As a call center operator, I've been exposed to many people's names over the course of 6 months, ranging from perfectly normal, common names to outright bizarre shit, like someone with Poop (direct translation from Portuguese) for their last name.

Some common names you don't even process their meaning until you actually start thinking about them and then you realize there are tons of people named after trees, animals and other things from nature.

Then there are people with truly great names, like the famous Batman Bin Suparman

I had a school mate whose last name was Excellent and he lived up to his namesake. The last names "Good-Death" and "Good-Life" are also fairly common over here.

My friend used to teach English for a living and he once taught a student named Ping Pong Pang

I remember him saying "you know that joke about how we [Chinese people] name our kids, throwing our pots and pans down the stairs? I never thought that would actually be true."

I've come across a lot of people whose last names (originally heard in french) translate to stuff like "Honored", "Desired", "Well-loved" and stuff like that. Always found that pretty funny and really cool.

Worst job I ever had, the only bright spot was somebody who worked in another department named Anita Miracle. Whenever she got paged, I could hear the person on the PA do the vocal version of a double-take, like "Wait, am I being pranked?"

I worked at a telemarketing place right out of high school and one of the names we called was Carstairs Jackson. That became a running joke with us for a while.

Dick Monster. Yeah he's real. Quite proud of his name. He could have gone with Richard Münster but he prefers this.

I've come across a Pornsak at one of my jobs. There's a lot of Thai names with 'porn' in them.

Knew a Goodenough, a Swallows. Butts are pretty common. I've come across someone who's surname was Human.

I'd like to meet Staff Sergeant Max Fightmaster. Think there's around 500 Fightmasters in the US.

edit: Coming to think of it, I've come across a lot of names that people would consider odd.

I saw a girl in the school yearbook called Rapeporn. I think her parents were Thai.

As a correctional officer I've seen my fair share of weird names. Lots of inmates with famous names such as John Lennon and Paul McCartney. My favorite weird name was Wilkslanderson, but there was one guy whose name sounded a lot like "vagina", and another whose family name sounded just like the Brazilian Portuguese word for "blowjob".

That reminds me that my 7th grade geography teacher was named Mrs. Butts. Not a good last name to have when teaching 13-year-olds, unfortunately.

Butt/Butts is actually an Anglo-Norman name iirc and there's also South Asians that anglicise their surnames to Butt from Bhat/Bhatt from what I've come across leading to loads of Butts in general and yeah not a ideal if you're in education.

Marmaduke Bayne. I was researching something for work and seeing the name made me stop for ten seconds.

When I was working for the Mayor's youth council I was in charge of keeping the time for people giving testimony so I got to see the list of people speaking before most people. There were a lot of funny names on those list but the one that always stuck with me was La-a (read as La dash a).

We had a local doctor called "Mustapha P. Pronto". Someone must have told him because he dropped the "P" from his sign.

I also saw a show about South Africa, and some poor sod had the first name "Loveless". Who would call someone that? Just call him "Lonely", or "Billy No-Mates".

Not funny, but I used to work with someone named Talon Fleischacker, which is a name that sounds like it's ripped straight from a low rent sword & sorcery fantasy novel.

What would that be?

Are you Brazilian? As I understand, Brazilian law doesn't or didn't use to have too much restraint on what names you can give to your kids, so it's grounds for very bizarre and funny names.
Borkett. Other inmates would call him "boquete" and he'd be pretty salty about it.

Yeah, as far as I can tell, our laws will let you name your children however you see fit, and some parents get veeeery creative. This page might amuse you for a while.

A guy I knew who got a full head of grey hair in his early 20s was called Guy Whitehead. Always made me laugh.

I used to work in reservations in a hotel and I would often question the legitimacy of some names. I saw many Theresa Greens. The most unfortunate one I ever saw that I can recall was Fanny Fisher.

I have two young children, and I'm shocked at how judgmental I am when I hear other children's names. I just want to be like "You realise that child has to live his whole life with that?"

Gary Swallows was running for some state office when I was about 21. Who is Gary Swallows? A man with a funny name.

I used to work with a Pilipino man named Bong.

I have a current coworker whose last name is Culos.

I've seen bilboards advertising the law firm of Brian Alcock.

Saw an ad for Gordan Ramsey's new show and the last name for people running the horrible restaurant in the episode is Nimrod.
