There's no wrong answers. IMO if you aren't picking the ridiculous answers to substories you're playing Yakuza wrong.

The puppies answer to that Yanki story is *hilarious*. "He kept them? FUUUUCK YEAH!"

this one was funny !

So I have a Dualshock 4 connected to my PC via Bluetooth (no DS4Windows running at the moment). I can get Steam to recognize my controller in game and it brings up the Big Picture UI when I hit the Home button. The game seems to recognize there's a controller attached, as the button prompts change from keyboard/mouse to Dualshock prompts when I do stuff on the controller. But nothing on the controller actually DOES anything--d-pad doesn't move the menu cursor, buttons don't do anything, etc. The only thing that happens sometimes is when I move the left stick, a virtual left stick appears on the screen that mimics what I'm doing with the controller.

Any ideas? I've tried launching Yakuza 0 in both normal and Big Picture mode and it doesn't make a difference.

If you have any other controller devices connected like a fightstick or a steering wheel it will not work

But I only have the integrated sound card.
Either way, changing AudioMode=1 makes the game crash for a friend, like it did for me when I tried to change the hidden audio options. It's pretty weird how some .ini changes make the game crash for some, but not for others.

I'm not sure, but i remember having set the ingame audio to stereo and after changing the ini it was back to surround. But maybe it was just the game changing it back.

lol, now the game crashes as soon as I start it :o

I'm not sure what could be causing that. The only change from before is that it might cause the big picture overlay to pop up instead of the normal one. You can disable that by going to Settings > In-Game and Uncheck Use the Big Picture Overlay...

if your specs mean you are on a laptop, go into the nvidia control panel > 3D settings and set Yakuza0.exe to run on your 980m. It defaults to your iGPU for some reason. I have a i7-8750H and a 1070-maxQ and it ran like shit and hard locked during the intro before I manually told it to use the dGPU
Hmm, I've tried everything. Nvidia control panel, updating GPU driver, reinstalled geforce experience in case it had some customization settings (It doesn't) for the game, running in compatibility mode, Verifying integrity of the game cache.....

I don't get it :(

Played through the first chapter and the port seems pretty decent so far, no major issues is preventing me from playing the game, but there is a couple of things I would very much have liked to be different:

Inconsistent cutscene quality
Most of the cutscenes in the game are done in engine and look awesome, but a number of the bigger cutscenes are low quality 1080p renders at 30 FPS, really off putting when you otherwise run it at 1440p at 100+ fps.

Poor antialiasing
I would have hoped the game would have implemented better methods to combat aliasing like SMAA and TAA, being stuck with FXAA and expensive supersampling is dissapointing.

Low resolution UI
The UI was obviously designed for a lower resolution and understandably it doesn't hold up that well on higher than 1080p monitors, but they could at least have updated the most important things like the text to be much sharper.

Auto change to windowed mode
I have no idea why some developers have their game change from full screen to windowed mode if you tap out it, it's so damn annoying having to change it back in the settings menu every time you need to go back to windows without closing the game. Nier Automata did the same thing and it's baffling to me why this is a thing.

Low quality depth of field
The presentation is pretty good at 2560x1440, but man does the depth of field effect stick out and make it look worse than it should.

Those are just my current observations, I understand things like the pre-rendered cutscenes and most of the UI stuff not being updated, but I would love to have seen them done a little more work to it. I will enjoy the game regardless and hope it does well enough for them to bring more games in the series to PC,

Finished chapter 1. Wow, so many cut scenes >_<

It's okay so far, not what I expected at all, but I'm enjoying it. Curious to see how the game unfolds.

Chapter 1 is very cutscene heavy. Sets the story up but from Chapter 2 and on you'll have the freedom to do what you want, encounter various hilarious sidequests, etc

Do substories appear on the map in this game? They did in Yakuza 4 and 5, but I started 6 and they don't. So I'm wondering if side quests have to be discovered in this one, or if the starting points appear on the map. They're my favorite part of the Yakuza games and I don't want to miss any.

Read da OP.

I can't find any more substories! Does the game tell me where they are?

There is an equippable item in the game that marks the beginning point of any substories that you haven't started/encountered yet. It's called the "Trouble Finder" and you need to find it once for Kiryu and once for Majima (you can't swap these items between them). The Trouble Finder is found for Kiryu by completing substory related to his Real Estate business, and it unlocks in Chapter 5. For Majima, you need to complete the friendship gauge with the chef of the restaurant "Komian" in Sotenbori.

What is the general consensus on the port? I see some people are having startup issues, but apart from that, is it a good port? Is it worth playing this version if you already have the PS4 version?

Disappointed with the 21:9 support.

It's Vert- and you can't move the HUD off to the corners.

Man. This game runs like a dram on my pc. (I7 6700k, 1070, 16GB). The setup devours this game in 4k.

Off topic: how come, when I try to bring up game at to record something the screen just flashes twice and nothing happens?

This game is a test for how instinctively I know my Playstation button prompts. :p It's also pretty fun.

You're using the windows 10 game bar recording whatsit? That doesn't work on fullscreen games. Get a better piece of recording software. MSI Afterburner will do the trick, unless you need to share it to Xbox or whatever.

Oh I didn't know it didn't work on full screen games. Yeah I was tryin to share it on Xbox to show my buddy lol. Had no idea Afterburner did recording.

Running buttery smooth 60fps @4K, no stuttering. Ultra on all settings including FXAA. No super sampling. I preemptively applied the fixes mentioned earlier (Affinity: High, the .ini audio tweak). I'm running a GTX 980ti / FX8350. Forgot to take a neon-drenched night shot but here's day shot. I'm still on the intro.

It's currently 3rd on the top sellers list. Can you really even use concurrent users for a single player game that isn't a huge release to gauge the amount of sales? I bought the game and only had it running for half an hour so far.

A ton of people also bought it from 3rd party sites for the additional discounts so that also means top seller list will be under represented. Many people like myself already played it on PS4 and I'm in no rush to get going again, so concurrent users isn't that great of indicator either. Need a functioning Steamspy, too bad that's gone.

Are there no keys and lockers in this game? I just beat chapter 1. Has the game started properly yet? Cuz it's feeling like less of a mainline game than I expected. Still good ol' Yakuza though.

I hope it gets patched soon though. Still got some audio crackling and some freezing with the "fixes" applied.

So the OP and others mention that there are PlayStation button prompts in the game... How do you enable them?

Just got to the first karaoke section and, as a Nintendo guy, the backwards Xbox button layout is totally unplayable. :( I can do PlayStation, though, but I didn't see the option in the menu.

And this is why I use DS4Windows

Game opens up by chapter 4ish. And no, no keys and lockers this time.

You can collect softcore porn though.

Yes, they serve no other purpose than to be sold to get some cash.

Port is pretty good but still needs a bit of work. Ultrawide crop is somewhat dumb and UI/text at that res could be better. Still, it's pretty damn fun to play the game on UW and Yakuza 0 overall is amazing.

Also, Yakuza 0 is now a #1 seller on US store and #4 on the global store. Not too shabby!

On Steam's controller settings, you have enable your DS4. I think it only works if you're actually using a DS4.

My friend is dealing with a crash to desktop during launch. He went through a lot of the basic suggestions and isn't having any luck.

Did anyone run into and or solve this issue.

Oh well I guess I'll move it along. Did get like 15 million yen in the end-chapter area of chapter 1 at least! Still not sure how to rack up the yen multiplier.

Um, no? Most heat moves would probably end real people. In the Yakuza world they somehow manage to be perfectly fine afterwards.

That's what makes it family friendly :P

In the context of other games though this is pretty standard bloodless beat-em-up fare.

Kiryu massacring gangsters on the freeway however...

Finally got around to installing this.

Though it runs at 160~180+ FPS with vsync off, unless setting the game priority to High in the task manager, there was some stutter during cut-scenes still.

Setting the priority to high is a mandatory for this game even if you far exceed 60 FPS.

Fixed the crackling audio, but is the audio just not very high quality to anyone else? I don't remember it being this poor on the ps4 or maybe I wasn't wearing headphones.

edit: figured it out, it's the audio slider screwing with audio quality, the lower it goes the worse it gets.
