As a dutch i like this but i never liked Rutte or his party at all, there the worst of the worst.

Anyway here is an exchange other leaders could learn from..just say fucking no for once.

Trump: We are very close to making some very good trade deals. Fair trade deals — I didn't want to say "good," I want to say "fair." Fair trade deals for our taxpayers and for our workers and our farmers. And a lot of good things are happening. I think the E.U., we're going to be meeting with them fairly soon, and we want to see if they can work something out. And that will be good. And if we do work it out, that'll be positive, and if we don't work it out, that'll be positive also. Because -

Rutte: No.

Trump: We're just thinking about those cars that pour in here.

Rutte: It's not positive.

Trump: And we'll do something, right?

Rutte: We have to work something out.

Trump: It'll be … it'll be positive.

He talks such utter shit.

Bridges are burned, what's the point, good for him. Ride out this possible two years and see what happens later.

I'm glad to see someone cut him off too. There's no point in letting him waste time spouting bullshit.

Sucks that OP states Ruttes politics suck, because I quite liked this response to Trumps stupidity on display

Reading his transcripts is so irritating because of how circular and redundant they always are. The same words, always, to say the same nothing.

I'm surprised any world leaders can deal with him without slapping him.

My dad's side is French Dutch. It explains a little.

EDIT: I always assumed that my asshole side came from the french side but who knew it was from the 'wegians.

Now to figure out where my sense of humor came from.

It would have been great if Rutte asked Trump about the reality of ICE liberating those US towns from MS-13. It would have been sweet after that US ambassador appointed by Trump to the Netherlands embarrassed himself over denying making spurious claims of no go zones and burned politicians in the Netherlands and was publicly proven a liar. Rutte could have added a quip like "You're both educated by the same sources and as honest."

It isn't just politics it is even worse than that, as a dutch you have no idea on what he is doing with his party here in the netherlands..not making it any better for everyone.

And yet people do vote for him because he is a nice guy..that's it really.

Let me guess you're a PVV or FVD voter.

Just to make it absolutely clear, the horribleness of his policies are on a completely different scale from Trump. There is certainly some corporate shilling going on but even as a dutch liberal right politician he would be labled socialist in the US.

Maybe he's referring to the fact that France and The Netherlands are, like, really close geographically. Belgium itself is a mix of French and Dutch cultures.
I'd know, being Belgian myself :p

Unless that part of his family is like part of a dying breed or whatever, I just don't think there exists a "French Dutch" part of The Netherlands to be from, just like there isn't really a "Dutch French" part of France. Happy to be corrected though.

You say Rutte is the worst, when you have Geert Wilders and Thierry Baudet.

No.

Haha

Wilders only has a big mouth, he is has been shouting for 14 years and that's it but Baudet you need to keep an eye on him because he is the real fascist, he is Wilders in sheep cloths..

Rutte is the worst because of the stuff he has been doing for all those years and keeps on doing it.

Yeah, I am no VVD voter, but calling Rutte the worst is nowhere near the truth. There is no reason to resort to hyperbole either. You can think his party is bad for the country, but that is about as far as you could reasonably make a case for.

Personality wise, this side of him is one I definitely appreciate and what makes him a decent representative around the world. He is not someone that is easily impressed or submissive just because we are considered a small country (although our economical position increases our standing significantly).

Jesus Christ. "If we do work it out that'll be positive. And if we don't work it out, that'll be positive also". Guy doesn't just talk out of his ass, each cheek says something different. What an imbecile.

Good showing from the Dutch leader though lol. "No". We need Merkel, Macron, Trudeau, etc. consistently saying that to this orange buffoon.

Lol, you beat me to it, but this is seriously what stuck out to me as well.

Like i said his whole party is the worst because of the shit they do and the coalitional right now? VVD has the upper hand and the others are sitting like nice little dogs next to them obeying them.

Let's not derail the topic further with this discussion, and stick to the topic of Rutte, Trump, and more specifically the trade war.

As much as I can't stand that jackass... Yeah, Rutte got a good giggle out of me.

Sidenote, I thought that the Washintonpost didn't have tracking outside of the US, but I had to agree with all that nonsense to watch it here in the Netherlands...

Eh, the written text made it seem more blunt and hard hitting than the actual video. He was actually being nice, he just simply stated the obvious fact that them not working out a deal would "not" be positive. And, Trump just talks over him like the big idiot he is.

I find it disturbng that Trump just kept speaking despite what Rutte is saying, and on top of that, not adjusting what he was saying based on Rutte's response.

So what you have in that room is a person who is intolerant of other people's culture.

And the Dutch.

So that part of your family's from France, then? That part of France, where something resembling a Flemish dialect is spoken, doesn't really have anything to with the Netherlands though, where they speak "Dutch". When you say "French Dutch", the implication is that they're originating from a French speaking province or town or whatever in The Netherlands.
