Deltaplus already released the data that Giftbot is temporarily offline to be upgraded, and the eta is..."a few days", and he says all submissions will be processed when back online, and that repeat submissons are bad.

No amount of condescending put-downs will mask the fact that failing to notify the main giveaway thread with important information about the main giveaway mechanism is pretty poor communication.
I had no idea it was even down... So yeah, completely agree, that is pretty poor on the communication side.
Feel free to express your opinions to actual staff. i.e. @ deltaplus or someone. Responding to me won't get your message through.
Also, providing the information to you from the Official Thread is not condescending, it is helpful. There were also no put-downs in my post. However if you disagree, the report button is -----> the triangle thingie with an exclamation mark in. I answered your questions fully and offered to find more data; I can make a note not to do so in the future should you have more questions that I know the answers to.
While I suspect that the response to your complaint will be that you are free to follow the Official Staff-Made Giftbot Announcement and Information Thread for relevant status updates, incidentally how I knew the information to pass on to you, it is possible that they will make a greater effort to chase down the [2nd biggest] main giveaway thread [I suspect the Steam- er, I mean PC Thread is rather bigger] with various status updates.
Doubling down on the condescending attitude doesn't negate the first and become a positive. It's easy to choose not to be a jerk when talking to people.

It seems this community has need of a spokesperson to discuss its needs with era staff. While not its representative, I am here, so I may as well begin the contact.
I believe it is correct to sum up their community feedback as follows:
They feel you have been insufficient in communication regarding GiftBot statuses. They wish you to come here, to this thread, to announce all GiftBot functionality issues and notify the giveaway community directly, as they believe they are important enough to have you come to them rather than vice versa. This can be seen from the above conversation between users on this page, if you would appreciate more data regarding this request.

Got notified so chiming in here with a status update! We're currently working on implementing anti-abuse functionality to Giftbot and hope to have that done sometime this week. We decided to shut down Giftbot for the time being until we could get that matter sorted. As part of this initiative we also intend to take action against Giftbot abusers.
In general, we use the official Giftbot thread for any updates (see the latest update here) as it's a nice centralized place to post them; we apologize for not previously making it clearer that that's the place to go to keep up to date. We also talked about our plans for Giftbot in the latest newsletter as well. Please feel free to @ me or anyone on the tech team at any time if you have any questions re: Giftbot.

Thank you for bringing the community's concerns to my attention! I admit I'm not quite sure what the quoted part means, but just so that nobody gets confused, tags are never a consideration when it comes to reports.

Someone asked for an update.
weemadarthur told people what he's heard, and asked if that was good enough.
The "asking if that was good enough" could be read as snarky and condescending, but weemadarthur was actually genuine and trying to be helpful.
people were following it around and entering every raffle.
I remember someone made a raffle for the football community and the guy who won it had literally never posted on the thread, he just followed gifbot around.
think it has something to do with that.

Your distant, slightly over-explaining tone comes off as passive-aggressive, and as arrogant the gravitas in which you assume the staff's position/potential response.
The pseudo-staff text colouring and what essentially is a taunt to report you (especially with the later caveat of your untouchability) only add up to this perception.
I can see it not being like that, but my initial impression too was that you're at least not relaxed.
Oh, and one can be both helpful and condescending. Don't disregard a subjective experience like that.

I'm pretty sure they mean people who go to Giftbot's profile, then look at a list of all of its posts and enter every single giveaway that way.

I reported that account, and I believe the mods quickly noted several other accounts/alts that only followed Giftbot around for keys.
On a happy side note the person in question failed to claim the key in timely fashion so I gave it to a regular in that thread. I hope the lurker was trying to sell it and it blew up in their face.
I kind of take this stuff seriously, but I've been on vacation and couldn't update the thread. I honestly agree that following the official giftbot thread and reading the newsletters is best.
Y'all keep giving games though and keep the spirit of the forum up and going. Also free advice, don't assume someone has a malicious intent at first, ie see the post up above calling someone condescending. And if you feel aggrieved start in pms and discuss like adults, I think you'll be amazed how people react when you politely point out that 'hey I feel your post was kind of rough and condescending' instead of assuming a calling it out.
I'll be back with some humble monthly keys once I can creatively figure out a fun way to do it.
I recall there was a user entering for things they didn't have the system to play them on just because he was upset that games for his system weren't being given away at the time.

Add on to it that people were kind of abusing the spirit of the giveaways. I think in that one big giveaway thread some people had won multiple times over and kept entering. Like hey people why not play the shit you won and give others a shot to win.
So hopefully some more controls will be added and people will use them. Modbot had years of tweaking and suggestions so it is only natural for Giftbot to take some time.
An optional cool-down counter or timer for previous winners perhaps.

A cooldown would be perfect, I believe there was one that said if you had won in the last week or so. Also I would like to have a post count for the intended thread, so for instance in my CFB thread giveaway I would have implemented a minimum of 5-10 posts and then no thread lurkers could enter. It would go to the intended audience.
I would also like a way to make some giveaways staff winnable. I know for other reasons that should be avoided, but give me the option to include staff or do a staff only giveaway and let people know. I feel bad because I know we have a lot of good mods and I think it'd be fun to allow them in on a raffle or two. And yes I know I can just send keys to staff, but giveaways show no favoritism.
Cool downs and post counts should be enough to cover a lot of bases a long with Exclude/Include lists where posters can make their own lists, might be a way to allow a mod only giveaway ;-) And I thought those were already in. If I think of something else I will post it or send it along. I am fuzzy on the previous system since I never went back. I am sure the Steam giveaway thread would have a lot of good input too.
Agreed I would think a cooldown of a week is good to start. Possibly even two weeks.
