Good that they finally announced it. I'll get the PS5 version in a sale next year, have a lot of games to play until then either way.

Is the PS4 digital going to work on the PS5 right away, just upgraded later, or will it not work at all on the PS5 until it releases?

I would say technical/head start. It probably had no next-gen port but MS pushed for it and then it all got upgraded.

Just get the PS4 version and play on PS5. It's not like Y7 is some mindblowing technical marvel.

It's funny how many people arguing tooth and nail the PS5 version wasn't delayed and Sega was just waiting for the official PS5 launch date even though it was very clear from their wording that it was not going to be day and date with the other versions lol

That digital only upgrade path is some dodgy shit. If you buy the disc you're stuck with the PS4 version.

This is a series I take my time with, almost at the end of 4 and doing all the side quests with all characters.
