I started the game recently, and it's so understated they they just have a dolphin on crew. It's so bizarre and I love it.

Man, I really love me some Xenogears. I can't wait to play it again now that I have a much stronger grasp on the story compared to 20 years ago.

OP you may have sold me on Xenogears.

I think I tried it 10 years ago when I first discovered JRPGs and finished FFVII twice as my first taste. But it didn't grip me back then.

I'm trying to remember if they're ever explained? I can't remember off the top of my head. I've been tempted to revisit the game during the summer as I cannot remember the last time I played it through completion (and didn't just boot up my last boss save like I used to do as a kid).

This game has been a grower for me. I was very much going wtf at first with the stuff happening but now I've got into the groove and it's great.

I would actually be perfectly okay if the game says nothing haha. It's so random but it also fits...strangely

I don't think they have soundcloud on their planet, but this is the 'playlist' he plays for you

Edit: well crap that wasn't the right set. But basically he plays you a bunch of sound effects...and not actual music

Man, I forgot so much about Xenogears since I last played it back in 1999 saved for how angry I was at the 2nd disc.

Forget having to remake it, just fully complete the 2nd with the same graphics for all I care, it just need to be properly finished!

Sorta, yeah.
Granted, it's been a long time for myself as well (which is inexcusable as it's one of my all-time faves) but I seem to remember there is a revelation in which the demihumans are found to be bizarre Solarian lab creations more commonly eaten in the form of 'Soylent' than anything.

My favorite part was the battling at the Imperial Capital's Arena in Kislev. Two modes, two players, tons of options. It was the best PS1 mech fighting game by far and it was a mini game.
