When it comes to strangers, I like seeing it, but don't care. When it comes to me, I do my best and don't try too hard.

If its a male friend, I will definitely advice them on something that will make them look better.

I wear what I think looks good on me, regardless of what is currently in-style. If you rock it with confidence, people will recognize that.

Same here. And the big revelation for me was the above. It makes a huge difference for fitting versus even being a little oversized.

I am very much into fashion for a passion project, but I personally dress like an embarassment to it. I try, but could use more guidance. I can style other people. Just not myself.

I get hit on more when I feel and look like shit when I'm out (like running to get flu meds ffs) so I'm all kinds of lost tbh.

I'm a sucker for solid clean streetwear, minimalist women's fashion, and weird ass brands like Lazy Oaf.

i don't care what other people wear but i cannot guarantee i wont groan loudly around you if i catch you in cargo pants/shorts tho

I do care about fashion, but I don't have the money to maintain any kind of seasonal in fashion style. Luckily traditional men's fashion is fairly boring and doesn't change much from year to year so I'm able to remain conservatively fashionable without breaking the bank. Also good streetwear will never be so outside the mainstream as to be unfashionable I think.

To your other question, yes I do judge others if they appear to not care about the clothes they wear.

Not at all. When I'm not at work/weddings/funerals I wear band shirts and jeans or shorts at all times.

Comfort >>>>>>>> Fashion.

I care but I'm too poor, can't afford the good stuff yet. Working on it tho. And I lost 30kg, so I can wear what I want now.

I don't have the money for real fashion, but my god I do care for style, some times the two get mixed, but yeah I tried to look different and nice.

Yes, though I'm not much for trends, I wear what -I- like, no matter how unusually some people may think it

I Don't care much for mens fashion, but don't wanna go ultra femme with women's clothing eitger

My girlfriend has helped me be more confident about my body and what I wear, so I've gone from wearing kind of shitty jeans/pants to having pants that actually fit me nicely, and shit like cargo shorts to slim/fitted shorter-shorts that show off my legs and butt :]

I always wear t-shirts or tank tops though and I'm not too picky about them, as long as they're not ratty looking or oversized. I think 95% of the shirts I own are concert or festival shirts lol

I am extremely obese so I wear baggy shit and try to stay comfy. Maybe when I get some of the weight off I can try to dress nicer.

I've always had an interest in men's fashion but being a big 6'1" guy with broad shoulders has limited my choices to say the least. I'm dropping weight and working out now but am in that weird period where I don't want to buy new clothes But my current clothes are too big and look like crap on me

To an extent. I put effort into looking like I put in no effort and sometimes dress like a wannabe hipster, but I don't really follow trends. I wear the occasional band shirt. Honestly the only fashion choices I have confidence in are shoes. I do all of this so women can hit on me; it never works.

I judge cargo shorts and shit graphic tees.

Hell yeah, fashion is great.
I love following fashion IG accounts (mainly Japanese ones), often check WEAR, read Men's Non-No... to get inspiration. Just looking at people's cool outfits makes me happy, even if it's something I could never pull off.

I can't afford expensive shit but I try to keep up with trends in some way (honestly you can easily find cheaper versions of the hot items), or get out of my comfort zone. At the end of the day if I think something looks good I'll wear it. I do my best to change my overall "vibe" like every 6 months. Feels great to find a new shell you can pull off.

I'm pretty jealous of women's fashion, waaaaaaaay more variety.

Not at all, but I do wish I could afford custom tailored suits because they look so much better. Well if I ever decide to go back to my previous profession I might have to look into that anyway lol.

Street fashion yes. Suits and leather shoes, and other "adult" stuff is just fucking boring.

i like looking good when i want to. when i want to look good, i want to do it right. don't understand the people who always go everywhere in oversize dad jeans, cargos, video game/anime/hentai hoodies, graphic tees that were popular in high school... shit that doesn't wear or fit well or is old and tattered... like wtf, you're an adult. take care of yourself, and take pride in your looks.

Street fashion yes. Suits and leather shoes, and other "adult" stuff is just fucking boring.

you mean like how kanye and ASAP rocky dress? i think they look great, but when people who aren't famous try to pull it off, they end up looking tacky and try-hard in my opinion. like oh look at me i'm a hypebeast sneakerhead check out this bright red set of pants and give me the attention i'm whoring for. but maybe i just misunderstand.

i've grown a recent affection for patterned and solid button downs, dress shoes, slim jeans, fitted khakis and chinos, and interesting but not too flashy sneakers.

I just buy what I like, how much what is in style or I'm being told is fashionable plays into my preferences subconsciously is hard for me to estimate.

I won't judge people based on their stylishness (except in a complimentary manner) but will judge them based on if something is ugly. I passed someone wearing those $700 balenciaga sock shoes this last weekend and jesus christ those are ugly.

I really like giving this type of simple advice to my male friends too. I already helped some people and they started following it for real and thanking the tips afterward. I rather helping them to get in touch with this often repressed side than bothering my female friends who already receive this kind of pressure in the media every day. I like makeover shows too, my favorite being the new Queer Eye.

I used to be way more into fashion but now due to lifestyle changes I'm pretty much into a very simple and casual style, lots of jeans and solid colors (specially black). One funny thing is that I used to wear a lot of very romantic and frilly stuff and now I switched to t-shirts and button-ups I feel way it highlights my femininity way more.

In general, I'm very interested in the fashion concepts more than applying into my life, and I'm not too crazy about trends or brands. Often ''looking good'' also requires an erasing of personality I don't agree with (like when they make every guy use a ''Hitler Youth'' haircut or every woman should wear highlights).

I like to see Harajuku street fashion and also historic fashion. Sometimes I find something I apply into my own life though, like David Kibbe's 13 Body Types theory and best color palettes to different skin tones and undertones.

I know what I like, and I know what looks good on me. "Fitted" dress shirts, relaxed fit jeans/slacks, nice polo shirts; that kind of thing.

Fashion trends can be wrong. Fanny packs and skinny jeans...were wrong.

Given the load of threads recently about fashion, do you care about it?

When buying clothes or choosing an outfit do you ask yourself if this is still fashionable or do you wear whatever?

To each his own but personally I just put on whatever and no one around me gives me any shit for my clothes.

EDIT:

Follow up question: To those that do, do you think less of others who wear clothes that aren't fashionable or in style at the time?

Hey OP. Yes I do care about fashion. It's my #1 favorite hobby.

I only care about what's fashionable to me. So this tends to really be about form fitting threads. I'm also big into color coordination, & some appreciation for shapes/stripes. If I could model part time for $$$ I would.

I actually don't hold not being fashionable against anyone. If I see friends or mutuals well dressed I give them kudos.

But for the most part I know it's not a priority for everyone and I don't judge people for that.

I wear whatever I want. Usually jeans and a tshirt. Even then they are cheap off the rack from a Target or something. I have a couple of suits for interviews and other formal events. Nothing fancy or expensive. I have better things to spend my money on and other things to worry about than fashion and what others think of my fashion choices.

As for what other wear, to each their own. You do you. I'll do me.

Let's see...I moderate a fashion-focused chatroom and am managing @theFFCollective project, of which we have released Vol. 1 and are currently working on Vol. 2 of a fashion-themed artist and photographer lookbook collaboration. So yes, I'm into fashion.

That is fair.

At most I make sure my clothes are slim fitting and "match" more or less.

I hardly notice what everyone else has on and I don't judge them for it because I don't know their circumstances. I just made this thread because I started noticing a thread IRL of acquaintances looking down on strangers for their outfits.

I only care to the extent that I want to be comfortable, but also not look like a slob. I hate spending money on clothes, so I don't do it very often.

No, I don't.

I just make sure I have a understated and clean style.

I just wear solid color shirts with a pair of khaki pants, dark brown pants or gray pants. Same with shorts.

Just keep it simple.

No, as I get older fashion and style isn't as important to me.

All I know is when I'm single the women like muscles and a decent personality. I'll continue to focus on that and let the fashion/style trends come and go and leave it to y'all to care about it

Following fashion trends is never a good thing. I mean, do it for fun, or if you're part of the industry and you need to etc... but in terms of what you enjoy to wear you shouldn't let others dictate that.

Understanding what works for you/what you're comfy in is what you should be doing.

I think the biggest thing to worry about first is if your clothes fit. Next style, then fashion.

People who try to be fashionable without clothes that fit are strange.

I don't normally, but when I see someone really well dressed I can't but help think "damn, that person is looking sharp!" For example, last one I can think of is Darnell L. Moore on the Daily Show (June 28).

There's so many better things to buy with our hard earned money than overpriced clothes. I try to look clean for my job and classy for some special occasions, but other than that its nerdy and band shirts and simple jeans or shorts.

90% of the time I'm wearing a plain tshirt and jeans so no I don't really care. I hate shopping for clothes and avoid it as much as possible and try to spend as little as possible. Comfort is the most important thing.

No. I actually hate most trends. Seeing all of the skinny jeans around makes me glad I don't partake in trends.

Married, just had my first child, full time job...I don't have time to worry about what random dude #34 at the local Wal Mart thinks about what I'm wearing. I barely have time to worry about what I'm wearing. Some jeans or khakis that fit with a polo and off I go to get done what I need to get done.

I have some nice suits if the occasion calls for it, like a job interview or whatever else. Also have some nice button downs in case the situation calls for it. Other than that, you might see me out and about in some plaid shorts with an Avengers shirt on.

It feels nice to wear new clothes, but it's also expensive to wear brands, so I go for H&M and Primark when I can.

I try to go for stuff that not everybody wears but still looks nice.
