Why? Right in the article it says this:

It seems like a combo of racism + fear of men being around little kids. He bumped into the girl, mom thought it was because he was trying to go for a grab, she assumed he was bad because he was Hispanic, and proceeded to attack him.

That doesn't justify anything she did and it's not an excuse.

That's the way I perceived it as well.

A lot of people in this thread blaming decades-old racism between the black and latino communities in Los Angeles on Trump. Fucking gross.

I'm an LA native, I've worked all over LA and OC, including several years in Compton. My girlfriend is the child of Salvadoran immigrants in South LA, her house is literally blocks from where this attack occurred. She and her three sisters all, thankfully, got placed into programs due to their excellent grades that allowed them to go to high schools in nicer areas where racial tensions weren't as high, but the high schools in her district are all torn between black and latino students. Violence between them is consistent and always racist.

Again, these sentiments are fucking decades old. Trump is awful, but to lay the blame for these very old, very real issues at his feet is dismissive in a real fucking gross way.

I think a lot of people didn't check the article and so kind of stumbled over themselves when they found out the race of the woman and so they tried hedging their posts to cover for it.

I'm in El sereno. La native. Elderly black people aren't being beaten by Mexicans and being told to go back to africa regularly enough for that to be a symptom of race relations between the two.

There is a historic beef. But it should be noted that there is a trend of anti immigrant attitudes, as well as behavior in this country.

I think it's objectively true that it's open season on immigrants more so than when Obama was in office. Socially at least. I think latinos are seeing their progress revert.

Again, there is definitely a beef between the two, but I don't see how speculating on ehever or not attack on an immigrant #8384949t97 during trumps reign is some how discrediting that beef. No one gives a shit about that beef. It's not like the UN talks on black/Hispanic relations will suffer due to this thread.. that ship has sailed.

Been living here a while. We are clearly outnumbered here.. but it's not exactly the uh... clampits and mccoys? Cant remember that classic family fuede. I have experienced racism from hispanics, for sure. As I've seen my friends be racist toward hispanics.

Either way. If all this guy did was brush up against them.. the response is over the top and should lead to charges. Unfortunate, as It paints the picture that both are viscous animals that just attack eachother. This isn't good for minorities on either side of the isle here. But that's america.

I don't see how it matters, fear mongering at the expense Latinos at the scale Trump and friends have only makes that situation worse.

Blacks are racist towards latinos, and vice versa. Neither have been fond of Asians in that area either. Trump didn't start that. But to claim his rhetoric isn't fanning these fires is to be blind to reality.

Let's face it, people jumped to conclusions reading the headline. Then they started tripping up once they saw the aggressor's skin color.

Maybe she'll understand what it's like to be an immigrant after Child Services takes her child away from her now.

Irony?

Even if the old man did grope the child, the beating was excessive enough to still have the mom and friends charged. Subdue, detain, call the police if a grope occurred.

I am glad the gofundme is successful, though it could have done without "African American lady" in the description.

Never should an American ever think they are above anyone.

Really hope every single one of them realise just how much of a lie they live in.

What a fucked up country

This thread has been fascinating. To the assumptions, to the article itself. Everything.

I hope he recovers well.

Man, how does trump get involved with every problem nowadays. I gues its time for the Thanks Donald memes

I'm no Trump supporter, in fact the idea that anyone could be one just boggles my mind, but still breh, I gotta give the man credit for inventing racism and racist supporters and immigration.

It's stupid that people see stories like these and immediately try to shape them to fit their personal narrative. Hatred comes in all shapes and sizes.

Sheesh! How the fuck is it right to beat up an elderly person? It's sick and inhumane!

I'm glad the GoFundMe was successful and hope the man makes a full recovery. Poor guy, didn't have to go trough that.

And I hope that woman loses custody of her child and is jailed along with the other 4 attackers. Purely a hate crime!

Edit: Well a Mexican TV news program just showed the story and the female witness was practically shown tearing up from what she had to see. Very heartbreaking to see as well.

Whelp at least they found and arrested her. I am at least relieved to find out that she will likely be jailed over this shit.

Hopefully she has someone that will be able to care for her daughter because getting charged for a hate crime is gonna make the sentence even worse. Kid is probably going to be without a mom for a big part of her childhood.

between this and a video i saw of an old asian man screaming to an old hispanic lady "go back to your country" along other racial slurs, it seems even other minorities are drinking from Trumps kool-aid

Sadly there is too much animosity between Mexicans and black people in CA.

My mother and aunt used to work in San Diego (illegally) and basically everyday they would get in a conflict with black people over stuff like their work status, color of skin and nationality. My mother now is really racist against black people to the level she does not want to go back to the USA. It is sad, we have so much to do to understand our struggles.
