You guys weren't kidding about Ori and the Blind Forest's soundtrack

I was at work yesterday, when I realized that Youtube wasn't blocked anymore. I decided to put on some music while I was going about my tasks. I remember everyone being very hot for Ori's soundtrack, including one Brad Shoemaker, so I pressed play on it.

Good lord

That soundtrack is beautiful to a degree that is... transcendental. It didn't feel like I was listening to video game music... it felt like it's own thing. I don't know how to describe it. I guess it's similar to Baba Yetu in that way, in that it sounds like it's in a league way above the rest of video game music.

I guess I should buy that soundtrack. I hope it's on Bandcamp.

Music was just another element that made the game great, and that saying something.

The visual, good lord. The gameplay, man, the rush completing the Ginso Tree was quite something. That ending, shed literal tears, not ashamed about it.

What I'm trying to say is, yeah, you should probably get the game, OP.

Alright so I decided I needed to buy this soundtrack. It seems to only be available on iTunes; it's not on Bandcamp or the Google Play Store. Though there is the "definitive edition soundtrack" on Gareth Coker's Bandcamp page. Can someone tell me what's different about the "definitive soundtrack" ? Is it the same soundtrack with some added tracks?

I bought this for my nephew. I don't think he's played it much, and that's too bad. I try to expand my nephews' gaming beyond shooters but they've becoming increasingly reluctant it seems.

It's a totally different album that includes songs added in the definitive version of the game, songs from the original version that didn't make it on the original OST, alternate versions of tracks, etc.

Seconded, the entire game is incredibly enchanting thanks in no small part to this soundtrack. When I think about games I can show to people to explain why there's so much more than they think to them, Ori is up there on my list.

No, it's a different (and slightly shorter) album. The game's true OST is for sale on iTunes and the additional "definitive" OST on his bandcamp is a pay-what-you-want extra.

I see. So is the music sold on iTunes actually "sold" just like it is on the Play Store and Bandcamp? As in, I can download it unlimitedly and stuff. I've never used iTunes.

I'm not positive on all the specifics of DRM on various platforms cause I'm not a big music buff so I don't deal with any of them very much. I know the OST is also on Amazon though if you don't want to deal with iTunes.

Yeah great music to a great game. The music really goes well with the flow of the game. The atmosphere it creates is just amazing. I can't wait for the new game and the soundtrack that will be on it. I recommend playing the game either on Xbox or PC. It is a relaxing, but challenging game at times (not unfair).

Gareth Cooker is one of the few gaming composers, who can do melodies not just typical over-done orchestral bullshit.

And yes he use similar scales and mods as in Trance Uplifting music, maybe that's why I like it so much. It feels natural....
