No seriously what happened? I remember when this game was announced and thinking "Wow there goes my life again." because Animal Crossing is a hole that is hard to escape from. But then I downloaded the app and only played for a day. I was hooked on Miitomo for longer. From what I've been reading around it seemed like I wasn't the only one. I've heard nothing but mixed (at best) reception for this game and the last thing I've heard about it was that they were adding Fortune Cookies, i.e. lootboxes months ago. Nintendo's social media doesn't promote the game, the top search hits from Youtube are from around the game's launch and I hear no one in my circle, mostly composed of Animal Crossing fans, talking about it, especially since there's supposed to be special events and holidays like the console games that would be easy to make a trailer for or twitter post or something something. Fire Emblem heroes has been out for over a year, a game from a far less lucrative franchise and yet Nintendo promotes the crap out of that game while there's been nothing about Pocket Camp forever.

Am I crazy? Are there still people playing it? Are you playing it? What is going on?

I played it heavily for about 2 weeks, but then I was super content with my Camp members and my set up. I felt like I beat the game at that point. Never felt the need to "collect em all"

The game to me will always just be a "we know you want more AC, here is something to tide you guys over" and I guess it's dying out because people have waited long enough since New Leaf for the Switch AC, not to mention New Leaf is just better in general :s

I think the timing was not right. I think it would've really taken off as a companion to a new game. But they announced Pocket Camp and nothing else. I think people are ready for a full fledged game on Switch now

I'm very disappointed we haven't heard anything about a new Animal Crossing. It's been almost 6 years when they were on a 4 year turnaround pretty much every entry before

I still play it but it is a far cry from what makes Animal Crossing great. The events are the most blatant cash grabs I have ever seen from any of Nintendo's mobile games and it just takes so long to visit each location to fulfill all of the animal requests. The game also likes to waste time. It says someone wants to talk to me so I see them and they say something completely irrelevant so I have to talk to them again to find out what they wanted.

Pocket Camp does do some nice things I hope carry over to AC Switch. I want amenities, improved villager interaction with objects and tools that do not count against our inventory in the next AC game.

My mom, who doesn't play games, started playing it shortly after it came out because she used to like watching me play AC on gamecube back in the day. She is still playing it lol, FWIW.

Maybe ResetERA isn't the core demographic?

It still makes money and gets updates. But I haven't touched it in a long while either.

I played it for a little bit, but then I realized there wasn't much of a game there and the gameplay loop got repetitive really fast.

I still play it a lot. And I have a very big circle of people who play it a lot every day, all the time.

I love it, it's perfect for mobile. I don't mind the loops or anything ... it's great even while I drive in very high traffic from my job.

Just reached level 90

The only thing I don't like is that all the animals say the same things randomly. I wish each one had their own personality.

People wanted an actual animal crossing game on their phone. That isn't what they got, and what they did get wasn't particularly compelling. In my personal opinion it's their worst/least engaging mobile title yet.

Yeah totally, everyone I know that downloaded it spent maybe a day with it tops and then wanted the 'real deal' and either bought New Leaf or started emulating the GCN one. If there had been a Switch game at or around that time it would've been perfect.

Gave up after the 5th gardening event, those were too grindy and could eat too much time to complete.
Otherwise it was fun until then.

Gardening events can go to hell, seriously.

Edit : and I see my favorite villager Rolf still isn't it, glad I quited the game 2 months ago.

I play it every day and have since it launched. I just use it to pass the time a few times a day and jut strategize about what I want to do next. For instance, have been working on the garden such that I can trade for every piece of flower furniture that you can get out of there. On the last set for tulips and have a couple of colors of pansies to get through. Also been working on getting everyone to 20 (and now 25). Have every amenity at max. I've not spent any money and it's basically just a few times a day habit for me.

I think I'm level 102 now.

The loop they have just isn't very fun for me and not what I was expecting out of the game. I gave it time to grow, but eventually had to drop it.

No, the game still have updates every wekk (I see it on twitter all the time lol) and it's the second title with more revenue from Nintendo in mobile. FEH is still their success by a huge mile but Pocket Camp does some numbers as well.

Yes, because before that they worked on consoles in sub-HD. That without count that two Splatoon were released.

I think many were hoping Animal Crossing Switch would release shortly or at least a year or so from Pocket Camp.

There are still people playing it. For me I stopped after about a week or two.

I would think the game would get a second wind if somehow the Switch and Pocket Camp interact somehow with each other like what Pokemon Let's Go and Go will do. Something as simple as special items being able to cross over or something like that would be enough imo.

It has the superficial feel of AC, but it isn't really AC. And the social aspect is very restricted. I'm not sure what their objective was with the game, but I put it down after a couple weeks.

The game on Google Store is still not available in my region, though I can download the VPK online and play it easily, but I just want the official release from my regional Google store so it's easy to receive and install updates anytime.

I was never really interested in it. My sister is now only able to play mobile games due to a disability, and she's been having a lot of fun with it while continuing to play it daily since its release, so I'm glad it exists. The constant updates they make to it also make it pretty easy to come back to for her. I'm thankful Nintendo seems committed to making most of their games playable in portrait mode.

I don't think so, it's their second highest grossing app so far only below Fire Emblem Heroes and above Super Mario Run. I use it every day but I mostly use it to learn French. The game is not a full animal crossing but it scratches the itch.

It does enough to be different from the main games, has plenty of updates, the loot boxes are just for furniture basically so not a big deal. The game gives you enough to be able to do everything for free, the game has changed a lot since launch so it's a different game in a way. It's fun to befriend all those Animal Crossing villagers and have fun in your camp.

Yup.

Came across as a mobile stop-gap to me. I'll just wait for Switch AC proper.

As someone who loves Animal Crossing, the gameplay loop just isn't enjoyable. Doesn't help that all of my friends stopped playing in a week or two.

At the very least it got me to start playing the Game cube version and New Leaf again, so that's something I suppose.

My sister loves it and plays it almost every day. I don't know how much money it makes, but I think it definitely hit its target demographic, which just happens to be very different than ERA's community.

Basically, there's no reason to pay for anything unless you're crazy/stupid enough to want to 100% everything. I stopped playing when they added Gulliver and the lootbox cookies, at which point it became impossible to keep up with the pace things were being sold at

While they are continuing to add things, I suspect that it will end in October, making a year of support, and the rest of the team at ND Cube will be moved onto more important projects

I'll admit that I play it. I honestly don't know why. Just trying to be a completionist but they keep making fucking updates as soon as I am about to have everything officially done.

Plz help.

The game is not dying, it surpassed 25 million net revenue since its debut. It's the most successful Nintendo mobile game after FE Heroes and ranked above Super Mario Run. Just because you don't play it doesn't mean the game died.

According to Sensie Tower it has grossed less than half of what Mario Run did, which didn't continue to have a presence on revenue charts after its launch since it didn't have any microtransactions.

It will never be complete.

Still enjoying New Leaf myself.

That same link (to the article not the thread) tells us:
"Last month, Super Mario Run ranked third in terms of revenue for Nintendo mobile games worldwide, after Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and Fire Emblem Heroes."

Which is what I mentioned. SMR came out on iphone on December 2016 and 77% of the revenue has been from iOS devices. So yeah, Pocket camp is going to outgross SMR sooner rather than later. So again, not a bomb.

It was originally supposed to be a companion to New Leaf and heavily integrated with it as part of the Welcome amiibo update released a couple years back, but that got ditched when it was delayed. So it is in a weird spot right now. Some kind of integration will probably come back when a Switch game happens and give it a greater purpose.

The OK Motors characters' items in Pocket Camp are present in the New Leaf update's files (the update released a full year before Pocket Camp) just as an example of this. It seems the plan was to allow you to transfer MEOW Coupons between Pocket Camp and New Leaf.

It did pretty poorly, got a ton of downloads, but never actually made much money. It fell off the charts very quickly after launch.

That's interesting, I didn't know this, all the info I ever read was that it'd be compatible with the next AC title which is why I was excited since Pocket Camp meant we were getting a new AC soon.
