Note: I've only played through a few missions on the bonus Nightmare story mode and finished the main story.

So I haven't played a Call of Duty since CoD4 and stopped paying attention to the stories after Black Ops 1. It's astounding to me how good that shooting feels. The multiplayer is also just -chef finger kiss- muah.

However what the fuck happened with that story? The pacing was all fucked up, my care for any of those characters was at an all time low, the main male character may as well have been named Jack Gunman with as much effort as the VA put into it. They gave a dumb justification to actually add the zombies into the main story and everything. They introduced the main baddie of the game so late that it barely mattered. They introduce major new characters so late in the story that it's ridiculous. They try (at least in my view) to make the supporting woman (Kane) into a romantic thing so that you feel literally anything when she dies literally in the same mission

Taylor ripped out his DNI but still shows up in the Frozen Forest after getting shot in the fuckin face 10 times? The Frozen Forest is some kind of purgatory? I purged the DNI from my brain in real life but somehow I'm Taylor because he was the last to interact with Corvis? Why did they name Corvis so late in the game? What the fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkk

What the hell happened?

Coolest part was when evil CEO guy was explaining to Corvis that he was a mistake of programming. Dude got all of his limbs ripped off by trees. That was awesome and a great moment for Corvis but it's a shame because that happened in the final goddamn mission.

I'm one of those people who love when things fly off the rails. Lost for example is an amazing show in the alter seasons when they start time traveling and shit. I love how completely insane Blops 3 got. Shame to see that they canceled the campaign for 4 after hearing it was too bizarre.

Oh not to mention that they throw those little screen glitches with the ravens on to remind you that Corvis is still fucking with you in the back half of the game but don't do literally anything with it.

Train go boom.

It gets stupider, however. The player character actually dies in the hospital after having the DNI installed. During the rest of the game you're actually playing from the perspective of the rogue AI using the memories and emotions of everyone it's interfaced with to come to terms with its own newfound sentience.

More importantly, what's his face takes ONE bite of a candy bar, aggressively tells you how good it tastes, and throws it out of a fucking helicopter.

True that. Infinite Warfare has one of the best COD campaigns/stories since Modern Warfare (minus Kit Harrington's boring, absent villain.)

This. So sad to see black Ops4 have really solid multiplayer, and infinite warfare having great campaign that should have been put together. Add a better villain to infinite warfare would make it better

Only halfway through Black Ops 3, cant wait to see how it flies off the rails.

Wait you only played the Zombie story campaign extra thing(not zombies)? I actually really liked that just cause it involves zombies. Anyways this is why its ok for Treyarch to focus on MP its what they are really good at.

I played this with a friend (that's why why we could finish it) and it was the most bizarre experience we had in our coop history. We couldn't believe it. Incredible.

Also is it just me or did it feel like they really really wanted the "You are now letting your mind go somewhere safe. You find yourself in a frozen forest..." to be a much bigger thing than it turned out to be.

You know, listening to the banter and recordings of the MP specialists, why the hell was the campaign not based around THEM? Would loved to have seen how that would've played out

I played multiplayer for a while before I started the campaign. I was super shocked and puzzled when I realized the specialists had absolutely nothing to do with the campaign.
