This is slightly off topic, but I've never seen a twitter feed as toxic as AOC's. Like, you cannot go to any of her tweets without the meanest, vilest, most abusive shit the internet produces. So I watched the interview. He was deliberately steering it into an opportunity to distance Facebook as a media outlet. Classification as a "media outlet" is something the company has been actively trying to avoid since it would completely transform the business. At the same time he used it as an opportunity to look "bigger than" Twitter. In this interview, there was no political commentary neither was the reason for what was said was not political.
So as an entrepreneur you can see why he is steering the interview into the direction he did.
AT THE SAME TIME, Twitter did the right thing. It would be bold of Facebook to stand up for that. But Zuck wants to grow his empire and that comes at the expense of doing the right thing. In taking any kind of political standpoint in relation to the matter at hand, Facebook risks further audit and loss of control.
We can only hope Twitter will continue to take this stand and that eventually more will follow.
