WASHINGTON — On Dec. 8, someone made a simultaneous transfer of 28.15 bitcoins — worth more than $500,000 at the time — to 22 different virtual wallets, most of them belonging to prominent right-wing organizations and personalities.

Now cryptocurrency researchers believe they have identified who made the transfer, and suspect it was intended to bolster those far-right causes. U.S. law enforcement is investigating whether the donations were linked to the Jan. 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol.
While the motivation is difficult to prove, the transfer came just a month before the violent riot in the Capitol, which took place after President Trump invited supporters to "walk down Pennsylvania Avenue" and "take back our country."

Right-wing figures and websites, including VDARE, the Daily Stormer and Nick Fuentes, received generous donations from a bitcoin account linked to a French cryptocurrency exchange, according to research done by software company Chainalysis, which maintains a repository of information about public cryptocurrency exchanges and whose tools aid in government, law enforcement and private sector investigations. Chainalysis investigated the donations after Yahoo News shared the data points about the transaction.

According to one source familiar with the matter, the suspicious Dec. 8 transaction, along with a number of other pieces of intelligence, has prompted law enforcement and intelligence agencies in recent days to actively investigate the sources of funding for the individuals who participated in the Capitol insurrection, as well as their networks. The government is hoping to prevent future attacks but also to uncover potential foreign involvement in or support of right-wing activities, the source said.

During a press conference on Tuesday on the investigation into the Capitol riot, acting U.S. Attorney Michael Sherwin said the "scope and scale of this investigation in these cases are really unprecedented." At this time, Sherwin added, prosecutors are treating the matter as a "significant counterterrorism or counterintelligence investigation" involving deeper dives into "money, travel records, disposition, movement, communication records."

FBI needs to slow down. The more they find in the next 6 days, the more pressure on Trump to pardon tons of people. Go ham on Jan 21.

They could literally catch these people red handed and they would never even be arrested if Trump pardons them.

It's been mentioned that if trump pardons he opens himself up to civil liability for injuries/deaths during the attack. Probably why he's now claiming that it was Antifa.

The other thing is that accepting a pardon means they are confessing to the crime, which will affect their ability to plead the fifth.

Kind of defeats the purpose of using bitcoin if your transaction history can be traced this easily. Might as well just do things the old fashioned way with shell companies and overseas transfers and whatnot.

There are just so many layers to this and how dumb these trump insurrectionists were/are.

Like...even just trying to wrap your head around it is a task in and of itself. Aside from the smart ones that have ulterior motivations, influences, reasons for being there, organized it, etc, lets just break it down to the rank and file trumper:

1) They're there because they allegidly believe they love America, and feel as though America is under attack from within (with foreign influence).
2) But the movement they are a part of was fueled greatly by Trump, who has been destroying us from within (likely with foreign influence).
3) And some of the people within that movement, or within leadership of that movement, are bad actors with foreign influence.
4) Trump also hates these people, but they believe he loves them.

They are getting fleeced by EVERYONE. Nobody loves them, nobody cares about them, and yet they are willing to die and storm the capitol of the United States of America for those very people...because they have gone years thinking that nobody cares about them. It's bordering on paradoxical.

They are so effectively brianwashed I don't even know how you would approach someone of this mindset to bring them back to reality.

How many thesis papers will be written on these people in the coming decades?

Still a lot of old rumors and assumptions about bitcoin out there in the minds of the people that dont keep up on the details. BTC is traceable as hell. Its not anonymous by any means. You can only hide stuff from laymen with it, governments will track your ass down.

Now Monero last I checked is legit in terms of its anonymity.

This is some shit. Blatant conspiracy to commit treason. We know it was spurred on by domestic entities, and this blows open the possibility of foreign influence. January 6th looks like a bizarro Belorus.

So I'm not saying this is the case here at all to be clear, but I only just realised how happy the CIA must be to have bitcoin in the world now. No more need to funnel illegal drugs to get funds off the books etc for their illegal shit, just straight up use bitcoin trades for off the books cash.

Anyway back on topic, this shit is seriously going to be blown wide open once Biden takes over and has more control over what is and isn't looked into. How anyone can claim people on the inside weren't in on it now I don't know, it was clear on the day and only gotten more clear as time has gone on.

I was intrigued by US Attorney for DC saying in the press conference that there was a significant counterintelligence component to the investigation, so this tracks with that statement.

For what it's worth, this just seems to be some racist PoS who had bitcoin lying around for 8 years or more and then gave them out to far right assholes before apparently committing suicide. It's pretty easy to find the guy's blog, employment history, etc.
