It's all just for the memes until one day they've been doing long enough to where it's not just the memes anymore. It's super depressing.

Kids just want to be edgy. Some are stupid enough to express this by going full maga.

All you can do is educate them until they're properly ashamed, and edgy about something else instead.

I live in Kentucky and I've never seen a MAGA hat in the wild. Contrary to what the internet would have you believe, I think many Trump supporters are less than proud of the guy, but just want what he seemingly promises for them personally.

Isn't that how the whole edgelord gamergaters blew up into part of the alt right movement? It's all fun, video games, memes and edginess until one becomes full on racist/misogynist.

Trump is just a meme to these kids, like Leeroy Jenkins and the O RLY owl were for us. They think it's funny because internet teenagers use Trump for easy jokes, and it makes adults pissed off. Only the world has finally caught up to doing what only internet teenagers were doing in the early 2000s, and people have started to think these things are a genuine way to live your life.

They probably aren't very bright, much like the adults who wear maga hats. Plenty of other ways to be rebellious without supporting a bigoted fascist like Trump, And they are too stupid to understand they aren't being rebellious at all they are literally supporting the establishment.

People who think they're just acting edgy for the lulz, but don't understand that actors stop acting and go home at the end of the day. If your act doesn't have an 'off' switch, it's not an act.

Because their parents wear them. As a kid, you like whoever your parents like politically, you don't watch news. They listen to whatever their parents choose to tell them.

That's a weird thing to state as a definitive truth. Equally possible is that they're contrarian asses trying to do the exact opposite of their parents. Many teens live for pissing on whatever their parents like or believe.

I have no idea where you are from but in the US it is a sign of support for a white nationalist administration that abducts children, places them in internment camps, and makes toddlers represent themselves in court.
It's seen that way by one portion of the nation, the other side does not see it that way or even cares.

The problem remains you can't shame these people into not wearing it because they think the otherside that is making those accusations are over reacting. New strategy must be used I don't know what it is, but it's not throwing drinks in the face of some lunatics kids that's for sure.

I saw a kid wearing a maga hat in a Wendy's like a month ago. Kid was probably 15. He has no idea what life is really about yet.

Poor idiot.

It is not currently viewed that way by the people who support Trump. Of course they're all for it, they're drinking the koolaid. They're also morons who voted for a man that wants to dismantle their healthcare and will fuck up their states' economies over his dumbass tradewar. So I don't particularly care how a group of people who lack critical thinking skills, to the point of self detriment, view that hat as. History is not going to be kind to all of this bullshit. It's already a favorite article of clothing at neonazi rallies.

They're dumb middle school kids who like memes. That's about it.
Boom.

The state of the country has little effect on them. They're having fun and are unaware of the effect Trump's presidency has had on others.
EDIT: And if they are aware, they don't care 'cause as I said, it doesn't affect them.

True. But ignorance (especially in the case of kids, less so of adults) is not the same as intolerance.
Dude what. Ignorance is a cornerstone for racism and intolerance. Do you think racists know what they're talking about? How long do you coddle racists as just being "ignorant" as opposed to just being racists for their ignorant views?

There's a big difference in adult and child ignorance. Also in their juridical status and mental development. A child could grow to be a sane person even if their racist dad put a MAGA cap on their head. Or they might grow up to be a racist. Saying only one outcome is possible is false.

You gotta think about it yo.

The current counter culture is that it's cool to be racists/edgelord. YouTube pumps the fuck out of shitty videos to these kids. There fav tubers are preaching a bunch of garbage to them. Twitch boys and Incels are able to connect with them as well. If they are part of Republican familes then they already are indoctrinated wholesale.

The culture war was lost soon as Clown took office. Now his decency and bigotry is protected behind "support or respect" for the Presidency.

It's a load of bullshit but that's how their selling it.

Kanye didn't help because his dumbass got used as a tool to fight against racism claims.

It's cool to be racist, it's cool to be a Nazi.

When we were younger, the wave was Emo/Goth

Edit: Major factor here, this is primarily for young white boys. Maybe a few white passing Latinos. But def mainly young white boys.

As adults we need to call them out on their behavior. It doesn't matter if they know the cultural and historical significance behind the swastika they carve on the playground equipment. They think they can get away with being shitty little kids, because they're kids. Sometimes all it takes is an adult saying "Kid, what the fuck do you think you're doing?" And not letting them weasel their way out of their behavior.

Most of these kids can't even imagin what kind of suffering people like Trump can bring to the world. They feel everything is cool & funny because they and people they care about have not been affected by these policies......yet. They live in blissful ignorance. Some people can learn with time by reading, by listening to people around them... Others will only learn by experience.

Ok well I'm just trying to point out to you, a lot of people are not in tune with the same things you're, their biggest concern on a Sunday is making sure there is propane for the BBQ. Obamacare was not univerasally loved and hit people in their pockets so it's no surprise they voted for someone that campaigned on getting rid of it. They probably don't care about you either, but that's not exactly abnormal, people tend to only care about the ones they know. Everything and everybody else is not on their radar. That's not even getting into racists liberals. Someone can hate Trump, vote Democrat, March in the woman's march and still hate minorities, trust me I live on a island overflowing with them.

End of the day employment should be determined by skill level not political affiliation. They marched in Charlottesville? Don't hire them and call the police for good measure, but if their only crime is being a registered republican then don't forget this very same mind state could be used against you somewhere down the line. It's not a road to go down.

What in the actual fuck does that have to do with this thread? What do racist liberals have to do with this thread?

Same reason why some young guys and girls wear Nirvana smiley face shirts. It's cool, and they don't really know anything about the material.

EDIT: though in this case it may be a rebel situation.

They're just kids. Wait, they don't know any better. Well, boys will be boys. So many nice excuses that will protect them well into adulthood.

Just from my experience, I too fell into that as a kid. I believed whatever my parents and uncles told me politically. I never met a kid come election time, that didn't want who their parents wanted. We did mock elections during Obama vs. McCain / Obama vs. Romney in school.

My aunt took my 14 year old cousin to a Trump Ralley. It's awful, my uncle is in the Secret Service and gets them front row tickets all the time....of course my cousin wanted Trump because of her parents.

I would bet a lot of money on the kids that wear MAGA hats, their parents are the ones that influenced them.

It will be even weirder when you know the person that is asking you has family that supported Trump but is pretending they didn't.
To be fair, if they were born after the 2016 election, they will 90% be indoctrinated by family. If Trump gets re-elected, the "Trump Generation" will be in middle school by 2024. I was more talking about people post-Trump that read about this ridiculous time from the past and ask about it.

Like, it was only last year that I truly realized that my mom and dad had lived in SF during the Zodiak murders. That was an odd but eye-opening conversation.

Just a new way for nazis and other skinhead fucks to reach out and corrupt the youth. Now they can point to the President and say he's just like them.

Remember when you were in 7th grade and you thought it was cool to say edgy shit and get people all worked up?

It's that but the edgy shit is pretending to support a megalomaniac with the power to destroy the planet.
