For all my games this is the only games that has no day 1 patches at all and it's really weird. I admit I haven't finished the game but played enough without running into problems and obviously Atlus took their sweet time with this one.

any other examples of current/cross-gen console games without patches at all?

In what way is not patching a game arrogant? If a game needs to be patched that implies there was an issue to fix, not needing to patch a game is a good thing.

Patch to remove share restrictions, PS4 Pro etc..

Maybe they patched out all the problems back when it was only out in Japan.

...or not. I don't remember having problems ever with SMT or Persona....

The Japanese version of P5 got (at least) 3 patches, so they probably just included those fixes in the English release version.

Well it needs a PS4 Pro patch, Pro would run it at 4K no problems since it's a PS3 port. But yeah it's a breath of fresh air when a game doesn't need 50 patches post launch.
Also Nier Automata post PC version, the PS4 did get a few patches though but didn't receive anymore after PC.

The only thing to patch would be to get rid of all the stupid streaming limitations and since Atlus will never do that, they'll never make a patch.

Japanese version was patched before the western release. Western release included all the patches up till that point.

I mean, it's extremely polished.

Are we really to the point where no day one patch means arrogance or incomplete game?

Do we know that the Japanese version didn't get any patches either? Since the western version came later, it could've simply incorporated the patches that the Japanese version got.

So a game that has no patches = company is arrogant?

FYI: FFXIII on the PS3 never received a patch. The game wasn't broken.

Assuming you're playing the NA version, there was quite a gap between the game's initial launch and its localized one. I don't know, though. Didn't play the Japanese release, but the game seemed quite polished to me. Then again, there are plenty of well-polished games with plenty of patchwork; MGSV, for instance.

Aside from the english text, the game doesn't have any major issue or bug (or at least I didn't find any during my 100 h playthrough).
It looks like a finished game to me, and as others said here the game was patched in Japan, so during the months between the Japanese and English release Atlus fixed some things we will never see.

They had plenty of time to work out the issues in between the Japan launch and the West launch. So not arrogance just giving us the more polished version. Now what is Atlus arrogance is how much they block screen recording on this game.

It got multiple patches

They were just included in the release of the western version, like many JP games that get localized months to years later.

I mean, I didn't finish the game, but from what I played, it seemed like an actual finished game. I didn't run into any bugs or glitches or anything.

One day we have a thread about too many patches in games, and the next we have not enough patches?

What's arrogant about releasing a finished product that doesn't require further patches? What do you even want patches for? Weird thread.

As I said I played enough of the game and didn't get into any problems. We got indie games that needs multiple patches and big games with fixes after long time of release in my games library that Persona 5 is really a strange one when I don't see any patch + it's a long JRPG. but like others said the JP release got patches but still, it's a polished game.

Also the topic about current and cross-gen because this is where we really started to see the practise in most games + games getting more complex.

Sad that the lack of a patch is being questioned, but given the usual case with these things, it's not surprising.

Played for 300 hours on the PS4. Didn't run into a single bug.

PS4 pro patch would've been good tho.

Tales of berseria never got patched either I think.

I like it when a publisher releases a complete and tested game, i know that it was released in Japan first, but this reminded me of the early days of gaming when games were released 100% bug free (thanks Japan testers :) )

Now regarding the share limitations....... any excuse for that?

I wish they offered 60fps for PS4 Pro, but despite that I'm still satisfied with the product like it is now.

Doesn't Nier on PC needs like 50 patches though? Just because they didn't fix it doesn't mean it doesn't need fixing.

Did the Japanese version get patches? Since it came out several months before...
