Isn't there a final boss for each story? Also the final boss theme (or phase one of it, anyway) is on YT and it's crazy fucking awesome.

Someone finished the game and posted some thoughts on another form. It was in French, so here are the takeaways, and bear in mind I have no idea how accurate it is, but sounds likely:
There's no real overarching plot. It's exactly as advertised: 8 individual stories
-However the individual stories are good and interesting
-During banters characters will in fact reference other story beats for party members like they were there
-At least four optional superbosses
-Optional dungeons
-32+ bosses
-Combat, visuals, OST are at the top tier of JRPGs
-Some people will inevitably be disappointed at the lack of overall epic plot
-The way the stories are presented will take some getting used to by people, no doubt
-There's grind required, but the combat is so good you (probably) won't mind
-Reputation system doesn't have much impact on progression
-Between chapters, sidequests, grinding, exploration, optional bosses/dungeons there's easily over 100 hours of content
-There's no airship or vehicles
-Dont go in expecting a huge, sweeping epic story like FFVI; you won't get it. If you're expecting that you'll be disappointed. But it's a good JRPG.
Again, no idea how accurate anything here is.
It's great, especially when even a dancer character whose story has lot of sexual undertones looks more dignified than a lot of female characters in modern JRPGs. Plus the Yoshida-like style is gorgeous.I really appreciate that all of the female designs aren't pandering garbage.
That reads like a random user doing a made up review after reading this thread. You couldn't write a more apt review in that case.

The number ofYeah sure they can be fake, but it's not just purely existing information.bosses and optional superbosses, the statement about the reputation system, that there's no vehicles and airships new information.
These boss information bits are really not hard to guess (he essentially counts one boss per each characters chapter and put a + to it) by current information and especially that he points out there are no vehicles and airships makes me wary. Nobody ever expected that.
It just sounds like a made-up damage control review with him repeating 5 times that there is no overaching epic plot. But who knows?
Embargo's still in effect though.People that are reviewing it can easily say it's fake if they see this.

Eh, I've been in other review threads and they didn't have a problem with calling something fake, not commenting on it makes me believe it's real anyways.No... they're not here to leak stuff to you. They'll publish their review when the embargo lifts and we can read it then.

Those really don't have anything to do with Octo and it's embargo.Eh, I've been in other review threads and they didn't have a problem with calling something fake, not commenting on it makes me believe it's real anyways.

I wonder when the "final boss theme" on YouTube plays. I had assumed that it was whenever the you completed any one of the main plots, like Legend of Mana.
So there's a song for each story boss and then a song with multiple phases called "Final Battle"...No, the last boss encounter for each storyline has a specific title on the OST.

This makes me think about a final boss for all the characters (The God from Ophilia's story).
Reviews, calling ones fake before an embargo wasn't a problem.Review threads or preview threads?
Also that's not how things work, and that's why you're not supposed to deny or confirm anything until you're allowed to.
It's more speculation than spoiler, because we don't know enough. Is discussing the presence or absence of a final boss considered a spoiler? That has been like 2/3rds of the derails in the thread.
Yes I can watch endings later however that isn't the ending I got. You seriously think after playing the whole Witcher trilogy to answer some question the wrong way and get an awful ending is no big deal? It sours the whole journey knowing where my charecters ended up because I answered a question I didn't know would matter down the line.
That would be like paying money to go to the theater and you having a 1/4 chance to see the good ending. Nobody would want to do that. Or reading a book just to have the final page torn out and a new page inserted.
The developers clearly have an idea of what the intended ending should be and I want my journey to finish how they intended. Watching a YouTube video isn't the same as seeing it play out naturally on screen.
It's more about having previous information about critical things. Lots of JRPG have "points of no return" for side quests , and most of them do a poor job explaining this to the user.
I don't like spoilers, but knowing that a certain game has certain decisions that can prevent me of playing some sections, or important decisions that can ruin my run because the game does a poor job explaining their importance can save me a few hours.
It's not about role playing or optimizing, is more about trying to have the best possible experience, and that's important when playing a long game that I won't be replaying.
I don't get your examples because you can still watch the good ending for games on the same tv monitor you play the game.
I'm confused by the eShop's wording...I was able to play the US eShop's demos in Japanese, however the eShop didn't list Japanese as a supported language for the (whole) game. Can anyone confirm if the US version will allow me to play in JP?
Each character have a different story so 8 different stories, you can recruit all the characters and use any combination you want.Hey people! Despite playing the demo, and reading some impressions, i still didn't get what the game is about.
Is one major story and i can play 8 versions of it?
Or is 8 differents storys that i play with character?
Yep, that's what I was talking about, I don't think saying if something is fake breaks the embargo, but it's fine if you think differently or don't want to risk it.Actually. Now that I think about it. Jason kinda did call out a fake review one time, i believe before the embargo was over.
Remember FFXV? That was a wild thread
But recruiting others will be optional? Each character have a different story so 8 different stories, you can recruit all the characters and use any combination you want.
It is but you will eventually have to get them since battles will get harder, I also don't think you can finish the game without getting all the characters and finishing their stories.

I'm not sure what they meant by that since you can't remove the character you start with.Developers have said it's technically possible to solo the game, though given how challenging combat becomes and the necessity of targeting weaknesses, that seems highly impractical.
Speaking of combat, will be magicians in the game? Like summoners.Developers have said it's technically possible to solo the game, though given how challenging combat becomes and the necessity of targeting weaknesses, that seems highly impractical.
That's the one you finish the game with!I'm not sure what they meant by that since you can't remove the character you start with.
How are you finding it now Jason?I don't know if that review is fake or not. I'm still wrapping up Chapter 3s, too low level for Chapter 4s.
You can find out on Kotaku.com at 9am ET on Thursday! How are you finding it now Jason?
Have any of your opinions on it changed for better or for worse?

(Im totally blacked out with the game, but now im curious)
I guess that could be it but the post in the previous page about there being a final boss made me believe it's only accessible after finishing all the stories.
