Watched the second third of the movie last night.
I've seen many 'leave them, they're gone, you can't help them!" moments in movies, but the character actually has to be in irredeemable trouble for it to work.
When "Vasquez from aliens" comes smashing through the window, and has like 2 zombies vaguely near her and a bunch 15 feet behind, "leave her, she's gone" comes out of someones mouth. What the fuck, shoot the two zombies near her and she's just fine? I almost turned it off. That was the stupidest moment so far.
The female zombie doing flashdance movements when approaching the sacrifice, I mean, there is a certain zombie movie tone where that could be appropriate or even fun/funny (especially since it's vegas), but it had this air of seriousness about it, sucked. Also this movie has less tension/scares than most of the Harry Potter movies.
From the trailer I expected fun, what I'm getting is serious/boring. No tension, thirlls, no originality, set pieces, creativity, 90% of it could have been made on a shoestring budget because it's literally just boring conversations between actors and walking through buildings occasionally shooting a zombie in the face, and somehow even shooting zombies in the face is incredibly boring/forgettable filler.
The safe approach / safe cracking bit was the only segment I slightly enjoyed so far.
It's like they didn't storyboard anything, or come up with anything in the writers room except the broad strokes of the story/concept. Which is a shame because I think the overall concept for the story is good.
Hopefully the last third redeems it.
