speculation held up by the most tenuous of links that goes on for a couple of minutes. Fun stuff though

For a team of 3 (sometimes 4 or recently 5), they put a remarkable amount of content out. My favorite thing they do are the discussions. They have also formed good relationships with other Youtubers to bring in a variety of perspectives and find the right person for each topic.

Can we appreciate the time Andre made a feature film?

Looking forward to Gamexplain's coverage in 2018. Hopefully we don't just know the whole year's lineup in January like we did for Switch in 2017. As good as the lineup has been, we need to get some surprises and hype throughout the year. The rumor mill kind of just dropped off after March.

But once any official news on Smash Switch comes out, oh man... Those discussions will be fun.

I feel like Andre's and Derrick's souls were both drained with the wii u and nx rumors. Then the switch, and odyssey especially for Andre gave them back.

A solid group of individuals that I occasionally enjoy listening to their discussions and previews-- reviews are generally nice as well (esp. because of the "scoring system" is not a numerical value). Highly recommended.

GameXplain is a top tier gaming channel. First started following them for their Smash Wii U/3DS coverage and have hung around ever since because of their consistent high quality content.

Plus Andre likes Stunt Race FX, which is a truly underrated game.

Love this channel <3
(Also Double Dash is Top tier and Kid Icarus is one of the best games ever)

Disappointing to know it didn't do well enough and he said he's never going to something like this again because it didn't quite justify the amount of work put in.

This is equal parts incredible and adorable.

Cool a GameXplain thread. These guys do really amazing work especially with their analysis videos. Derrick usually does streams every weekend as well (currently Pokémon Emerald Nuzlocke on Saturdays and I believe he has a poll up somewhere for his next Sunday game), though there are no streams this weekend as he's busy with Pokémon UltraSun/Moon and I know that Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has been sent out to some outlets.

They have great Podcasts up on soundcloud as well and Andre/Derrick/Ash if you're reading this, I think it would be great if you could get some more guests on the podcast. I loved the one when you had SomecallmeJohnny on it.

Anyway these guys do amazing work and deserve all the support they get!

Though I do not watch their content on a consistent basis I really enjoy the content I have watched. To me they are the go to for quick Nintendo updates on YouTube. I do like how their preview gameplay of games are quite in depth.

Definitely one of my favorite Youtube channels. I don't watch all of their discussions (as some of them go on a bit long), but I do tune in for almost all the reviews and analyses.

The masters of making an hour of speculation on a minute of footage, the fine toothed comb of youtube gaming.

If I could be bothered I'd take a loving picture of my Stunt Race cart in a haphazard tribute shrine, but I'm lazy.

It's nice to have an OT for GameXplain, the guys are machines putting out so much content in a short time frame. I first stumbled across them with their Discussion on the Majora's Mask 3ds remake, and I think the main reason I subscribed was because I loved the intro music (obviously because I found the discussion great as well). I don't know if it's even debatable that it's the channel to go to for anything Nintendo related.

I can't believe there wasn't a OT in the old land considering how often we would have topics on their videos. Love these guys.

This is a worthwhile OT I think. Big fan of GameXplain's videos. Keep up the good work AndreGX and co.

GameXplain is amazing. They are one of the few Nintendo (mostly) only sites that doesn't attribute to console wars. Plus, they think exactly what they think and are no afraid to say it(even if they are wrong *cough cough Kid Icarus is amazing Andre and you know it cough cough*). They are frank, they are honest, and quite frankly, the only Nintendo site that I watch regularly.

Hey, so, how come Gamexplain isn't a voting juror for the Game Awards when some smaller outlets like What's Good Games, Kinda Funny, and Easy Allies are? No disrespect to any of them, just seemed odd not to see GX listed there too!

I'm hoping Smash 5 is real along with weekly updates for a new weekly Smash discussion.

I know! The Smash hype hit during Grad School when I didn't have as much time to socialize, so it was nice to have those videos to put in the background while I worked/ran errands. I'm glad to see Ash is here, & that we now have Andre, too!

Yeah that fella is usually cheerful but a really bad game can hit a nerve.

The adventure itself was a complete slog, with no charm.
Battle system sucked.
Bowser doesn't even talk!

Anyway I look forward to watch his Radiant Dawn stream, he will probably rage but for different reasons! (And I'll keep recommending him to use Volke and Shinon!) :P

For a while, I followed them, but as they covered games I was very hyped about, I'm afraid they've given me some spoilers ( even on videos where there was no mention of it or even the need to spoil anything) on day 1. I mean end game spoilers on launch day. Spoilers in the spoiler free discussion, in thumbnails....
It was just too much to keep subscribing...

Edit: since at least Andre is following the thread, i feel that I need to express that despite my criticism, I still think it's one of the best gaming channels out there and that I still watch your videos, even if I don't sub anymore. I wished you did more Analysis Machine videos. They're your trademark and are amazing!

It's nice to hear from Chuggaa! But ideal scenario would have been Derrick/Chuggaa both played it and had a discussion. It's sad to hear Derrick has been so busy with Pokemon that he hasn't been able to play Xenoblade. I'm actually a little concerned he won't be able to finish it by review time. I'm half expecting an "in progress" review the day of. Personally I think that would be better than him totally overworking himself, at least.

Love GameXplain. The legendary BoTW analyses videos are what introduced me to the channel, and I haven't stopped watching since. Didn't realize Andre and friends were among our ranks (though I shouldn't be surprised).

I love the fact that we have a thread solely based on GameXplain. I love them, and their work so much. Not sure how long I've been following them now but it's been some years. Recently I was at the Nintendo World Championships and I seen them in person too (however I was totally too shy to say hello, and my sister said it would be weird if I did that anyway). It makes me really happy that they're more Nintendo focused too because I typically have a hard time finding Nintendo focused teams that I enjoy. Thanks for so many great videos, and memories GameXplain! Can't wait for many more.

What they've uncovered or pieced together has really impressed me in the past. I'm always looking forward to their analysis videos on newly revealed games.

There discussions and prediction videos have been great backround noise when im working or doing stuff around the house and are always a fantastic to listen to cant wait for the next direct to see them cover it :)

I've been in a couple of Discussions (Odyssey and Golf Story most recently) but these will be my first stand alone videos

Their Odyssey discussions have been a joy to listen to, they are the best I have heard so far among all the podcasts

I didn't use to actively view their content, only whenever it was posted here, but now I will.

Now that we have an official thread, should we see how much they actually get right in analyses? I'm curious.

Meant to post in here sooner, derp. The GameXplain folks are one of three or so channels I check for reviews/previews/impressions, been that way for quite some time now. Huge fan of the stuff they put out, even if in their reviews I don't always agree with them in the end. Always did wonder why we never had an OT for 'em, but I guess that's fixed now!

Cool to see you on there now too, Jonneh! Look forward to seeing more reviews from you on GX's channel. You still doing reviews on your own channel as well or is that going to GX now?

Whoops sorry for taking so long to reply. I'm working on a few bits for my own channel at the moment but the future is uncertain. Making independent videos is fun but it's a lot to keep up with and they don't exactly do too well. I'd be up for doing more on GX but that's not really up to me.

Is the application I use for podcasts playing up or have gamexplain not done a podcast in a while?
