I went in this thread and realized that it was the same as the nice one with the people ending together after switching seats. So I clicked on the twitter link...

I haven't seen something that creepy and pathetic in a long, long time. Her twitter should be ban and the people stalked should sue her.

Well it might be the anger talking but this couple need to realize that what they are doing is so not right.

I remain angry about this, especially the more Rosey leans into the incredibly performative role of like... tending to the fans of the story who are still super invested in their creeping despite what's happened.

If the Trump election wasn't enough to convince you the internet as it is now was a mistake...

So let's review the outcomes here:

1. The stalker is getting tens of thousands of new followers, her story on national news, and a potential Buzzfeed job

2. The man who was filmed loves the attention, is getting plenty of positivity thrown his way, and is getting invited on talk shows everywhere, being referred to as "Plane Bae" by many.

3. The woman who was filmed was harassed endlessly and had to delete her social media though all of her personal information is still online. She was referred to as a "slut" by many.

Yeah no this isn't cute. It would have been if she just left it at the original tweet with no images but this desperate narcissist had to make a play for fame at the expense of others and even worse, the man is doing the same thing (something this thread should be focusing on more) while the woman he was with has to go dark.

There is a drastic inequality in the outcomes here.

Yeah, thought this was cute at first, but now it seems like a huge attention grab from the couple who did this.

Hopefully her not tweeting for a few days means she knows she fucked up and is finally gunna own up to being a massive creeper who blatantly invaded privacy?
Really? If I'm anything like that being I should start applying for euthanasia.
Holy hell, this is disgusting. People quit social media over these kinds of comments. I hope ERA is as far as you went with it.

Lmao, they published the story like this first: People Think This Story About A Guy Meeting A Girl On A Plane Is The Best Thing Ever https://www.buzzfeed.com/rosebuchanan/catch-flights-and-feelings?utm_term=.kneJZjPa6o

Now they completely changed the angle lmao

Her "apology" would be a little more credible if in the aftermath she didn't effectively sic her followers on this woman. Fuck her.

And now the apology/backtrack:

Not wanting your face plastered across the internet permanently, not wanting to explain a simple flirt to millions of strangers that feel entitled to your life, wanting to be a regular non-famous person, makes her ''not much of an internet fan''? Please.

I feel she is really angry this golden viral chance backfired (no Buzzfeed job!!!) but she can't say it so she is just doing what is expected from her and hating it.

I'm very sorry for doxxing you but damned if I'm gonna take that shit down. It made me famous!

A woman with sexual autonomy is just flat out terrifying to some people, it's a shame.

The guy's "the man/a hunk", but she's a slut because she reciprocated. Man, we're lost out here.

Boy this went places. Last I checked in on this story it seemed like a rather innocuous thing. The fitness trainer woman being harassed off social media is way over the fucking line. Jesus.

Just saw this thread, it's up to 7 pages. Is there a Lionel mandrake type summary?

She "offers her services?" What? And if people didn't know her name (like I didn't), they do now. I do think the initial tweet (or first snap story or however it started), was not meant to be malicious. I do think she was genuinely happy at the potential relationship developing in front of her. But I definitely believe she let the prospect of fame get to her head and push it much further than she would have if she hadn't gained followers throughout the duration of her flight. Maybe she own up to that part. And take down the woman's real name. And maybe send any apologies addressing her directly to her instead of hamming it up on social media.

I've been ignoring this thread but saw it was at 13 pages so decided to click on it and see what it's about.

Holy shit.

People thought this was "cute" or endearing even in the beginning? The original twitter thread sounds fucking deranged.

yeah from the beginning it looked like a massive invasion of privacy. If it had been me I would be massively creeped out and would have avoided social media. And look, that is exactly what the lady did. Except because she's a woman and has to deal with even MORE shit, she also had to delete her fucking account due to weirdos and harassers.

Isn't that just icing on the cake: I read this whole damn thing including the Ella Dawson piece and the Buzzfeed article, but only learned the woman's first name now, by reading this apology. Even now Rosie is continuing to share new things about her.

The end result of all of this will probably be both women getting harrassed off the internet by the same scummy people, and shit sites like BuzzFeed will milk everything for views. The entire story is like a microcosm of all the stupid shit generated by social media and the internet. It's amazing that it had to go this far for a large portion of people to figure out that the original story was creepy and a terrible idea.

I thiiiink she's referring to the fact that woman had to delete her social media accounts and isn't too fond of being on the internet at this time.

If you don't want to remove the agency and autonomy of woman why did you do it in the first place? Re-reading her tweets it's creepy as fuck how she does the whole "She cute" oh "he hot" thing.

Why apologize for anything ever then if you're just gonna pull the "Then why did you do it in the first place card?"

What she did and the way she acted immediately afterwards was dumb as fuck.

But at least she's finally apologizing. Acknowledged it might be too late, and seems to be open to doing whatever she can to help the woman involved and right her wrong.

She could have kept the story short and simple. There was seriously no reason to search for them. Hope the woman doesn't have to hide for long and nothing worse comes out of this.

This has turned out to be quite a thread. What are your thoughts on the situation now?

Y'all have convinced me how creepy this is, especially with how the woman who recorded them has acted afterwards. I'll admit, it seemed cute at first because it seemed harmless, but of course anything that goes viral like this is going to lead to doxxing and shitheads online harrassing people.

I don't get this 'cute at first' argument, because it wasn't. That non stop barrage of tweets was creepy from the go and only got worse as it went on. Unfortunately it got much worse with the doxxing, but the way she shared that was already disturbing on its own. I don't wish for anyone to be the subject of that kind of tweet chain.

The last thing I want to do is to remove agency and autonomy from another woman.

https://www.buzzfeed.com/tanyachen/...-girl-on-plane?utm_term=.amVp0qGJB#.vqMYZOQgw
Blair and Hardaway also said that the woman didn't give consent for her identity or story to be shared. "We don't have the gal's permish yet," Blair said in a selfie video with her boyfriend. "But I'm sure you guys are sneaky."

Fuck off with this apology.
