So you're an enemy of Era, a billionaire through some dark magic you end up at the wrong interview and you get hired as the CEO of Apple lets say, and through the same dark magic, you get a billion dollars advance upon hiring.

This is where the unrealistic part ends. You're a billionaire now, seemingly overnight, with responsibilities, and the stress of running a company and god knows what terrible unethical things the shareholders and Tencent will do to you should certain deals suddenly become undone. Unlike your overnight and inexplicable success you now have, money, influence, and power, yet probably there's something shady going on.

What do you do?

It's your chance to be a shining beacon and lead by example for other billionaires to follow in your footsteps.

Do you personally leave the company up to others while you focus your energies on trying to do good with the money in your bank account?

Do you set up a foundation and hire others to do good for you, but lose control on how your personal money is spent?

Do you focus on trying to make your company more ethical, while spending those billions protecting yourself from potential shady "car accidents" and blackmail?

Do you spend those billions to fund your own campaign to become your country's leader (if Trump can do it) and quit the company. Try and change your country for the better. Do you go with the Democrats or try as a Republican, then do a bunch of Democratic policies and try and ruin the Republican party from the inside?

How do you accomplish these realistically?

Do you have to "break a few eggs to make an omelette"? What compromises do you make on the way in order to try and change things for the better?

You don't have to choose Apple, you can choose other companies including weapons manufacturers and dealers (ala a realistic Iron Man story).

Now you're in the shoes of the 1% how do you feel, how do you realistically deal with it?

I live a very comfortable life with my family playing video games, watching movies and having fun.

I'll take my money, bail and start shitposting on Twitter just for fun.

I know myself enough to not trust me with too much power. I'm also not engaged enough to lead any significant global positive change.

Well, if it's apple, I'm keeping some money, donating most of it to charity and running that stupid company into the ground.

Gift like 10 million dollars to the most prominent socialists on ERA and see how they react to their immoral wealth

Not enough money to give most away and live comfortably, and not enough money to ignore... just the right amount for never ending cognitive dissidence.

I quit my job, fill my room with videogames and throw money at whatever challenges are in my way.

1. Invest a lot for good long term revenue
2. One year of travel around the world
3. give back any excess to people who need it, medical research and charities while still being able to live comfortably
4. enjoy the rest of my life

Quit my ceo job, put 300 million in the bank, start my two dream money sucking companies an indie game studio and a porn business, buy my mom a home, car, and pay her bills indefinitely, travel for a couple years, come back play video games and finish spending what's left of my 700 million after all that and giving some to my closest family. Never touch the 300mil.

Fuck man there are people with 10s of billions

I'd decrease pay at the top end, give a rise to the lower paid staff, give away most of the money.

I will buy ERA and then add a new dedicated section for weekend era threads where no thread gets banned...an outer...heaven.

Leave the company immediately and then spend money on stuff that interests me. I'm likely not giving much of it away.

I don't need a lot of money. It doesn't make me happy. I'd give most of it to loved ones, charities and have enough left over to live comfortably (but not lavishly).

I would ensure that I have a pension with which I can live a comfortable, healthy life after moving to another country, acquiring an apartment and furnishing it.
The rest of all that money I have, I will invest in science, development programs abroad, LGBT+ advocacy around the world, and local programs to assist the poor, homeless and sick. Perhaps I'd try to bankroll progressive and socialist politicians and media to combat the rise of the right.

I'd employ the best tax lawyers and accountants in the business to help minimize my tax and then I'd make a public show of donating those would-be taxes as scholarships, hospital grants and grass roots community initiatives and make a public show about how I don't trust the Australian government (coalition) to not piss my taxes up the wall.

Then I'd use that as a springboard to get into politics. Preferably the senate so that I could make the coalition fucking miserable.

I'd sit around playing video games and posting on Era...

I would say things like "Fuck billionaires, they shouldn't exist."

Pay off all my close friends and family's debt, put the rest in a savings account and split the interest it accrues between my family and I forever.

Build a place around Austin. Get enough stuff to entertain me. On top of that, probably donate to as many no-kill shelters as I can, invest in local business and charities that help the homeless or under privileged.

I build an island. I join the UN. I make a law that I own the moon and Mars. I send a video drone around the moon so I can see the dark side. I send an unmanned space ship with a flag of my dumb mug on it and I plant it on multiple other planets. I give NASA some money to send shit outside of our solar system somehow.

I take the rest of my money and ruin Amazon. Just destroy it somehow. I take the leftover of that create an online application form, and have people send me sob stories and I donate them money.

I'd quit the CEO job day zero.
Then, I'd buy a house in a place I've always wanted to live (Tai O in Hong Kong, perhaps).
I'd use some of the money to fund my own firm where I could take cases I'm passionate about without worrying too much about getting paid. That'd also give me an opportunity to give some of my friends some decent jobs that they sorely deserve.
Since I'd still have a ludicrous amount of money, I'd probably just give a chunk of it away and then put the rest in an index fund, the proceeds from which I would donate to some worthy causes.

Try not to die b... well I'd be dead. Something would happen moving to a billion that fast. With no security and safe guards in place already I'd be a sitting duck. I think it would be a bit of a nightmare actually, I wouldn't be able to trust people anymore.
