I think I read that there's a shield at the casino that when fully upgraded is the best weapon for that class. Though I'm waiting to get those items that makes the casino easier. But yeah, something about Enforcer screamed "this is clearly Adachi's starter job but better".

Also decided to keep Kasuga as a hero but make Nanba a musician & Saeko an idol dressed as Haruka.
You're me, I know it.

At one point I had Saeko equipped with an item that made her gain job experience at 1.5x the normal rate. After a story beat where she left my party briefly (like 5 minutes super brief not a spoiler), the item was gone though the rest of her equipment remained. I don't know if it was gone sooner and I just only then noticed or what but: Does anyone know where I could acquire a new one of this item?

Chapter 10, 50 hours in.
Been grinding the management mini-game and the dungeon that you can go back into. It´s long and kinda bland but i don´t even mind. I need those rare materials.
A bit over leveled, but the real difference is the crafted equipment. Ichiban just one-shotting pretty much every enemy.

Haven´t been that into a game since Witcher 3. It´s ridiculous how addictive the game is.

Location:
Very southwest of the map. South of the "restaurant" brothel that you hang out in. There´s a hidden store that sells job exp items. Don´t know if that particual one is sold there as well.

Couple of questions:

1. What is the reason to switch around and level up multiple jobs? What actually carries over? Or are you just supposed to find one job you really like for a character and just use that?

2. How do you know what weapons are good? I see you can upgrade them, so are there weapons that start crappy but become the best? Should I just ignore leveling up weapons until later in the game?

3. For the items that increase your stats, should I just use them immediately? Are they like some games where they up your stats by a random amount, so you want to save and re-do it to try and get a max amount?

1.) Stat increase bonuses from certain job levels are permanent and red colored job skills carry over (you can check this on the job skills page) so you can use them with any job. I level every character in every job to level 8 since it's rather fast and has 2 stat increases and sometimes a red skill. After that, I'm not sure yet, maybe I'll stick with the jobs I like the most.

3.) I use any stat increase items I find on Ichiban since he's the MC, I tend to do that in every game though.

I really need to know what song's used in the Heroes of Tomorrow trailer. I can't find it anywhere, was it just made for promo material?
I also really wish there was an easier way of gearing people up. Though I am probably switching jobs a bit too frequently, it's still ridiculous how hard it can be to find weapons for some jobs.

The part time hero quest for Slugger enemies says they are on Restaurant row but I have yet to see one there. Are they so rare or is that the wrong location, anyone know?

Just about to finish the business side quest, and I take it Eri doesn't really get any development or side story stuff like everyone else. The bad guy calls her a weak naive girl. . . and he's right? She says we (ie Ichiban) will stop him, and that's about it. I know she's an optional side character, but the hostesses in previous games had more development than her.

Just started chapter 4. Holy hell the amount of dialog in this game is nuts. I've probably done less than 25 battles and I've like 5 hours of play time.

10.5 hours in and on Chapter 5 now.
Just realising after over 20 years of me playing JRPGs, this probably has the oldest cast of leads in a JRPG yet, right? (By a long way lol).

Chapter 12 has an insane spike of difficulty for a boss fight. Its insane lol

The game just kicked my ass 5 times in a row. I give up. I don't get it. I buff, I debuff, I take way to much damage, its insane, I can't keep the heal up.

I was coming just to post this

It doesn't help that they make you spend ¥3m just before.

Though if anyone was going to kick my ass I'm glad it's them

Definetly think I'm underleveled (35) so going back to finish some substories

Finally got my series x! I'm really excited to check out this game but I'm not sure which version to get. Is the additional content in the Hero and/or Legendary Hero editions worth it, or should I just go with the base game? Do you have the option of upgrading after buying the base game?

Between Persona 5 and now Yakuza 7, SEGA might have found their new calling as the Japanese Social Commentary games publisher.

Was about to post "goddamn I just got blown out by [BOSS THAT APPEARS IN CHAPTER 12]" and am greatly relieved to see posts right above talking about the exact same moment.

It's a very gratifying ass-kicking for sure but I'm going to have to gear up before I want another crack at that

The management mode is very reminiscent of Kairosoft's games. I got a little carried away and finished it before finishing Chapter 5...

Long time fan, been here since Yakuza 1 on the PS2. I am finding the turn-based to be quite good though I do prefer real-time still. That said, I'm really liking the story so far and Ichi is great. I'll see what I think after I beat it but so far so good!

Considering how braindead the combat is in this game, an insane difficulty spike sounds awesome. I'm looking forward to it.

Started the game on Friday and finished chapter 2 just a bit ago, I'm loving the game so far. I've only barely played Yakuza 0 but have really wanted to delve deeper into this series, this will definitely be a good motivator to continue through the others over time.

Ugh I'm on chapter 4 and the main story quest put me in an area I was super under leveled for (enemies were over twice my level and were one-shotting me), so I died a few times trying to find a taxi and lost the majority of my money. That was super frustrating

Anyone know how to make the Con Men enemy types spawn in the Red Light District? Do they only appear at night or something? I have a Part Time Hero request to kill some.

Finished the management mode story. It was pretty fun, but the formula for success never really changes so it definitely dragged towards the end.

Still pretty early compared to the rest of this thread, still in Chapter 4. It's been a really long time since I've lost a fight in a Yakuza game, but I managed it here. I just can't get the timing right for the attacks that boost via the Triangle/Y button, and perfect blocks are pretty difficult too. But also, there are so many fights, they whittle down your health, and I feel like I try to avoid fights a lot more than most Yakuza games.

Story's okay. I'm just starting to get into some of the Chapter 4 storyline and I gotta say, I'm very much on Adachi and Nanba's side regarding a very specific thing in this chapter that sounds like it'll become a much bigger thing going forward. I'm hoping that leads somewhere interesting, but I kind of suspect not. Guess we'll see.

Yeah, it definitely started to go on autopilot after your first big success, but generally I found it really enjoyable and I hope they bring it back with more variety in the next game. It had a very satisfying "numbers go up" element to it that tickled my lizard brain.

Good way to make money, too. Sitting on a cool 15 million yen in chapter 5 and I can always go back to do a few shareholders' meetings if I manage to spend it all. Now I'm ready to tackle all the other optional stuff. I can't believe how excited I am about growing plants and collecting bugs and shit. Absolutely loving this game.

Yes!! Kairosoft was the exact dev I thought of when I saw the pixel art in the "open businesses/sales" part lmao. Maybe that's why I found the whole thing so satisfying, I used to play the shit out of those games. Maybe I should reinstall Mega Mall Story on my phone one of these days, relive the glory days.

I'm on chapter 4 and I'm absolutely loving this game, I thought I wouldn't like the turn based battles since I've been used to the other games, but they're super fun.

re: Chapter 12's difficulty spike:

It's easy to grind in that place you unlocked. I went up 7 levels incredibly quickly there, then later went back and grinded 11 more levels fairly quickly. it's a pretty fun place imo and it gives you lots of amazing items including rare materials for crafting and an equippable item that stops all random battles from occurring.

I recommend grinding up at least to level 42, or go up to 50 if you want to future-proof yourself. There's a nearby restaurant right across the Sotenbori river where you can eat food and get an experience boost for 3 battles to make you gain experience a little faster.

Finally got through chapter 12. Its a real pace killer to grind for it.
I was bummed when I learned I needed to grind as well. But I had much more fun with grinding it out than I did in that really big dungeon earlier in the game, so I'm ultimately not mad at it.

After what happens at the end of chapter 2 there's some story momentum that just halts to an awful stop....I'm struggling with chapter 3 and 4

How do you take pictures in the game? I noticed there's an "album" feature but I couldn't figure out how to take any pictures...

Also, regarding the game's story, there's one specific part in chapter 13, one of the game's more serious moments, that made me think "that's just the absolute dumbest thing I've ever heard" lol. The chances of that happening... But I love the story otherwise.

this fucking japanese role playing game might be my game of the year 2020 fuck

EDIT: it definitely is
Me too... This game is just way too good, and I actually don't like JRPGs. I'm going to be singing this game's praises for a very long time.

Btw for people further into the game; I'm in chapter 10, are there any other spots to grind except for the dungeon? I completed it yesterday, but apart from that one guy (the special hobo?) giving you 70k exp there isn't a lot helping you there.

Btw, the substory with the circus... haha, oh man. Especially when Ichiban panics and his animation is hilarious.

Good to hear I'm not alone, also died twice while trying to get to the soapland and lost a shit ton of money. Figured I needed some better equipment but could only buy one pair of boots because I was broke by now. Nothing else to do but grind weak enemies and level up that way. Seems pretty counter productive to make you lose the resources you need to get stronger if you die in battles, but oh well.

Still really enjoying the game. Hope I unlock jobs soon!

I'm conflicted as hell with Y7. Wandering around doing side missions/games and engaging with the wacky combat is fun, but this is probably the worst written Yakuza game and it kills me how boring the plot and dialogue is.

The management mode could stand to be much harder, but I imagine it needs to be clearable by casual fans. I just wish the shareholder meetings weren't so easy. HP is useless, I literally never got hit once. So all that matters is ATK:Cost.

I've just finished these chapters, and despite really enjoying everything so far, I was also conscious of the fact that this has the slowest pacing since the Yakuza 3 prologue.

...But it's Yakuza, so these inconsistencies are practically its bread and butter!
